A case of leukemoid reaction in a premature baby whose mother was antenatally treated by betamethasone is reported. The neonatal and maternal factors which might lead to leukocytosis or leukemoid reaction were excluded. The presented case is the last in a series of eight previously reported cases of leukemoid reaction, in which the common denominator was the antenatal administration of betamethasone.

Subtotal cholecystectomy is a definitive and safe operation to treat diseases of the gallbladder, whenever there are major difficulties in dissection from the liver. Described herein is successful experience with 6 patients using this technique, through the laparoscopic approach. In cases with severe inflammatory changes, gallbladder embedded in liver tissue, and liver cirrhosis, they enabled reduction of operative time and avoidance of excessive bleeding that could have caused the conversion of the laparoscopic approach to open laparotomy.

The white blood cell counts of 84 premature infants were included in a retrospective study of 45 infants treated antenatally with betamethasone and 39 non-treated infants. A significant increase in neutrophil and immature neutrophil forms was found in the treated group when the drug was administered to the mother close to delivery. This effect lasted for three days.

A total of 31 patients with acute torsion treated over a fifteen-year period are reviewed. The peak incidence of the disease, its seasonal variations, predisposing factors, surgical procedure, and clinical outcome are analyzed. Most of the patients were operated upon via an inguinal incision and underwent detorsion and fixation or untwisting only of the involved testis.

Among the anomalies and curiosities of nature, a braid-like cervical protrusion is a rare anatomical finding. Most similar reported cases of tail-like appendages have been observed in the sacrococcygeal or lumbar region. This case report depicts an interesting association of well-differentiated adenocarcinoma of the endometrium with benign squamous metaplastic foci confined to the fundus uteri, superficially invading the myometrium and with concomitant bilateral pelvic lymph node endometriotic adenoacanthomas. Right inguinal lymphadenopathy was detected during the first hospitalization. A lymph node biopsy from the right groin, carried out at Nahariyya, revealed apparent metastatic adenoacanthoma regarded most probably as endometrial in origin.

Primary and isolated lymphoma of the head of pancreas with secondary involvement of the lungs and obstructive jaundice, in a 31-year-old postpartum woman, is described. The histological diagnosis was diffuse histiocytic lymphoma. Chemotherapeutic treatment resulted in complete remission of the tumor.
