Integrated multi-organ ultrasound is increasingly used across various medical specialties. It should be performed in conjunction with history, physical examination, and other investigations in the diagnostic process to enhance the detection of conditions in the lung, heart, and abdomen. Multi-organ ultrasound has been shown to improve diagnostic accuracy in a sizeable portion of patients, potentially altering treatment plans.

This is a commentary to a paper recently published in RBMOnline by Macklon and De Vos, in which they argue for a discontinuation of ovarian tissue freezing for fertility preservation in women with breast cancer. Instead, they suggest the use of oocyte vitrification following ovarian stimulation as the preferred method of fertility preservation. This commentary presents nine separate arguments that should be considered in the context of ovarian tissue freezing and fertility preservation in girls and women.

Accurate assessment of therapy response to chemotherapy could possibly offer a bladder-sparing approach in selected patients with localized muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). The aim of this study was to evaluate whether [O]HO PET/MRI can be used for assessment of complete local pathological response to preoperative chemotherapy in patients with MIBC. This prospective pilot study included 13 patients with MIBC treated with neoadjuvant or induction chemotherapy and subsequent radical cystectomy.

Aims/hypothesis: The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) derived from diffusion-weighted MRI (DWI-MRI) has been proposed as a measure of changes in kidney microstructure, including kidney fibrosis. In advanced kidney disease, the kidneys often become atrophic; however, in the initial phase of type 2 diabetes, there is an increase in renal size. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists and sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors both provide protection against progression of kidney disease in diabetes.

Introduction: Managing obstetric shoulder dystocia requires swift action using correct maneuvers. However, knowledge of obstetric teams' performance during management of real-life shoulder dystocia is limited, and the impact of non-technical skills has not been adequately evaluated. We aimed to analyze videos of teams managing real-life shoulder dystocia to identify clinical challenges associated with correct management and particular non-technical skills correlated with high technical performance.

Objective And Results Description: The study objective was to investigate the potential of quantitative measures of pulmonary inflammation by [18 F]Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) as a surrogate marker of inflammation in COPD. Patients treated with anti-inflammatory Liraglutide were compared to placebo and correlated with inflammatory markers. 27 COPD-patients (14 receiving Liraglutide treatment and 13 receiving placebo) underwent 4D-respiratory-gated FDG-PET/CT before and after treatment.

AMPK is a well-known energy sensor regulating cellular metabolism. Metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes are considered detrimental factors that reduce fecundity. Here, we show that pharmacologically induced in vitro activation (by metformin) or inhibition (by dorsomorphin) of the AMPK pathway inhibits or promotes activation of ovarian primordial follicles in cultured murine ovaries and human ovarian cortical chips.

Research Question: Are serum progesterone concentrations on the day of modified natural cycle (mNC) frozen blastocyst transfer (FET) without luteal phase support (LPS) associated with clinical pregnancy rate (CPR)?
Design: Data were collected between January 2019 and October 2022 as a sub-study of an ongoing randomized controlled trial assessing pregnancy outcomes in mNC-FET. The sub-study included all women (n = 209) randomized to mNC-FET without LPS at the time of data extraction. Participants were aged 18-41 years, had regular menstrual cycles and underwent mNC-FET treatment with single-blastocyst transfer.

Aim: Despite the increasing use of combination treatment with sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, data are limited on the effects of combination treatment on markers of cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to investigate the effect of empagliflozin, semaglutide, and their combination on vascular function.
Materials And Methods: In total, 120 patients with type 2 diabetes were randomized into four groups (n = 30 in each) for 32 weeks: placebo, semaglutide, empagliflozin, and their combination.

Aims: To evaluate the effect of treatment with semaglutide and empagliflozin on the cortico-medullary sodium gradient (MCR; medulla/cortex ratio), urine sodium/creatinine ratio (UNACR), and estimated plasma volume (ePV) and to compare the MCR between persons with and without type 2 diabetes.
Methods: Using the Na magnetic resonance imaging (Na-MRI) technique, we investigated the effects of 32 weeks of treatment with semaglutide, empagliflozin or their combination on MCR in 65 participants with type 2 diabetes and high risk of cardiovascular disease. The participants were recruited from a randomized, controlled interventional trial and further characterized by UNACR and ePV.

Aims: In patients with chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), myocardial ketone metabolism is increased and short-term treatment with the ketone body 3-hydroxy butyrate (3-OHB) has beneficial haemodynamic effects. In patients with HFrEF, we investigated whether the level of circulating 3-OHB predicted all-cause mortality and sought to identify correlations between patient characteristics and circulating 3-OHB levels.
Methods And Results: We conducted a cohort study in 218 patients with HFrEF.

Background: Increasingly, circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is proposed as a tool for minimal residual disease (MRD) assessment. Digital PCR (dPCR) offers low analysis costs and turnaround times of less than a day, making it ripe for clinical implementation. Here, we used tumor-informed dPCR for ctDNA detection in a large colorectal cancer (CRC) cohort to evaluate the potential for post-operative risk assessment and serial monitoring, and how the metastatic site may impact ctDNA detection.
