Musculoskeletal Health Climate Is a Prognostic Determinant of Sickness Absence Among Female Eldercare Workers: A Prospective Cohort Study.

Objectives: The present study investigated the association between musculoskeletal health climate, that is, the shared perceptions among workers concerning musculoskeletal health, and sickness absence.

Methods: Questionnaire data on two domains of musculoskeletal health climate, perceived management priority (PMP) and pain acceptance at work (PAW), were collected at baseline. Data on sickness absence were extracted at 1-year follow-up.

Reference intervals for platelet large cell ratio, platelet distribution width, plateletcrit and standard haematological parameters determined on the Sysmex XN-10 in a cohort of 30,917 Danish blood donors.

With the introduction of the Sysmex XN-10, new platelet indices reflecting platelet maturity can be obtained alongside with a full blood count. Therefore, the need for verified reference intervals is present. The purpose of this study was to establish reference intervals for the platelet indices: platelet large cell ratio (P-LCR), platelet distribution width (PDW) and plateletcrit (PCT) in a large Scandinavian cohort.

The effects of preoperative focused cardiac ultrasound in high-risk patients: A randomised controlled trial (PREOPFOCUS).

Background: Surgery is the third most common cause of mortality worldwide. Focused cardiac ultrasound (FOCUS) yields information on cardiac status and discloses the presence of unknown pathology. Preoperative FOCUS changes patient treatment, allowing for a patient-tailored anaesthesia.

Endocervical sampling in women with suspected cervical neoplasia: a systematic review and meta-analysis of diagnostic test accuracy studies.

Objective: Endocervical sampling in women with suspected cervical neoplasia can be performed by either endocervical brush or endocervical curettage. This study aimed to estimate the diagnostic accuracy, discomfort, and number of inadequate samples with either test.

Data Sources: Four bibliographic databases were searched on June 9, 2022, with no date or language restrictions.

Increased shoulder pain across an exercise session and subsequent shoulder exercise: a prospective cohort study.

Background: Shoulder complaints are common and the recommended first-line treatment is exercise therapy. However, it remains unknown if increased shoulder pain after an exercise session is a barrier for subsequent exercise dose, particularly in people with high fear-avoidance beliefs. Such knowledge could indicate ways to optimise shoulder rehabilitation.

Vitamin K2 and D in Patients With Aortic Valve Calcification: A Randomized Double-Blinded Clinical Trial.

Background: Menaquinone-7 (MK-7), also known as vitamin K2, is a cofactor for the carboxylation of proteins involved in the inhibition of arterial calcification and has been suggested to reduce the progression rate of aortic valve calcification (AVC) in patients with aortic stenosis.

Methods: In a randomized, double-blind, multicenter trial, men from the community with an AVC score >300 arbitrary units (AU) on cardiac noncontrast computer tomography were randomized to daily treatment with tablet 720 µg MK-7 plus 25 µg vitamin D or matching placebo for 24 months. The primary outcome was the change in AVC score.

Primary Care Physical Therapists' Experiences When Screening for Serious Pathologies Among Their Patients: A Qualitative Study.

Objective: A vital part of the initial examination performed by a physical therapist is to establish whether the patient would benefit from physical therapist intervention. This process includes knowledge about contraindications for treatment and screening for serious pathologies. However, little is known about the physical therapists' views and thoughts about their own practice when screening for serious pathologies.

Several studies have investigated effects of simulation-based team training to prepare for such events, but the body of evidence remains to be compiled. We performed a systematic review of the effects of simulation-based team training on clinical performance and patient outcome.

Mitral Annulus Calcification and Cardiac Conduction Disturbances: A DANCAVAS Sub-study.

Background: Due to its location very close to the bundle of His, mitral annulus calcification (MAC) might be associated with the development of atrioventricular (AV) conduction disturbances. This study assessed the association between MAC and AV conduction disturbances identified by cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) use and electrocardiographic parameters. The association between MAC and traditional cardiovascular risk factors was also assessed.

Mesalazine in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and COVID-19: Hospitalization and Adverse In-Hospital Outcomes Based on Nationwide Data.

Background: We assessed whether 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), as treatment for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), was associated with an increase in hospitalization for coronavirus disease 2019 and adverse in-hospital outcomes.

Methods: This was a Danish nationwide register study. The study population consisted of all patients with an IBD diagnosis between March 1, 2010, and March 1, 2020, and living in Denmark on March 1, 2020.

Aortic valve calcification among elderly males from the general population, associated echocardiographic findings, and clinical implications.

Aims: Aortic valve calcification (AVC) detected by non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) associates with morbidity and mortality in patients with aortic valve stenosis. However, the importance of AVC in the general population is sparsely evaluated. We intend to describe the associations between AVC score on NCCT and echocardiographic findings as left atrial (LA) dilatation, left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy, aortic valve area (AVA), peak velocity, mean gradient, and aortic valve replacement (AVR) in a population with AVC scores ≥300 AU.

Lot variation and inter-device differences contribute to poor analytical performance of the DCA Vantage™ HbA POCT instrument in a true clinical setting.

Objectives: The glycated haemoglobin fraction A (HbA) is widely used in the management of diabetes mellitus, and the Siemens DCA Vantage™ point-of-care testing (POCT) instrument offers rapid HbA results even far from a clinical laboratory. However, the analytical performance has been questioned, and not much is known about effects of changing reagent lot, instrument and operator. We therefore compared the analytical performance of the DCA Vantage™ with established routine methods (Tosoh G8/G11 ion exchange HPLC) in a true clinical setting at two Danish hospitals.

Objective: To provide a systematic review of self-administered decision aids (DAs) for citizens invited to participate in colorectal cancer screening synthesizing the effectiveness of self-administered DAs on informed choice or the components hereof; knowledge, attitudes, and participation.

Methods: The literature search was undertaken in PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Embase and Scopus and last updated 19 March 2021. Results were presented by narrative synthesis, meta-analyses and vote counting based on direction of effect.

Prevalence and extent of coronary artery calcification in the middle-aged and elderly population.

Aims: Coronary artery calcification (CAC) measured on cardiac computed tomography (CT) is an important risk marker for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and has been included in the prevention guidelines. The aim of this study was to describe CAC score reference values in the middle-aged and elderly population and to develop a freely available CAC calculator.

Methods And Results: All participants from two population-based cardiac CT screening cohorts (DanRisk and DANCAVAS) were included.

Advanced heart sound analysis as a new prognostic marker in stable coronary artery disease.

Aims: Recent technological advances enable diagnosing of obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) from heart sound analysis with a high negative predictive value. However, the prognostic impact of this approach remains unknown. To investigate the prognostic value of heart sound analysis as two scores, the Acoustic-score and the CAD-score, in patients with suspected CAD which is treated according to standard of care.

Aim: This national retrospective Danish study described the characteristics of children diagnosed with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, an inherited X-linked recessive disorder that often affects children of Middle Eastern descent.

Methods: We studied children born between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2017 and diagnosed with G6PD deficiency. They were identified from the Danish National Hospital Discharge Register and the Danish Database of Extreme Neonatal Hyperbilirubinaemia.

Real-world use of cardioprotective glucose-lowering drugs in patients with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease: A Danish nationwide cohort study, 2012 to 2019.

Aims: To investigate temporal trends in time to initiation of sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors and glucagon-like peptide 1 analogues (cardioprotective glucose-lowering drugs [GLDs]) in patients with a new dual diagnosis of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Materials And Methods: In a cohort study, we identified patients with a new dual diagnosis of T2DM and CVD using linked healthcare data from nationwide registries on drug prescriptions and diagnosis codes. For each calendar year between 2012 and 2018, we examined time to initiation and cumulative user proportions (CUPs) for cardioprotective GLD use 1 and 2 years after the dual diagnosis.

Extent of arterial calcification by conventional vitamin K antagonist treatment.

Background And Aims: Vitamin K antagonists (VKA) remain the most frequently prescribed oral anticoagulants worldwide despite the introduction of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOAC). VKA interfere with the regeneration of Vitamin K1 and K2, essential to the activation of coagulation factors and activation of matrix-Gla protein, a strong inhibitor of arterial calcifications. This study aimed to clarify whether VKA treatment was associated with the extent of coronary artery calcification (CAC) in a population with no prior cardiovascular disease (CVD).
