Nationa Medical Commission (NMC) had recently undertook the revision of Undergraduate CBME curriculum. the Authors were involved in Psychiatry curriculum revision. In this paper, authors explain the process of revision, the rationale behind the changes made and make specific suggestions for the better implementation of the revised curriculum.

Neuroimmunometabolism: How Metabolism Orchestrates Immune Response in Healthy and Diseased Brain.

Neuroimmunometabolism describes how neuroimmune cells, such as microglia, adapt their intracellular metabolic pathways to alter their immune functions in the CNS. Emerging evidence indicates that neurons also orchestrate the microglia mediated immune response through neuro-immune crosstalk perhaps through metabolic signalling. However, little is known about how the brain's metabolic microenvironment and microglial intracellular metabolism orchestrate the neuroimmune response in healthy and diseased brains.

Recruitment, follow-up and survival in an 11-country cohort study of patients at the end of life and their relatives.

Background: Large, international cohort studies generate high-level evidence, but are resource intense. In end-of-life care such studies are scarce. Hence, planning for future studies in terms of data on screening, recruitment, retention and survival remains a challenge.

The newborn behavioural observations (NBO) system embedded in routine postpartum care in at-risk families in Iceland: a randomised controlled trial.

Background: The Newborn Behaviour Observation system (NBO) is a flexible relationship-based intervention designed to sensitise parents to their newborn's capacities, to increase parental confidence and foster the bond between parent and infant. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of an NBO intervention on maternal confidence during the first month postpartum, and on the quality of mother-infant interaction at infant age 4 months in a sample of mothers who exhibit elevated signs of distress or depression during pregnancy and/or describe prior experiences of mental health issues.

Method: Pregnant women with current emotional distress and/or a history of anxiety and depression were recruited from a healthcare centre in Reykjavik, between August 2016 and April 2018.

This study investigates the effects of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) at varying concentrations on banana starch-based bioplastic films, using glycerol as a plasticizer.

Mitochondrial phosphatase PPTC7 promotes EGFR recycling by facilitating VPS4A endosomal localization.

PPTC7 is a mitochondrial phosphatase that is essential for mitochondrial biogenesis, metabolism, protein content maintenance and transport. While the mitochondrial roles of PPTC7 are well-characterized, its roles outside the mitochondria are unclear. Here we identified a non-mitochondrial role for PPTC7 in regulating epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) trafficking.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-transmitted alphavirus causing fever, myalgia, and debilitating joint swelling and pain, which in many patients becomes chronic. The frequent epidemics of CHIKV across the world pose a significant public health burden necessitating the development of effective antiviral therapeutics. A cellular imaging-based high-content screening of natural compounds identified withaferin A (WFA), a steroidal lactone isolated from the plant Withania somnifera, as a potent antiviral against CHIKV.

Advances in chemical and microbial source tracking (MST) of fecal pollution in coastal waters: a review.

Coastal waters are the ultimate destination for both point and non-point sources of contamination. The uncontrolled dicharge of fecal waste into the ocean harms natural resources, marine life, and poses health risks to humans. Regular monitoring of coastal water quality and source tracking is important to prevent disease outbreaks.

Device-measured physical activity in adults born preterm with very low birth weight and mediation by motor abilities.

Physical activity (PA) is beneficial for several health outcomes. Adults born with very low birth weight (VLBW<1500g) undertake less PA than those born at term, have poorer motor abilities and may serve as a model on early life origins of PA. We therefore examined whether motor abilities mediate the association between being born with VLBW and device-measured PA.

The development of new photochromic systems is motivated by the possibility of controlling the properties and functions of materials with high spatial and temporal resolution in a reversible manner. While there are several classes of photoswitches operating in solution, the design of systems efficiently operating in the solid state remains highly challenging, mainly due to limitations related to confinement effects. Triaryl-hydrazones represent a relatively new subclass of bistable hydrazone photoswitches exhibiting efficient / photochromism in solution.

Strategic Switching from Conventional Urea to Nano-Urea for Sustaining the Rice-Wheat Cropping System.

In the face of declining crop yields, inefficient fertilizer usage, nutrient depletion, and limited water availability, the efficiency of conventional NPK fertilizers is a critical issue in India. The hypothesis of this study posits that nano-nitrogen could enhance growth and photosynthetic efficiency in crop plants compared to conventional fertilizers. For this, a randomized block design (RBD) field experiment was conducted with six treatments: no nitrogen (T1), 100% N through urea (T2), and varying levels of N replacement with nano-nitrogen (33%: T3; 50%: T4; 66%: T5; and 100%: T6).

Recent research emphasizes the alterations in autoantibodies against carbonic anhydrase I (CA I) (anti-CA I) levels as potential prognostic markers for various malignancies. Particularly, autoantibodies targeting CA I and II appear to induce cellular damage by inhibiting their respective protein's catalytic functions.

Development and validation of the Italian digit-in-noise test.

Objectives: This research aims to validate the digits-in-noise (DIN) test for the Italian language and develop a version capable of independently assessing both ears while maintaining acceptable administration times.

Methods: Individual digits from 0 to 9 in Italian were recorded and adjusted to equalise recognition probabilities. An iOS application (APP) was developed for the independent ear test using triplets in noise.

The photocatalytic degradation of unwanted organic species has been investigated for decades using modified and non-modified titania nanostructures. In the present study, we investigate the co-catalytic effect of single atoms (SAs) of Pt and Pt nanoparticles on titania substrates on the degradation of the two typical photodegradation model pollutants: Acid Orange 7 (AO7) and Rhodamine B (RhB). For this, we use highly defined sputter deposited anatase layers and load them with Pt SAs at different loading densities or alternatively with Pt nanoparticles.

Interaction of unphosphorylated PtsN with the K/H antiporter YcgO inhibits its activity in Escherichia coli.

Genetic studies in Escherichia coli have implicated the unphosphorylated version of PtsN (unphospho-PtsN), the terminal phospho-acceptor of the PtsP-PtsO-PtsN phosphorelay, as a negative regulator of potassium (K) efflux mediated by YcgO. YcgO is a protein belonging to the CPA1 family of monovalent cation/proton antiporters. Here we show that in vivo, YcgO comprises an approximately 383 amino acid N-terminal transmembrane domain (TMD) and a 195 amino acid C-terminal cytoplasmic region (CTR).
