Introduction: Patients with cancer experience physical, mental, and social pain that affects themselves and their families. The increasing cancer incidence and advances in treatment have increased the number of cancer survivors in Korea, and there is an influx of patients in Seoul and other metropolitan areas, leading to shortages of continuous care and comprehensive life support facilities. Patients must travel long distances for treatment, which poses logistical and quality-of-life challenges.

Background: This prospective cohort study aimed to assess whether postoperative radiotherapy could safely be omitted in women ≥ 65 years with low-risk, estrogen receptor (ER)-positive T1N0 breast cancer treated with breast-conserving surgery and adjuvant endocrine therapy.
Methods: Eligible patients were women ≥ 65 years with unifocal, non-lobular, grade 1 or 2, ER-positive, pT1N0 breast cancer treated with breast-conserving surgery and endocrine therapy for five years. Patients were followed up with mammography at least annually for 10 years.

Purpose: Identifying the palliative care needs of patients with advanced cancer is important for maintaining quality of life and timely transition to palliative care. We aimed to validate the Korean Sheffield Profile for Assessment and Referral for Care (K-SPARC) in such patients and establish its psychometric properties, including reliability, validity, and responsiveness to change.
Materials And Methods: We used the forward-back translated version of SPARC, which was verified through a pilot study, to assess the palliative care needs of patients with advanced cancer.
Background: Mirvetuximab soravtansine-gynx (MIRV) is a first-in-class, folate receptor alpha (FRα)-targeting antibody-drug conjugate with US Food and Drug Administration approval for FRα-positive platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. PICCOLO is a phase 2, global, open-label, single-arm trial of MIRV as third-line or greater (≥3L) treatment in patients with FRα-positive (≥75% of cells with ≥2+ staining intensity) recurrent platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer (PSOC).
Patients And Methods: Participants received MIRV (6 mg/kg adjusted ideal body weight every 3 weeks) until progressive disease (PD), unacceptable toxicity, withdrawal of consent, or death.

we propose equity in representation on who hosts cancer related conferences! It's time for Low and middle income to also rent their academic spaces!, this unfortunately is one of the ways to sort the visa injustices for cancer care providers in LMICs.

Recent epidemiological and experimental studies have increasingly highlighted the association between environmental pollution, especially ultrafine particulate matter (PM), and the risk of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease (PD). These previous studies suggest a potential mechanism by which ultrafine PM contributes to neuronal damage through processes, such as iron accumulation and oxidative stress. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the effects of ultrafine PM on ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of cell death, in the mouse substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc) and to evaluate the protective role of α-lipoic acid (ALA).

Background: Bortezomib (B), known as Velcade, is a reversible proteasome inhibitor approved for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) patients (pts). The standard of care protocol includes eight cycles of intravenous push (IVP) injections of B and oral dexamethasone (D), which increases the toxicity. Here, we describe the results of an open-label, phase II clinical trial employing only four cycles of B/D.

Background: Varying obesogenic inherited predisposition in early to later life may differentially impact colorectal cancer (CRC) development. Previous Mendelian randomization (MR) studies, conducted in populations of European genetic similarity, have not observed any significant associations between early life body weight with CRC risk. However, it remains unclear whether body mass index (BMI) at different early lifetime points is causally related with CRC risk in both Europeans and East Asian populations.

Purpose: End-of-life decision-making, particularly relating to withholding life-sustaining treatment (LST), is a complex and emotionally charged process involving healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers.
Methods: This qualitative study explored the decision-making process in South Korea, where cultural norms and ethical considerations influence the dynamics of shared decision-making (SDM). In-depth interviews were conducted with healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers using a grounded theory approach to elucidate the themes and processes underlying SDM for LST.

Purpose: Squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN) is the sixth most common cancer, with approximately 225,419 new cases with over 125,000 deaths annually in India. This trial compared the efficacy and safety of biosimilar cetuximab versus innovator cetuximab (IC) in combination with platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with recurrent locoregional or metastatic SCCHN.
Methods: This phase III trial is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind and parallel group study performed in Indian patients with recurrent locoregional or metastatic SCCHN.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to systematically examine the normal tissue objective (NTO) function by comparing its variations for planning solitary brain metastasis with intensity-modulated and volumetric-modulated arc radiosurgery techniques.
Materials And Methods: Twenty-two cases were retrospectively planned with two NTO parameter sets named A and B using intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) techniques. The Type A set used slope, k = 0.

Collecting large amounts of radiotherapy (RT) data from clinical systems is known to be a challenging task. Still, data collections outside the original RT systems are needed to follow-up on the quality of cancer care and to improve RT. This paper aims to describe how RT data is collected nationally in Denmark and Sweden for this purpose and gives an overview of the stored information in both countries' national data sources.

Background: Young patients ≤ 50 years old with multiple myeloma (MM) account for about 10% of cases and are underrepresented in the literature.
Methods: We explored disease characteristics, treatments, and outcomes following modern therapies of young MM patients using the Canadian Myeloma Research Group (CMRG) database. We included 493 patients ≤ 50 years old diagnosed with MM or plasma cell leukemia without concurrent amyloidosis or POEMS syndrome from January 1, 2010, to July 1, 2022.

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV)-based cervical screening is a globally recommended public health policy. Randomised clinical trials find superior performance of primary HPV-based screening compared with cytology for preventing cervical cancer. However, additional evidence from real-world public health policies is needed.

Introduction: Obinutuzumab is hypothesized to improve progression-free survival (PFS) combined with bendamustine induction in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). Measurable-residual disease (MRD) testing may predict benefit from maintenance therapy.
Methods: Adults (≥ 18 years) with untreated MCL ineligible for intensive therapies received 4 to 6 cycles of bendamustine + obinutuzumab (BO) followed by consolidation obinutuzumab (CO).

Lung transplantation (LTx) is a well-known treatment for end-stage lung disease. This study aimed to report the incidence of cancer after LTx and long-term outcome among lung transplant recipients with a pretransplant diagnosis of cancer. Patients who underwent LTx between 1990-2016 were included in the study.
