Tumor-associated erythema annulare centrifugum is commonly observed in leukemia and lymphoma. In this case, we reported erythema annulare centrifugum associated with lung cancer that resolved following targeted drug therapy. A 71-year-old man with psoriasis visited our hospital with erythema annulare and pruritus.

Background And Aims: The impact of hepatitis C virus (HCV) eradication via direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapy on overall mortality, particularly non-liver-related mortality, is understudied.
Methods: We recruited 4180 patients with chronic HCV infection who achieved sustained virological response (SVR) (HCV eradication) through DAA therapy (n = 2501, SVR group) or who did not receive antiviral therapy (n = 1679, non-SVR group); 1236 from each group were chosen using propensity score matching. Causes of death and all-cause mortality, including non-liver-related diseases, were investigated.
Aflibercept (AFL) plus FOLFIRI prolongs overall survival (OS) in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). However, there is limited evidence on the efficacy and safety of AFL plus FOLFIRI previously treated with anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) agents. Therefore, we conducted a prospective open-label phase II trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of AFL plus FOLFIRI in Japanese patients with mCRC failing a prior oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy plus an anti-EGFR agent.

Objective: To test the hypothesis that neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT) is more effective against hot esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and that it may upregulate tumor immunogenicity.
Background: There have been several recent reports showing the efficacy of immune check-point inhibitors (ICIs) against esophageal cancer, especially immunologically hot tumors. In addition, several studies have suggested that chemotherapy and radiotherapy may convert cold tumors to hot tumors.

Clinical roles of plasma IL-6 levels have been reported in patients with various cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). However, the roles of other IL-6 signaling components, soluble IL-6 receptor (sIL-6R) and soluble gp130 (sgp130), in the plasma have not been elucidated. Blood was collected from 106 patients with NSCLC before initiation of ICI treatment (anti-PD-1 or anti-PD-L1 antibody).

Systemic lupus erythematosus is known to cause autoimmune hyperlipidemia. We present a case in which hypertriglyceridemia was exacerbated by dermatomyositis. A 53-year-old woman with a medical history of undertreated hypertriglyceridemia complained of dyspnea and arthralgia.

Introduction: Vasculitis does not usually induce glandular tissue lesions. Herein, we present a case of vasculitis with a distribution similar to that of immunoglobulin-G4-related disease (IgG4-RD), including that of the submandibular and lacrimal glands, and periaortitis.
Case Report: A 70-year-old man presented with shortness of breath.
Background And Aim: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) surveillance in low-risk patients (annual incidence <1.5%) is not recommended per the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases guidelines. Because patients with chronic hepatitis C with non-advanced fibrosis who have achieved sustained virological response (SVR) have a low risk of HCC, HCC surveillance is not recommended for them.

The effects of gene polymorphisms or prior irinotecan treatment on treatment outcomes of nanoliposomal-irinotecan plus 5-fluorouracil/leucovorin (nal-IRI+5-FU/LV) in patients with unresectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) are not established. This multicenter, retrospective cohort study compared treatment outcomes in patients with and those with or genotypes. We also analyzed the impact of prior irinotecan treatment on survival outcomes in 54 patients treated with nal-IRI+5-FU/LV.

Background: Although initial therapy with a parenteral anticoagulant is required before edoxaban, this strategy is frequently avoided in actual clinical practice because of its complexity. This study assessed the feasibility of edoxaban without initial heparin usage for asymptomatic cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT) in Japanese patients with gastrointestinal cancer (GIC) at high risk of bleeding.
Methods: In this multicenter prospective feasibility study conducted at 10 Japanese institutions, patients with active GIC who developed accidental asymptomatic CAT during chemotherapy were recruited.

Intestinal tuberculosis can cause strangulated small bowel obstruction. Strangulated small bowel obstruction usually requires surgery. We report a case of a patient with intestinal tuberculosis, who developed a spontaneously resolving strangulated small bowel obstruction after the commencement of anti-tuberculosis drugs.

Background/aim: For patients with T1a muscularis mucosae (MM) esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) with lymphovascular invasion (LVI) or T1b submucosal (SM) ESCC, endoscopic resection is non-curative, and adjuvant treatment entailing esophagectomy or definitive chemoradiotherapy is necessary. This is because about 30% of these cases have lymph node (LN) metastasis. The purpose of this study was to test the utility of a CRP genetic polymorphism test kit for determining the risk of LN metastasis with the aim of eliminating additional invasive adjuvant therapy.
