The dissemination of antibiotic resistance genes between bacteria leads to serious problems in the treatment of infectious diseases. It has been shown that resistance genes can also be carried by the integrons. There are limited studies regarding the carriage of class 1 and 2 integrons in Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical strains in Turkey.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates were collected form a Turkish hospital. Antimicrobial susceptibility was performed using the Vitek 2 Compact system, and 24 isolates were categorized as multidrug resistant (n = 18), extensively-drug resistant (n = 5), or pan-drug resistant (n = 1). PCR and DNA sequence analysis revealed that 1 strain possessed the blaGES-5 and another carried a novel blaVIM variant, named VIM-38.

This study investigated serum paraoxonase (PON1) and arylesterase activity along with determination of oxidative status via measurement of total oxidant status (TOS), total anti-oxidant status (TAS) and oxidative stress index (OSI) in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and compared results with data from healthy controls. A total of 82 subjects, including 42 patients with idiopathic PD, newly diagnosed and untreated (24 men, 18 women, aged 47-66 years) and 40 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. We aimed to evaluate the oxidative status of PD patients via measurement of serum TOS and TAS and estimation of OSI using new automated methods.

Aim: We assessed out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients' cerebral oxygenation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using near infrared spectrophotometry (NIRS). We evaluated the relation between a rise in patients' cerebral saturation values between the start and end of CPR and return of spontaneous circulation.
Materials And Methods: Twenty-three patients with unwitnessed out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and brought to our emergency department by emergency ambulance were evaluated.

Acinetobacter baumannii is an important pathogen in hospitalized patients, particularly those in the intensive care unit (ICU). A total of 21 A. baumannii (6 from 5 patients and 15 from environmental samples) were isolated in the ICU and the isolation room of a state hospital in June 2011.

Purpose: To compare the outcomes of vascular access (VA) procedures performed using physical examination (PE) alone to PE and ultrasound vein mapping for assessment of patients needing hemodialysis access.
Methods: Comparative analysis of data obtained by retrospective review of records of 63 patients who underwent PE and vascular mapping (VM) using colored Doppler ultrasonography (CDUS) and 76 patients assessed by physical examination alone to schedule vascular access surgery. The parameters assessed to study the impact of these two different pre-operative assessment approaches included selection of surgical site, procedure, construction of arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) and grafts (AVG), negative surgical exploration rates and surgical outcomes (maturation and patency rates).

This study was undertaken to compare early postoperative results, programmed multi-detector row computed tomography coronary angiographic patency and midterm results of revascularization by sequential radial artery grafting with those of single radial artery grafting during a five-year period. Patients were grouped as those with sequential radial artery grafts (Group A, n = 27) and single radial artery grafts (Group B, n = 26). Multi-detector row computed tomography coronary angiography was scheduled at 1 and 5 years postoperatively.
