Oxidative stress plays a key role in the immunopathogenesis of asthma. The objective of this study was to investigate the thymol effects on oxidative parameters along with trace elements in asthma experimental model. The Balb/c mice were sensitized by intraperitoneal injection of ovalbumin and thymol (8, 16 and 32 mg/kg) and dexamethasone (DEX) (2 mg/kg) were orally administered to sensitized mice.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and functional outcome of Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score with that of Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation Score II (APACHE II) in patients with multiple trauma admitted to the ICU.

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 125 patients with traumatic brain injury associated with systemic trauma admitted to the ICU of Shahid Kamyab Hospital, Mashhad, between September 2015 and December 2016. On the day of admission, data were collected from each patient to calculate GCS and APACHE II scores.

Intravitreal Injection of Anti-vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Agents for Ocular Vascular Diseases: Clinical Practice Guideline.

Aneurysmal enlargement of the left atrial appendage is an extremely rare pathology and can predispose to adverse events, including cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, arrhythmia, heart failure, systemic thromboembolism, or rupture. It is usually diagnosed incidentally or after the occurrence of atrial tachyarrhythmias or thrombotic events in the second to fourth decades of life. We describe a rare case of a symptomatic giant congenital left atrial appendage aneurysm (LAAA) in a 26-year-old man presenting with neurologic event, in whom surgical resection of the aneurysm was successfully performed.

Dosimetric verification of small fields in the lung using lung-equivalent polymer gel and Monte Carlo simulation.

Purpose: The main purpose of this study was evaluate a polymer-gel-dosimeter (PGD) for three-dimensional verification of dose distributions in the lung that is called lung-equivalent gel (LEG) and then to compare its result with Monte Carlo (MC) method.

Materials And Methods: In the present study, to achieve a lung density for PGD, gel is beaten until foam is obtained, and then sodium dodecyl sulfate is added as a surfactant to increase the surface tension of the gel. The foam gel was irradiated with 1 cm × 1 cm field size in the 6 MV photon beams of ONCOR SIEMENS LINAC, along the central axis of the gel.

Locking plate and fibular strut-graft augmentation in the reconstruction of unicameral bone cyst of proximal femur in the paediatric population.

An overview on small-field dosimetry in photon beam radiotherapy: Developments and challenges.

Small fields are more repeatedly used for radiation therapy as small segments in intensity-modulated radiotherapy or as in the form of independent fields in stereotactic radiosurgery and other novel equipment such as cyberknife and tomotherapy. Nevertheless, the application of small fields for radiotherapy of lung makes the dose calculation and planning inaccurate due to the existence of electronic disequilibrium and intrinsic deficiencies within most of the analytical dose calculation algorithms. The current review attempts to gather the information in this regard and focuses on the current progresses and retaining issues associated with this type of photon beams.

A case of recurrent hematuria in primary prostatic low grade mucosa associated lymphoid tissue.

A novel atheroprotective role of MF59-like adjuvant when co-administered with CETP vaccine in rabbit model of atherosclerosis.

Objectives: In this study, for the first time, MF59 adjuvant was used to develop a cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) vaccine. The efficacy of the vaccine was compared with the efficacy of CETP vaccine formulated with Alum/CpG, the formulation that its immunogenicity has been already demonstrated in rabbit and mice.

Materials And Methods: Tetanus toxoid- CETP peptide (TT-CETP) was mixed with Alum/CpG or MF59-like and administered subcutaneously for total five times in rabbit model of atherosclerosis.

Successful surgical management of a case of congenital aneurysm of the left sinus of Valsalva involving the left main coronary artery has been reported. To our knowledge, this is the first report describing an unusual case of congenital aneurysm of the left sinus of Valsalva, which involves the left main coronary artery.

Efficacy and toxicity of Samen-ista emulsion on treatment of cutaneous and mucosal bleeding.

Despite new treatment methods, upper gastrointestinal bleeding remains challenging. Samen-ista emulsion is a new agent based on traditional medicine with coagulant properties. The efficacy and safety of Samen-ista were assessed in cutaneous and mucosal bleeding animal models.

Central Venous Cannulation of the Internal Jugular Vein Using Ultrasound-Guided and Anatomical Landmark Techniques.

Background: Central venous cannulation is a current and important procedure used in the operating room and intensive care unit. Some studies have shown that the application of ultrasound-guided cannulation can improve the success rate of surgery, save time, reduce the number of required needlesticks, and mitigate many complications compared to anatomical landmark-guided cannulation.

Objectives: The aim of the present study was to draw a comparison between central venous cannulation of the internal jugular vein using ultrasound-guided and anatomical landmark-guided techniques.

Anti-atherosclerosis effect of different doses of CETP vaccine in rabbit model of atherosclerosis.
