Background: A cancer diagnosis is a powerful, unanticipated, and occasionally traumatic event which impacts an individual with evidence of a life-threatening illness. As a potentially terminal illness, cancer entails substantial physical, emotional, and psychological costs. Even though psychological resources such as social support and resilience promote post-traumatic growth, chronic stressors experienced by cancer patients have the potential to weaken the function of such positive resources.

With the growth of the chemical industry over the last decade, the need for cheaper (and more environmentally friendly) alternatives to petrochemicals of ever-increasing cost has grown steadily. Oleochemicals and biodiesel (OC/BD) are considered as green alternatives to petroleum derivatives, because they come from renewable oils and fats. OC/BD are currently produced by the traditional energy intensive chemical catalyzed methods, which have several economic and environmental drawbacks.

In an era characterized by growing environmental concerns and the urgent call for climate action, the role of green finance in addressing ecological sustainability has become a subject of paramount importance. Owing to this need, the current study examines the nonlinear relationship between green finance and environmental sustainability in 51 developing countries from 2000 to 2022. We employ various advanced panel estimation techniques, including Driscoll-Kraay standard errors (D-K), Feasible generalized least squares (FGLS), Generalized linear model (GLM), and System GMM to examine the long-run impact of this association.

In recent decades, many research studies have been conducted for the development of some new modifications of different baseline distributions to cope with real-world problems. This paper proposes a novel generalization of probability distributions, called modified type- II half-logistic distribution. We have derived the new family of probability distributions using T-X family with input as a type II variant of the half-logistic distribution.

Antibiotics have been a vital component in the fight against microbial diseases for over 75 years, saving countless lives. However, the global rise of multi-drug-resistance (MDR) bacterial infections is pushing us closer to a post-antibiotic era where common infections may once again become lethal. To combat MDR Acinetobacter baumannii, we investigated chiral phthalimides and used molecular docking to identify potential targets.

Antibacterial resistance requires an advanced strategy to increase the efficacy of current therapeutics in addition to the synthesis of new generations of antibiotics. In this study, copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) were green synthesized using Moringa oleifera root extract. CuO-NPs fabricated into a form of aspartic acid-ciprofloxacin-polyethylene glycol coated copper oxide-nanotherapeutics (CIP-PEG-CuO) to improve the antibacterial activity of NPs and the efficacy of the drug with controlled cytotoxicity.

Tunability of domain structure in partially inverse spinels NiAlO.

Heliyon

May 2024

Polymer Composite Group, Directorate of Science, PINSTECH, P.O. Nilore, Islamabad, Pakistan.

Re-arrangement of cationic distribution in partially inverse spinel NiAlO by using chemical pressure perturbation is studied. Structural, impedance and magnetic analysis suggest presence of regions/domains inside the grain/bulk with same lattice arrangement but varying in cationic oxidation state. Perturbing the cationic distribution in the grain via low concentrations of ambivalence substituent rearranges the cationic distribution across these domains within the partially inverse spinel lattice without disturbing the crystal structure.
