Background: Finding patients at risk of developing contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) is important because of its associated complications. In the present study, the contribution of different variables, such as the presence of metabolic syndrome (MetS), the volume creatinine clearance (V/CrCl) ratio, the iodine-dose (I-dose)/CrCl ratio, or hypertension, to CI-AKI was evaluated.
Methods: A total of 255 patients undergoing elective coronary angiography with or without intervention were enrolled and divided into a MetS and a control group.

Streptokinase is a fibrinolytic agent that enhances plasmin activation and is used in selected patients with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Similar to the other thrombolytics, a common side effect is bleeding, especially from venous puncture sites. Here, we present a case of acute anterior wall STEMI complicated by large spontaneous iliopsoas hematoma after streptokinase administration.

Primary hepatic lymphoma (PHL) presenting with obstructive jaundice is rare and can mimic a preoperative diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma. We should consider PHL in patients with radiological hepatic disease with normal serum alpha-fetoprotein and carcinoembryonic antigen levels, and elevated lactate dehydrogenase. We present the case of a 67-year-old male with no significant medical history presented with abdominal pain, jaundice, fever, and abnormal liver function tests.

Introduction: Excessive fibrinolysis contributes to post-cardiopulmonary bypass bleeding. Tranexamic Acid (TXA) and Caproamin Fides are synthetic lysine analogues that inhibit plasminogen-fibrin binding. The present study aimed to compare TXA and Caproamin Fides versus placebo in patients undergoing elective coronary artery revascularization.
