Checkpoint immunotherapy by nivolumab for treatment of metastatic melanoma.

J Cancer Res Ther

February 2019

Department of General Medicine, Rangaraya Medical College, NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Clinical management of metastatic melanoma suffered historically from a lack of effective targeted and immunotherapies due to short-lived clinical responses. Recent advances in our understanding of tumor-immune signaling pathways, discovery of immunosuppressive checkpoints, and subsequent development of antibodies that target these checkpoints reverses the situation to some extent. Two antibodies ipilimumab and nivolumab gained Food and Drug administration approval for the treatment of metastatic melanoma and target two major immunosuppressive checkpoints cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen and programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), respectively.

Background And Aims: Magnesium sulfate and midazolam have been used as adjuvants to local anesthetics via intrathecal and epidural routes to augment the quality of block and prolong postoperative analgesia. This study compares addition of intrathecal magnesium sulfate versus intrathecal midazolam to epidurally administered isobaric ropivacaine as a part of combined spinal epidural technique in pre-eclamptic parturients undergoing elective cesarean section.

Material And Methods: After institutional ethics committee approval and written informed consent, 50 pre-eclamptic parturients were randomly allocated to one of the two groups of 25 each to either receive intrathecal magnesium sulfate (50 mg) or intrathecal midazolam (1 mg) in combination with epidural ropivacaine (0.

Role of Escherichia coli in Biofuel Production.

Microbiol Insights

July 2016

Rangaraya Medical College, NTR University of Health Sciences, Kakinada, AP, India.

Increased energy consumption coupled with depleting petroleum reserves and increased greenhouse gas emissions have renewed our interest in generating fuels from renewable energy sources via microbial fermentation. Central to this problem is the choice of microorganism that catalyzes the production of fuels at high volumetric productivity and yield from cheap and abundantly available renewable energy sources. Microorganisms that are metabolically engineered to redirect renewable carbon sources into desired fuel products are contemplated as best choices to obtain high volumetric productivity and yield.
