Background: Textbook oncologic outcome (TOO) is a composite metric shown to correlate with improved survival after curative intent oncologic procedures. Despite increasing use among disciplines in surgical oncology, no consensus exists for its definition in cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC).
Study Design: An international consensus-based study employed a Delphi methodology to achieve agreement.

Introduction: Physical activity (PA) decreases morbidity, improves quality of life and elongates life span. PA during pregnancy is safe and decreases complications. Physical inactivity during pregnancy is an independent risk factor for maternal weight gain and complications.

We present a case of infected non-union of radial diaphysis following closed fracture and open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of the fracture. Treatment included combining the Masquelet technique of induced membrane and autologous bone graft using Reamer-Irrigator-Aspirator harvesting technique. At 10 months post PMMA extraction and autografting (i.

Objective: To present the outcomes of attempts to salvage total graft detachment following Descemet's membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK).
Methods: A search of the electronic medical records of two tertiary medical centers for all patients who underwent DMEK yielded six cases of postoperative total graft detachment (2.54%).

Objective: In this research, we introduce a new methodology for atrial fibrillation (AF) diagnosis during sleep in a large population sample at risk of sleep-disordered breathing.
Approach: The approach leverages digital biomarkers and recent advances in machine learning (ML) for mass AF diagnosis from overnight-hours of single-channel electrocardiogram (ECG) recording. Four databases, totaling n = 3088 patients and p = 26 913 h of continuous single-channel electrocardiogram raw data were used.

Xeroderma pigmentosum is an orphan hereditary photosensitive human disorder that is recognized by the development of skin lesions in sun-exposed regions of the body due to severe photosensitivity. Patients with this condition have an abnormal DNA repair process due to a genetic mutation. Xeroderma pigmentosum is considered as a risk factor of cancer since the affected population may develop various cutaneous cancers including both melanoma and non-melanoma cutaneous malignancies even at a younger age than the general population.

Background: Head trauma is one of the most common reasons for pediatric emergency medicine department (PED) visits. Computerized tomography (CT) scan is considered the criterion standard for the diagnosis of traumatic brain injury but was shown to increases the risk of malignancies.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed collected data of all children (ages 0-16 years) experiencing mild head trauma who were admitted to a single center, from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2015.

Background: Under the 'Choosing Wisely' (CW) framework, professional organisations internationally have advocated limiting imaging for asymptomatic patients following curative cancer therapy, based on limited value and high cost. F18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography-CT (PET/CT) was widely adopted locally for surveillance lymphoma imaging after 2004.
Objectives: Prior to ratification of a local CW recommendation to limit surveillance imaging in lymphoma, we aimed to assess: (A) performance characteristics of surveillance FDG-PET/CT; (B) rates, clinical consequences and costs of false positives (FP); and (C) patients and professionals' attitudes towards overuse.

Introduction: With the emergence in recent years of advanced surgical methods for treatment of diaphyseal fractures of the tibia bone, there appears to be a decline in the familiarity and use of the conservative treatment based on weight bearing casts and early weight bearing. This phenomenon, dubbed "the surgery epidemic" by Dr. Sarmiento, one of the forefathers of tibial fractures treatment, refers to orthopedics surgeons' tendency to treat surgically, even in patients viable for conservative treatment.

Romidepsin is a class I selective histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for relapsed/refractory (R/R) cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) and peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL), treated with at least one prior systemic therapy. Currently, there is paucity of real-life data on the efficacy and safety of romidepsin in R/R T-cell lymphoma. This national, multicenter study presents real-life data on the efficacy and safety of romidepsin in R/R T-cell lymphoma.

Aim: To elucidate the association of treatment modality to vitreoretinal fibrosis and traction retinal detachment (TRD) in Coats' disease.
Methods: A PubMed search for Coats' disease with included studies describing eyes with clinical features and treatment course of Coats' disease. Binary logistic regression with fibrosis at presentation and treatment type as independent variables was performed to determine predictors of TRD historically (since 1921) and in the anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) era (since 2007).

The epigenetic dynamics of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) reprogramming in correctly reprogrammed cells at high resolution and throughout the entire process remain largely undefined. Here, we characterize conversion of mouse fibroblasts into iPSCs using Gatad2a-Mbd3/NuRD-depleted and highly efficient reprogramming systems. Unbiased high-resolution profiling of dynamic changes in levels of gene expression, chromatin engagement, DNA accessibility, and DNA methylation were obtained.

Introduction: Internal mammary lymph node (IMN) chain assessment for breast cancer is controversial; however, current oncologic data have shed new light on its importance. Metastatic involvement of the IMN chain has implications for staging, prognosis, treatment, and survival. Here, we analyzed our data gathered during sampling of the IMN and the oncologic treatment changes that resulted from our findings.

Background: The developing fetus is susceptible to environmental insults. Studying the effects of environmental exposures on fetal growth is essential for understanding the causal pathway between prenatal exposures and pregnancy outcomes. Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) is an incurable disease with a median overall survival of 10 months. Immune modulating antibodies have recently emerged as a highly promising treatment modality in multiple cancer types. We present results from the first study to evaluate the immune modulating antibody MDV9300 (pidilizumab) in pediatric patients with DIPG.

Purpose: The data on the association between hormone replacement therapy and the increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in postmenopausal women are conflicting. The observed differences between oral estrogen and oral estrogen-progestogen combination formulations may be the result of bias from depletion of susceptibles.
Methods: We used United Kingdom's Clinical Practice Research Datalink to identify the cohort of all women aged 50 to 79 during 1987-2008, with all incident cases of VTE occurring during the study period identified.

Current surgical and non-surgical eschar removal-debridement techniques are invasive or ineffective. A bromelainbased rapid and selective enzymatic debriding agent was developed to overcome these disadvantages and compared with the standard of care (SOC). The safety and efficacy of a novel Debriding Gel Dressing (DGD) was determined in patients with deep partial and full thickness burns covering up to 67% total body surface area (TBSA).

Introduction: Changes in the epidemiology of Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia (SAB) have been described in recent decades. Decreased mortality has been reported over time, mostly from countries with low methicillin resistance rates. We aimed to describe time trends in SAB in a tertiary center with high methicillin resistance rates.

Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) can be cured by allogeneic hemopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Complications include graft failure, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), infection, and transplant-related mortality; therefore, reduced-intensity conditioning regimens are being used to improve outcomes. In this retrospective study, the aim was to determine the outcome of treosulfan-based conditioning in HSCT for pediatric patients with CGD.
