Background And Objectives: Antibodies to proteolipid protein-1 (PLP1-IgG), a major central myelin protein also expressed in the peripheral nervous system (PNS) as the isoform DM20, have been previously identified mostly in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), with unclear clinical implications. However, most studies relied on nonconformational immunoassays and included few patients with non-MS CNS autoimmune demyelinating disorders (ADDs). We aimed to investigate conformational PLP1-IgG in the whole ADD spectrum.

Long-Term Effectiveness of Dupilumab in Severe Uncontrolled Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps: A Multicenter Retrospective Study.

Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a complex immunological disease associated with significant morbidity and reduced health-related quality of life. Dupilumab is an anti-T2-inflammatory biological drug registered for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, indicated by integrated care pathways when optimal medico-surgical treatment yields insufficient control of sinonasal symptoms.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to confirm the long-term efficacy of dupilumab in the treatment of severe uncontrolled CRSwNP.

Takotsubo Syndrome After Pacemaker Implantation: A Case Report and Literature Review.

A 78-year-old male patient with complete atrioventricular block underwent an uncomplicated pacemaker implantation. After 24 h, he presented acute chest pain, dyspnea, ST-segment-elevation in the anterior leads, left ventricular apical ballooning, and an ejection fraction of 35%. His coronary angiogram was normal.

Dysgeusia and Chronic Kidney Disease: A Scoping Review.

The study aims to identify available treatments for educating, screening, and clinically managing dysgeusia in this population. A scoping review was conducted following the protocol of Arksey and O'Malley, incorporating the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology, and adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews guidelines.

External validation of a nomogram for outcome prediction in management of medium-sized (1-2 cm) kidney stones.

Background: Stone nomogram by Micali et al., able topredict treatment failure of shock-wave lithotripsy (SWL), retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL) in the management of single 1-2 cm renal stones, was developed on 2605 patients and showed a high predictive accuracy, with an area under ROC curve of 0.793 at internal validation.

Dynamic changes in T-wave and QTc interval during tilt table testing: Innocent until proven otherwise.

A16-year-old female underwent tilt table testing, which resulted positive for reflex vasodepressive syncope. 12‑lead ECG during syncope showed T-wave inversion in infero-lateral leads, along with QTc interval increase >100 msec compared to baseline. These abnormalities rapidly disappeared in supine position with resumption of consciousness.

Preliminary Evidence of the Differential Expression of Human Endogenous Retroviruses in Kawasaki Disease and SARS-CoV-2-Associated Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a postinfectious sequela of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), with some clinical features overlapping with Kawasaki disease (KD). Our research group and others have highlighted that the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 can trigger the activation of human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs), which in turn induces inflammatory and immune reactions, suggesting HERVs as contributing factors in COVID-19 immunopathology. With the aim to identify new factors involved in the processes underlying KD and MIS-C, we analysed the transcriptional levels of HERVs, HERV-related genes, and immune mediators in children during the acute and subacute phases compared with COVID-19 paediatric patients and healthy controls.
