This study investigates the genetic variations in FcεR1β-109 C/T (rs512555) and TNF-α-308 G/A (rs1800629) genes and examines whether the mosquito repellent transfluthrin (TFT) modifies the risk for asthmatic children. A case-control study was conducted involving 130 asthmatic children and 123 age-sex matched controls. Differential leukocyte counts, IgE, and hs-CRP levels were estimated using a five-part haematology analyzer and Beckman Coulter (AU480), respectively.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to compare the dosimetric parameters of volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) treatment plans using coplanar and noncoplanar beams in patients with bilateral breast cancer/s (BBCs) in terms of organ at risk sparing and target volume coverage. The hypothesis was to test whether VMAT with noncoplanar beams can result in lesser dose delivery to critical organs such as heart and lung, which will result in lesser overall toxicity.
Materials And Methods: Data of nine BBC cases treated at our hospital were retrieved.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the physiological changes and clinical outcomes in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Methods: This prospective cohort study included 50 patients of the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) physical status I and II with mild to moderate COPD (Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) stage I-II) scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy. We monitored heart rate, mean arterial pressure, end-tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO), arterial carbon dioxide (PaCO), and bicarbonate (HCO) levels at baseline, 30 minutes after induction or 15 minutes post-insufflation, 15 minutes post-deflation, and 60 minutes post-operative.

Background: Workplace violence is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as incidents where staff is abused, threatened or assaulted in work settings. In emergency predominated branch like obstetrics, there is a need to study the magnitude and impact of violence against healthcare workers (HCW). Materials and Methodology: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the Department of Obstetrics at 2 centres in Lucknow district, for a period of 6 months.

Background Sepsis is associated with increased Ca levels in many cell types that can cause cytotoxicity and cell death through multiple mechanisms. In patients with sepsis, limiting beta-adrenergic stimulation may also be beneficial. The intense adrenergic stimulation of sepsis results in cardiac and extra-cardiac effects.

Background Pesticide exposure might have a contributory role in the development of acquired aplastic anemia (AA). However, the precise mechanisms of pesticide-induced AA remain unknown. In this case-control study, we conducted a comparative analysis of plasma levels of organochlorine pesticides (OCP) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) between Indian patients diagnosed with AA and an age- and sex-matched control group.

Carcinosarcoma is an aggressive malignant neoplasm separate from adenocarcinoma with need for a radical early treatment for good response and survival. Less than 75 cases have been reported worldwide. Here, we report a case of an asymptomatic carcinosarcoma of stomach in a lady in her 70's presenting incidentally who underwent distal gastrectomy with Billroth II reconstruction for a large epigastric mass along with a review of literature.

Background: We prospectively assessed acute and late toxicity in post-operative oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (PO-OCSCC) treated with adjuvant dysphagia optimized intensity-modulated radiotherapy (Do-IMRT) versus standard IMRT (S-IMRT).
Material And Methods: Fifty-six patients of PO-SCC without indications of concurrent chemotherapy were alternatively allocated to adjuvant Do-IMRT (n = 28) versus S-IMRT (n = 28) arms. High- and low-risk planning target volume received 60 and 54 Gy, respectively, in 30 fractions over 6 weeks.
Purpose: To estimate the frequency distribution of different anatomical positions, and to measure the diameter, wall thickness, and length of appendix in patients with non-appendicular symptoms.
Material And Methods: This retrospective observational study was conducted among 1,575 patients, who had undergone computed tomography (CT) scan of abdomen for various non-appendicular signs and symptoms. Frequency of distribution of different anatomic locations and measurements of various morphologic parameters were recorded.

Purpose: Interstitial brachytherapy (ISBT) is indicated for intact cervical carcinoma (IN-CC) if intracavitary brachytherapy (ICRT) is not feasible and also in vault carcinoma (VA-C). We aimed to evaluate the doses to pelvic lymph node regions in IN-CC and VA-C treated with ISBT.
Material And Methods: Ten patients (6 IN-CC, 4 VA-C) were chosen for this dosimetric study.

Introduction The furosemide stress test (FST) predicts the severity and the need for renal replacement therapy (RRT) in patients with sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (S-AKI). The renal resistive index (RRI) indicates renal vascular resistance. Objectives The primary objective was to find the correlation between FST and RRI in S-AKI.

The developmental anomaly of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) is a rare occurrence. Rete MCA, also known as "unfused," "twig-like," and aplastic MCA, is an even rarer anomaly. These immature rete vessels are prone to flow-related aneurysms which rupture themselves presenting with intraparenchymal hematoma.

Background: Accurate dosimetry is crucial in radiotherapy to ensure optimal radiation dose delivery to the tumor while sparing healthy tissues. Traditional dosimetry techniques using homogeneous phantoms may not accurately represent the complex anatomical variations in cervical cancer patients, highlighting the need to compare dosimetry results obtained from different phantom models.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to design and evaluate an anthropomorphic heterogeneous female pelvic (AHFP) phantom for radiotherapy quality assurance in cervical cancer treatment.
