Delayed Wound Healing Resulting from Inflammatory Process in Craniectomy Patients Treated with BioGlue: A Case Series with Literature Review.

 BioGlue is touted as a safe and effective sealant for various surgical procedures. This article describes five cases of delayed wound healing associated with the use of BioGlue after craniectomies.  Five patients of different genders and ages who had undergone craniectomy with BioGlue were presented to our medical center with wound dehiscence and purulent discharge.

Importance: The Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) alphabet chart is not feasible for measuring best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) for individuals who are unfamiliar with the Roman alphabet. The ETDRS Landolt C chart is an alternative, but it may not reflect true BCVA among those with confusion between left and right. The ETDRS number chart might overcome these limitations, but little is known regarding its reliability.

Background And Study Aims: Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) elastography (EUS-E) and contrast-enhanced harmonic EUS (CH-EUS) are useful methods for the diagnosis of pancreatic lesions. This study aims to compare the accuracy of combined EUS-E and CH-EUS with that of EUS-E or CH-EUS alone in the differential diagnosis of pancreatic solid lesions.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in South East Asia: An analysis of the histopathology, clinical features, and survival from Thailand.

Systemic reports on the descriptive epidemiology of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) from Southeast Asia are scarce. A nationwide multi-institutional registry was conducted to compare the histopathology, clinical features, and survival of Thai adult patients with NHL using large registries, especially those from Far East Asia (FEA). Using a web-based registry system, 13 major medical centers from the 4 geographic regions of Thailand prospectively collected, from 2007 to 2014, the diagnostic pathology, according to the World Health Organization classification, 2008, clinical features and survival of 4056 patients who were newly diagnosed with NHL.

Quality of life in cervical dystonia after treatment with botulinum toxin A: a 24-week prospective study.

Objective: This study aimed to identify possible improvements in disease-specific health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after multiple injections of botulinum toxin A over 24 weeks in Thai cervical dystonia (CD) patients.

Materials And Methods: A 24-week prospective study comparing HRQoL of Thai CD patients before and after multiple injections of botulinum toxin A at 3-month intervals was performed. Background: Hemifacial spasm (HFS) is a common movement disorder presented with unilateral, intermittent, irregular tonic or clonic contraction of facial expression muscles without any identifiable etiology. Comparison of quality of life (QoL) between Dysport and Neuronox has not been studied in HFS patients.

Spinal versus epidural anesthesia for cesarean delivery in severe preeclampsia: a prospective randomized, multicenter study.

Potassium depletion in a healthy north-eastern Thai population: no association with tubulo-interstitial injury.

Potassium depletion prevails among the healthy population of north-east Thailand, as well as among patients with certain metabolic disorders such as upper urinary tract stones, the sudden unexplained death syndrome, distal renal tubular acidosis and hypokalaemic periodic paralysis. However, definite proof of the relationship of potassium depletion and these metabolic disorders is lacking. Prolonged oral etoposide for refractory advanced uterine leiomyosarcoma.

The case of a patient with a uterine leiomyosarcoma (LMS) that rapidly recurred in the pelvis following primary surgery is reported. The tumor was refractory to conventional multiagent chemotherapy that included intravenously administered etoposide (VP-16). Etoposide was then administered orally in a prolonged schedule; this resulted in a sustained partial response with palliation of symptoms.

Isolated transpulmonary repair of tetralogy of Fallot.

Between October 1987 and November 1992, 165 consecutive patients underwent isolated transpulmonary repair for tetralogy of Fallot. Their ages ranged from 1 to 44 years and their weight ranged from 6 to 61 kg (mean 19.4).

Pulmonary approach for closure of ventricular septal defect and resection of infundibular obstruction in malaligned ventricular septum.

Presented is the technique of closure through the pulmonary artery of the perimembranous ventricular septal defects and defects with malaligned septum as an alternative method to the transatrial or transventricular approach. The technique of infundibular resection without opening the right ventricle in cases of tetralogy of Fallot is also described.

Clinical study of juvenile laryngeal papilloma.

For the past 10 years, children with juvenile laryngeal papillomas have been treated with medical and surgical procedures at the many otolaryngology departments in Thailand. Data and statistics on those patients from 6 university hospitals and a medical center under the Ministry of Public Health are presented. Problems and results of medical and surgical treatment are discussed.
