Introduction: Extragenital warts, often known as EGWs, affect between 7% and 10% of the population. Despite the plethora of research on the impact of genital warts (GWs) on "Quality Of Life", EGWs have received little attention. The purpose of this study was to conduct a cross-sectional investigation with the objective of contrasting the effects of GWs and EGWs on the health-related quality of life and other characteristics.

Case series of unscarred uterine rupture in primigravida.

J Family Med Prim Care

July 2022

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Rajendra Institute of Medical Science, Ranchi, Jharkhand, India.

Objective: To present a highly rare case series of uterine rupture in primigravida individuals with an unscarred uterus.

Case: The unscarred uterus in primigravida patients is supposed to be impervious to rupture, yet we have four cases of ruptured uterus in primigravida patients in our institute over a three-year period (2018-2021). In this case series, the ruptured uterus was discovered in primigravida women with premature labour, obstructed labour, instrumental delivery, and abruptio placentae.

Expansion of the measles and rubella laboratory network, India.

Bull World Health Organ

April 2022

Virology Unit, Division of Epidemiology & Communicable Diseases, Indian Council of Medical Research, V. Ramalingaswami Bhawan, P.O. Box No. 4911 Ansari Nagar, New Delhi - 110029, India.

Objective: To expand the measles and rubella laboratory network of India by integrating new laboratories.

Methods: In collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Indian government developed a 10-step scheme to systematically expand the number of laboratories performing serological and molecular testing for measles and rubella. The Indian Council of Medical Research and WHO identified suitable laboratories based on their geographical location, willingness, preparedness, past performance and adherence to national quality control and quality assurance mechanisms.

Background: Provisional stenting is preferred for bifurcation lesion; however, certain anatomical substrate does require two stents as a part of dedicated stent technique. Here, the present study evaluated outcomes of ultra-thin (60 µm) Supra family sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) (Sahajanand Medical Technologies Limited, Surat, India) for dedicated bifurcation lesions using nano-crush technique at 12 months angiographic follow-up.

Methods: This was prospective, single-center observational study which enrolled patients with de novo bifurcation lesion and underwent angioplasty with Supra family SES using nano-crush technique at a tertiary care center in India, between March-2017 and February-2019.

Introduction: This prospective clinical trial was designed to assess the effects of a long-term therapy with spironolactone, with and without dietary-induced weight-loss, on clinical features, lipid profile, and insulin levels in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Materials And Methods: Twenty-five patients (range of age 16-32 year; 13 lean and 12 overweight) fulfilling formal diagnostic criteria for PCOS (oligomenorrhea and/or amenorrhea, biochemical and/or clinical evidence of hyperadrogenism) were studied at baseline and then received oral spironolactone (100 mg/die) for 12 months; association with lifestyle modifications was recommended to all overweight patients. Clinical, endocrine, and metabolic parameters (oral glucose tolerance test [OGTT], lipid profile) were measured at baseline and at the end of the antiandrogen treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • COVID-19 has shown to not only cause respiratory issues but also significantly increase the risk of cardiovascular (CV) events, impacting patient mortality.
  • A study involving 1,000 confirmed COVID-19 patients identified ten independent risk factors linked to CV events, such as age, gender, and certain lab results.
  • The research led to the development of a new risk scoring system that can predict potential CV complications in COVID-19 patients, aiding in their prognosis and management.

Background: Coronary no-reflow (NRF) following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is infrequent but one of the most dreaded complication which results from impaired flow of microvascular bed. It is associated with adverse outcome if flow is not restored. Objective of this study was to find safety, effectiveness and outcome of intracoronary nikorandil (IC) administered using perforated balloon technique (PBT) to reverse NRF.

Background: Long and multiple lesions especially in the background of tortuous coronary artery often require multiple stents. The entry and passage of another stent through an already deployed stent becomes challenging because of poorly expanded stent struts, calcified tissue, underlying tortuosity, highly angulated takeoff of the vessel, and lack of coaxiality. It can be facilitated by balloon deflection technique (BDT) where balloon at proximal edge of main vessel stent over a buddy wire helps to deflect second stent either distally or into side branch by blocking potential dead.

Background: Lesion characteristics (anatomy, calcification, tortuosity and angulation), vessel morphology, and lack of support add complexity of coronary intervention. Guidezilla catheter, acting as an extension of guide catheter system (mother-in-child catheter), helps to overcome these complexities by enhancing backup during complex intervention.

Methods: The present retrospective, single-center study included 13,157 consecutive patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) through both transfemoral and transradial routes from January 2015 to July 2019 at LPS Institute of Cardiology, G.

Background: Among patients undergoing intervention involving venous access, various techniques have been implemented to achieve hemostasis in order to reduce local access site complications, to decrease length of stay and to facilitate early ambulation. We aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of fellow's stitch using "fisherman's knot" (figure of Z (FoZ)) technique when compared with conventional manual compression for immediate closure of large venous sheath (> 10 French (Fr)).

Methods: Between November 2012 and March 2019, 949 patients underwent various interventions which involved venous access requiring hemostasis.

Newborn hearing screening: present scenario.

Indian J Community Med

February 2015

Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat, Rajendra Institute of Medical Science, Ranchi, Jharkhand, India.

In 2009 many countries of the world met to discuss newborn and infant hearing screening current issues and guiding principles for action under World Health Organization (WHO) banner, though most of the countries who had begun this work as universal program or high risk screen do not have exact data and protocol. The developing countries also decided to become part of it and common guideline was proposed. India being part of it included hearing screening as one of the 30 diseases to be screened under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).

Background: QOL (Quality of life) and Disability have been considered inevitable components of schizophrenia from the Biopsychosocial point of view. Studies from over the world have reported significantly lower levels of QOL and higher levels of disability in schizophrenia; but there are equivocal results revealing differences in levels of disability and QOL between genders in schizophrenia.

Aim: To find out the difference in the levels of QOL and disability in both the genders in schizophrenia remission.
