Nanofibers are some of the most attractive materials that can modify functionalities for developing new kinds of specific applications and are mainly used as a biomedical material. Herein, we designed and prepared antibacterial nonwoven fiber mats of PLA and PLA composited with Ag nanoparticles by electrospinning. The comprehensive control of hydroxyapatite (HAp), involving morphological and structural variations, particle sizes, and defect formations, has garnered considerable attention for its versatile functionalities, rendering it applicable in diverse contexts. This work examined the shape, structure and optical characteristics, and defect formation in hydroxyapatite (HAp) extracted from Nile tilapia () scales with various pre-treatments through experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Utilizing scanning electron microscopy, our findings revealed that dried fish scales (FS-D) exhibited a layered pattern of collagen fibers, while boiled fish scales (FS-B) had smoother surfaces and significantly reduced collagen content.

Thermoplastic pultrusion is a suitable process for fabricating continuous unidirectional thermoplastics with a uniform cross-section, high mechanical properties due to continuous fiber reinforcement, low cost, and suitability for mass production. In this study, silk fibroin (SF) was utilized as the starting material to fabricate physically crosslinked hydrogels. Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) was synthesized and characterized as a drug carrier, with insulin as the model drug. PEDOT:PSS, with a high electrical conductivity of 1666 ± 49 S cm, interacted with insulin molecules electrostatic interaction by replacing the dopant PSS molecules.

The one-pot conversion of furfuryl alcohol (FA) into GVL was investigated over the sol-gel-synthesized AlO-SiO (AlSi) catalysts with various AlO loadings (0.2-10 wt %) and commercial zeolites including MFI-1, H-ZSM5, H-beta, and HY-15 in a batch reactor under mild reaction conditions (130 °C, 1 bar N, and 15-120 min). The reaction pathways depend largely on the acid properties of the catalysts, especially the types of Bronsted (B) and Lewis (L) acid sites.

This study aimed to assess various weights of spun-bonded nonwoven polypropylene (PP) fabrics for wrapping outdoor-grown melons, providing cost-effective options for both construction and insect protection. Fruit wrap bags were crafted using different materials, and spun-bond fabrics with weights of 30, 40, 50, and 60 gsm were tested for encasing melons. The results demonstrated that the 50 gsm spun-bonded bags significantly improved melon growth after a four-week period, establishing them as the preferred choice for outdoor melon cultivation.
