[Hybrid intervention for an atherosclerotic lesion of arteries of the iliofemoral segment].

The article describes a clinical case report regarding a successfully performed hybrid intervention in a patient presenting with critical ischaemia of a lower limb and an atherosclerotic lesion of arteries of the iliofemoral segment. Endovascular reconstruction in an isolated manner turned out to be impossible for both technical and anatomical reasons, whereas open reconstruction required two surgical accesses, an extended scope of the operation, and the use of a synthetic graft. Using a hybrid approach favourably contributed to adequate restoration of blood flow in the ischaemized limb, a decrease in the traumatic nature of the intervention, and also ensured angiographic control over the state of the operated arterial segment.

Facet Joint Fixation and Anterior, Direct Lateral, and Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusions for Treatment of Degenerative Lumbar Disc Diseases: Retrospective Cohort Study of a New Minimally Invasive Technique.

The aim of the study was a comparative analysis of the clinical and radiographic effectiveness of the use of interbody fusion and open pedicle screw stabilization of simultaneous and new minimally invasive techniques facet fixation system «Facet Wedge» in the treatment of degenerative diseases of the lumbar spine in elderly patients. The study included 39 elderly patients (older than 60), which carries out the transforaminal interbody fusion Cage «T-pal»: open transpedicaular stabilization was used in 1st group (n=23), ipsilateral open transpedicular stabilization with contralateral transfaset installing titanium Cage «facet Wedge» -in 2nd group (n=16). We used intraoperative interventions and specific post-operative patient management, clinical data and radiographic outcomes for a comparative analysis of the parameters.

Long-term safety and efficacy of acotiamide in functional dyspepsia (postprandial distress syndrome)-results from the European phase 3 open-label safety trial.

Backgrounds: Acotiamide is a novel acetylcholinesterase inhibitor for treatment of postprandial distress syndrome (PDS) symptoms of functional dyspepsia (FD). This European phase 3 open-label safety trial has been conducted to evaluate the long-term safety of acotiamide and explore the efficacy of acotiamide on PDS symptoms using the validated LPDS, quality of life using SF-36 and SF-NDI, and work productivity using WPAI.

Methods: FD-PDS patients (defined by ROME III criteria) aged ≥18 years with active PDS symptoms and without predominant overlapping symptoms of epigastric pain syndrome and related disorders were enrolled to receive 100 mg acotiamide three times daily for 1 year.

Material And Methods: Thirty-three patients with IS and 31 patients with HS were examined in the first 24 hours after an acute cerebrovascular accident (ACA). The diagnosis of ASA was confirmed by neuroimaging methods: computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.

Complex Analysis of Diffusion Transport and Microstructure of an Intervertebral Disk.

We studied the relationship between diffusion transport and morphological and microstructural organization of extracellular matrix of human intervertebral disk. Specimens of the lumbar intervertebral disks without abnormalities were studied ex vivo by diffusion-weighed magnetic resonance imaging, histological and immunohistochemical methods, and electron microscopy. Distribution of the diffusion coefficient in various compartments of the intervertebral disk was studied.

The objective of the present study was the comprehensive analysis of the postmortem changes in the lumbar intervertebral disks within different periods after death. A total of seven vertebromotor segments were distinguished in the lumbosacral region of the vertebral column based on the examination of 7 corpses. All these segments were divided into three groups in accordance with the prescription of death coming as follows: up to 12 hours (group 1), between 12 and 24 hours (group 2), and between 24 and 36 hours (group 3) after death.

Preoperative estimation of disc herniation recurrence after microdiscectomy: predictive value of a multivariate model based on radiographic parameters.

Background Context: Recurrence of lumbar disc herniation (rLDH) is one of the unfavorable outcomes after microdiscectomy. Prediction of the patient population with increased risk of rLDH is important because patients may benefit from preventive measures or other surgical options.

Purpose: The study assessed preoperative factors associated with rLDH after microdiscectomy and created a mathematical model for estimation of chances for rLDH.

Clinical acceptability study of micronized purified flavonoid fraction 1000 mg tablets versus 500 mg tablets in patients suffering acute hemorrhoidal disease.

Objective: To compare the clinical acceptability of micronized purified flavonoid fraction (MPFF) 1000 mg with MPFF 500 mg tablets, administered at the same daily dose in patients suffering non-complicated acute hemorrhoids.

Subjects And Methods: 52 patients (16 men and 36 women) aged 26 to 59 years were examined over 4 months to rule out organic disease. The diagnosis of IBS was established on the basis of the Rome III diagnostic criteria (2006).

New simulation technologies in neurosurgery.

The article presents a literature review on the current state of simulation technologies in neurosurgery, a brief description of the basic technology and the classification of simulation models, and examples of simulation models and skills simulators used in neurosurgery. Basic models for the development of physical skills, the spectrum of available computer virtual simulators, and their main characteristics are described. It would be instructive to include microneurosurgical training and a cadaver course of neurosurgical approaches in neurosurgery training programs and to extend the use of three-dimensional imaging.

New Software for Preoperative Diagnostics of Meningeal Tumor Histologic Types.

Objective: Meningeal tumors are neoplasms with different histologic manifestations of both benign and malignant types that determine the prognosis of tumor recurrence and its consistency. The risk of surgical treatment depends on the location, size, and consistency of the tumor. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences can be used to identify the features of tumors, but these MRI characteristics are not well understood.

Prospective Comparison of Microsurgical, Tubular-Based Endoscopic, and Endoscopically Assisted Diskectomies: Clinical Effectiveness and Complications in Railway Workers.

Objective: Although endoscopic diskectomy is superior to microsurgical diskectomy in terms of incision size, postoperative pain, and cosmetic appeal, the effectiveness and indications for endoscopic versus microsurgical diskectomy remain active discussion topics. Because of the increasing incidence of diskectomies being performed in Russia, further assessment of these techniques is needed. We performed a comparative analysis of 1-year clinical results and complications of microsurgical, tubular-based interlaminar endoscopic, and endoscopically assisted microsurgical diskectomies for patients with herniated lumbar disks.
