The aim of this retrospective study was to compare corneal parameters and compliance using a Pentacam HR-Scheimpflug (Pentacam HR) and a swept-source OCT Casia (Casia) in keratoconus (KC) patients post penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) and KC patients without PKP, as well as a control group. Pachymetry measurements were also analyzed using a spectral domain OCT Solix (OCT Solix), Pentacam HR, and Casia. The study included 71 patients (136 keratoconic eyes; group A), 86 eyes with KC post-PKP (group B), 50 eyes with KC without PKP (group C), and 52 control participants (104 eyes).

Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is a slowly progressive, chronic autoimmune inflammatory condition characterized by the affliction of the exocrine glands, with issues that derive from it markedly decreasing the quality of life of these patients. Salivary gland involvement can be identified through imaging methods. Among them, salivary gland ultrasonography (SGUS) is used as a diagnostic and prognostic tool in pSS.

Cutaneous malignant melanoma (MM) is the most aggressive form of skin cancer, associated with high mortality and rising incidence rates in Europe despite prevention efforts. Nodular MM, the most aggressive subtype, often mimics other skin tumors, complicating diagnosis. We present the case of a 66-year-old woman with a large, ulcerated tumor beneath the left scapula, along with multiple nodular lesions on the left arm and chest.

Background: Full-endoscopic microvascular decompression (fE-MVD) is an emerging treatment option for trigeminal neuralgia (TN). However, the risk factors associated with postoperative recurrence of TN after fE-MVD procedure remain controversial. The aim of the present study was to summarize the surgical technique of fE-MVD for the treatment of TN and to develop a predictive model for recurrence at 1 year postoperatively based on independent risk factors.

Home blood pressure (HBP) monitoring is a better prognostic predictor than clinical BP monitoring. However, the suggested number of HBP measurements in each occasion varies across guidelines. The study aimed to identify which HBP measurements in each occasion are more closely associated with new cardiovascular events in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Preventing subsequent fractures after vertebral augmentation is a critical clinical concern. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of romosozumab and bisphosphonate administration on the occurrence of subsequent vertebral fractures after balloon kyphoplasty (BKP) and to identify factors associated with the occurrence of subsequent vertebral fractures. The study compared 24 patients who underwent BKP and received romosozumab with 58 control patients who underwent BKP and received bisphosphonates, all within 2 months of acute osteoporotic vertebral fracture and showing unfavorable magnetic resonance imaging prognostic factors.

Background: Ulnar shortening osteotomy (USO) is a well-established surgical technique for ulnar impaction syndrome and triangular fibrocartilage complex injuries, but complications like delayed union and nonunion are often encountered. Transverse and oblique osteotomy techniques are commonly used, yet direct comparisons using advanced implants are limited. This study aims to compare the clinical and radiological outcomes of USO using the Jplate with a transverse osteotomy device and the APTUS Wrist Ulna Shortening System 2.

The human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1), a retrovirus, integrates into host DNA and causes adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) in some individuals. Two types of defective proviruses, Type 1 and Type 2, are often observed in ATL cells. Here, we developed a 3-plex digital PCR (dPCR) method to detect HTLV-1 proviral deletions by comparing the ratios of copy numbers quantified using specific primer-probes for the LTR, pol, and pX regions.

Aniridia is a rare panocular, bilateral, and congenital disease characterized by complete or partial iris hypoplasia and foveal hypoplasia, leading to decreased visual acuity and nystagmus. AAK, also referred to as aniridic keratopathy, manifests as corneal surface damage, epithelial thinning or loss, inflammation with immune cell infiltration, vascularization, and chronic progressive opacification. Twenty-one eyes in eighteen patients with aniridia underwent the triple procedure for visual rehabilitation.
