Structural variations such as copy number variants (CNVs) have been associated with multiple autoimmune diseases. In this study, we explored the association of the Fc gamma receptor 3B gene () copy number variation (CNV) with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) susceptibility and related serological traits in the Pakistani population. We also performed a meta-analysis of four published CNV studies along with the current study.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder of complex disease etiology. Currently available serological diagnostic markers lack in terms of sensitivity and specificity and thus additional biomarkers are warranted for early disease diagnosis and management. We aimed to screen and compare serum proteome profiles of rheumatoid arthritis serotypes with healthy controls in the Pakistani population for identification of potential disease biomarkers.

Introduction: Multifunctional pro-inflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) has been implicated in a variety of inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis (RA). TNF-α polymorphisms are mostly located in its promoter region and play a significant role in disease susceptibility and severity. We therefore sought to investigate TNFA -863C/A (rs1800630) polymorphism association with RA activity in our Pakistani study group.

To estimate the most prevalent age of patients and disease status and progression in terms of severity at different age groups in the Pakistani Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) patients. A total of five hundred (500) RA patients were enrolled during October, 2009 to October, 2013. A screening questionnaire was filled for each patient satisfying America College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria under the supervision of certified rheumatologists.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common systemic autoimmune disease, influenced greatly by the pro-inflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor- alpha (TNF-α). Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in regulatory regions of the TNF-α gene play a significant role in disease development and pathogenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of TNF-α -857C/T (rs1799724) SNP with RA activity or severity in our Pakistani study group.
