Acute heart failure (AHF) is the most frequent cause of unplanned hospital admission in patients of >65 years of age and it is associated with significantly increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Different AHF classification criteria have been proposed, mainly reflecting the clinical heterogeneity of the syndrome. Regardless of the underlying mechanism, peripheral and/or pulmonary congestion is present in the vast majority of cases.

Introduction: Facial aesthetics results from the harmony of various components of the craniofacial region, a structure whose physiognomy and topography are determined by a set of hard and soft tissues. Few works in the literature have investigated the relationship between the variables of sex, age, BMI and soft tissue thickness and have considered how these variables may influence operative outcomes. The purpose of this study is to increase the pre-operative knowledge of the thickness of the soft tissues of the face through an analysis of their measurement conducted on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to investigate the impact that the variables of gender, age and BMI have on their determination.

De Quervain's tenosynovitis involves the first of the six dorsal compartments of the wrist, which contains the abductor pollicis longus (APL) and extensor pollicis brevis (EPB) tendons. It seems to be associated with female sex (F:M = 10:1), middle age (30-50 years) and activities involving repetitive hand and wrist motions such as typing, piano playing or repetitively lifting children head, such as in postpartum females (hence the term "baby wrist" or "mommy wrist"). Aim of this paper was to illustrate high-resolution ultrasound (US) features of the DQD by describing a well-documented case that occurred in a "new dad" taking care of his babe.

Background: Despite paucity of data, it is common practice to discontinue metformin before invasive coronary angiography due to an alleged risk of Metformin-Associated Lactic Acidosis (M-ALA). We aimed at assessing the safety of metformin continuation in diabetic patients undergoing coronary angiography in terms of significant increase in lactate levels.
Methods: In this open-label, prospective, multicentre, single-arm trial, all diabetic patients undergoing coronary angiography with or without percutaneous coronary intervention at 3 European centers were screened for enrolment.

The standard surgical treatment of endometrial carcinoma, consisting of total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, drastically affects the quality of life of patients and creates a challenge for clinicians. Recent evidence-based guidelines of the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), and the European Society of Pathology (ESP) provide comprehensive information on all relevant issues of diagnosis and treatment in endometrial carcinoma in a multidisciplinary setting. While addressing also work-up for fertility preservation treatments and the management and follow-up for fertility preservation, it was considered relevant to further extend the guidance on fertility-sparing treatment.

The breast ultrasound (US) field-of-view (FOV) includes glandular parenchyma as well as tissues located anterior to and posterior to it, up to pleural line. For that, it is possible to incidentally identify lesions unrelated to breast parenchyma during screening or diagnostic US; sometimes a palpable lump may be the reason of the imaging exam. Furthermore, abnormality related to chest wall are easier and more accurate detected after mastectomy.

Bladder duplication is an extremely rare congenital anomaly of the urinary system that is more frequent in boys; the literature is limited to case reports and case series. We describe two cases of bladder duplication in two infant girls with an uncommon variant of complete sagittal septum not included in the Abrahamson classification. The diagnosis was made using magnetic resonance urography, combining excellent anatomical information and static and dynamic evaluation of the urinary tract.

Neutralizing monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) for pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are largely used to prevent the progression of the disease by blocking viral attachment, host cell entry, and infectivity. Sotrovimab, like other available mAbs, has been developed against the receptor binding Domain of the (S) glycoprotein of the virus. Nevertheless, the latest Omicron variant has shown marked mutations within the S gene, thus opening the question of the efficacy of these neutralizing molecules towards this novel variant.

Background/aim: Lung cancer is one of the most common malignant neoplastic diseases and by far the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Recently, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have received increasing attention for playing a crucial role in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Biomarkers, such as programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) and tumor mutational burden (TMB), seemed to be helpful in selecting patients who are more likely to benefit from ICI treatment: however, their role has not yet been fully clarified.

Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) refers to the spontaneous separation of the layers of the vessel wall caused by intramural hemorrhage, with or without an intimal tear. The "typical" SCAD patient is a middle-aged woman with few traditional cardiovascular risk factors, and it's frequently associated with pregnancy. Because of its low incidence, its pathophysiology is not fully understood.

Postoperative deserved outcomes in acromegalic patients are to normalize serum insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), reduce the tumoral mass effect, improve systemic comorbidities, and reverse metabolic alterations. Pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNET) are characterized to present a heterogeneous behavior, and growth hormone (GH)-secreting PitNET is not an exception. Promptly determining which patients are affected by more aggressive tumors is essential to guide the optimal postoperative decision-making process [prognostic-based approach].

In the field of computer science, known as artificial intelligence, algorithms imitate reasoning tasks that are typically performed by humans. The techniques that allow machines to learn and get better at tasks such as recognition and prediction, which form the basis of clinical practice, are referred to as machine learning, which is a subfield of artificial intelligence. The number of artificial intelligence-and machine learnings-related publications in clinical journals has grown exponentially, driven by recent developments in computation and the accessibility of simple tools.
