Background: Systemic alterations in the oral cavity can be reflected in skin disorders like psoriasis. However, data about oral health factors that are affected and controlled mainly by oral microbiota in atopic dermatitis (AD) are sparse. This study compared the oral status and oral microbiota of AD patients and healthy controls.

Introduction: Risankizumab has demonstrated superior efficacy compared to other psoriasis treatments, including secukinumab, adalimumab, and ustekinumab; switching to risankizumab from other psoriasis treatments has shown superior clinical and quality of life (QoL) outcomes. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of directly switching patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and a suboptimal response to interleukin (IL)-17 inhibitors (secukinumab or ixekizumab) to risankizumab.
Methods: This 52-week, phase 3b study enrolled patients (≥ 18 years) with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis who had previously been treated with the recommended dose of secukinumab or ixekizumab for ≥ 6 months but did not achieve an optimal response (static Physician's Global Assessment [sPGA] 2/3; body surface are [BSA] 3- < 10%).

Cobalt toxicity is difficult to detect and therefore often underdiagnosed. The aim of this study was to explore the pathophysiology of cobalt-induced oxidative stress in the brain and its impact on structure and function. Thirty-five wild-type C57B16 mice received intraperitoneal cobalt chloride injections: a single high dose with evaluations at 24, 48, and 72 h ( = 5, each) or daily low doses for 28 ( = 5) or 56 days ( = 15).

Purpose Of Review: This review provides an overview of the recent publications on kidney-sparing-surgery (KSS) for upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC), an alternative to radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) for an increasing number of indications.
Recent Findings: Recent studies highlight comparable survival outcomes between KSS [ureterorenoscopy with tumour ablation (URS) or segmental ureteral resection (SUR)] and RNU, even in high-risk UTUC patients. KSS has shown to preserve renal function without significantly compromising oncologic control in appropriately selected patients.

Primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) is a chronic disease characterized by progressive optic nerve damage and irreversible loss of vision, often diagnosed at late stages. Elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) is the major risk factor for its onset and progression while older age, myopia, genetic factors, blood pressure (BP), and reduced ocular blood flow (OBF) have also been linked to the disease. Different forms of exercise are known to have significant, but variable, effects on IOP, BP, ocular perfusion pressure (OPP), OBF and oxygen metabolism, and ultimately the risk for development and progression of POAG.

Objective: Blood-brain barrier dysfunction (BBBD) has been linked to various neurological disorders, including epilepsy. This study aims to utilize dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) to identify and compare brain regions with BBBD in patients with epilepsy (PWE) and healthy individuals.
Methods: We scanned 50 drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) patients and 58 control participants from four global specialized epilepsy centers using DCE-MRI.

Background And Aims: Long QT syndrome (LQTS) and coronary artery disease (CAD) are both associated with increased risk of ventricular tachyarrhythmia However, there are limited data on the incremental risk conferred by CAD in adult patients with congenital LQTS. We aimed to investigate the risk associated with CAD and life threatening events (LTEs) in patients with LQTS after age 40 years.
Methods: The risk of LTEs (comprising aborted cardiac arrest, sudden cardiac death, or appropriate defibrillator shock) from age 40 through 75 years was examined in 1,020 subjects from the Rochester LQTS registry, categorized to CAD ( = 137) or no-CAD ( = 883) subgroups.

Impaired pulmonary diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (DLCO) following COVID-19 has been consistently reported among individuals recovering from severe-critical infection. However, most long COVID cases follow non-severe COVID-19. We assessed DLCO among individuals with long COVID recovering from mild to moderate acute illness.

Purpose: Glaucoma incidence in patients with endogenous Cushing's syndrome (CS) has never been established. We aim to assess the risk for glaucoma among CS patients compared to controls and determine the age of disease onset.
Methods: A nationwide retrospective matched-cohort study of patients with endogenous CS diagnosed between 2000 and 2023.

Background: C3 Glomerulopathy (C3G) is a complement-mediated disease, with predominant C3 deposits, where pathogenic genetic variants in complement system components and circulating autoantibodies result in loss of control of the alternative pathway, have been described. A high incidence of disease recurrence including graft failure has been reported after kidney transplantation (KTx). Currently treatment modalities for preventing and treating post KTx C3G recurrence (plasma exchange, rituximab and eculizumab) in adults have yielded inconsistent results.

Purpose: Uric acid stones (UAS) can be treated non-invasively by oral chemolysis. However, it is crucial to identify individuals who are most likely to benefit from this approach, specifically, patients with pure UAS. The aim of this study was to develop a nomogram that can differentiate between pure and mixed UAS.

Background: An enhanced classification of primary mitral regurgitation (PMR) based on extramitral cardiac involvement may refine patient selection and optimize the timing of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER).
Aims: This study aimed to assess the prognostic significance of a recently established classification system that characterizes the extent of extramitral cardiac damage in patients undergoing TEER for PMR.
Methods: Consecutive PMR patients who received MitraClip implantation were categorized according to the presence of extramitral cardiac damage, determined through preprocedural echocardiography.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the accuracy of measuring fasting plasma glucose (FPG) within 24-48 h postpartum in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) as a predictor for abnormal 6-12-week postpartum oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT).
Study Design: A retrospective cohort study (2012-2021) included women with GDM and singleton pregnancies who had FPG levels recorded 24-28 h postpartum and underwent a 6-12-week OGTT. The study compared the predictive accuracy of these FPG readings with the OGTT results.

Introduction: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has emerged as a common and effective treatment for patients with severe aortic stenosis. Changes in systemic blood pressure after TAVI have been described, yet their prognostic value is not established. Thus, we aimed to examine the association of the periprocedural changes in systolic blood pressure (SBP) and in pulse pressure on clinical outcomes after the procedure.

Purpose: Given prolactin's (PRL) multifaceted roles in mammary tissue, an association between hyperprolactinemia and breast cancer has been hypothesized. Despite previous studies not identifying this risk, we aimed to investigate whether a connection exists.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study compared breast cancer incidence in patients with dopamine agonist (DA)-treated hyperprolactinemia versus matched controls in a 1:5 ratio.

Methods: A retrospective review of 277 OSCC patients surgically treated in a tertiary care center from 2000 to 2020, with a minimum 2-year follow-up.
