Background: Patellar instability is a common and disabling clinical condition. Treatment of acute primary patellar dislocation aims to reduce the risk of recurrence or painful subluxation and improve function. However, the actual clinical efficacy of any management modality following an acute dislocation has never been demonstrated in prospective or retrospective studies, and the optimal way in which the various management modalities should be used is at best unclear.

The pharmacological management of nonspecific chronic low back pain (NCLBP) aims to restore patients' daily activities and improve their quality of life. The management of NCLBP is not well codified and extremely heterogeneous, and residual symptoms are common. Experimental bile duct ligation (BDL) in rodents causes cholestatic liver injury characterized by structural and functional alterations that include periportal biliary fibrosis. These changes are time-dependent and based on excess accumulation of bile acids in the liver. This in turn causes damage of hepatocytes and functional loss, leading to recruitment of inflammatory cells.

During the development of liver fibrosis, hepatic stellate cells undergo a transition from a quiescent phenotype into a proliferative, fibrogenic, and contractile, α-smooth muscle actin-positive myofibroblast. This should help to clarify whether the osteotomy starting point must exactly match the preoperative planning.

Introduction: The association between obesity and outcome in critical illness is unclear. Since the amount of visceral adipose tissue(VAT) rather than BMI mediates the health effects of obesity we aimed to investigate the association between visceral obesity, BMI and 90-day mortality in critically ill patients.
Method: In 555 critically ill patients (68% male), the VAT Index(VATI) was measured using Computed Tomography scans on the level of vertebra L3.

Perilipin 5 (PLIN5) is a lipid droplet coat protein that is highly expressed in oxidative tissues such as those of muscles, the heart and the liver. PLIN5 expression is regulated by a family of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) and modulated by the cellular lipid status. So far, research has focused on the role of PLIN5 in the context of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and specifically in lipid droplet formation and lipolysis, where PLIN5 serves as a regulator of lipid metabolism.

The present systematic review investigated the concentration of chromium (Cr) and cobalt (Co) in serum in patients who have undergone total hip arthroplasty (THA). The first outcome of interest was to investigate the mean concentration in serum of Cr and Co using different material combinations and to verify whether their concentrations change significantly using different patterns of head and liner in THA. The second outcome of interest was to investigate whether the time elapsed from the index surgery to the follow-up, BMI, sex, and side exert an influence on the mean concentration of Cr and Co in serum in patients who have undergone THA.

Bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB), two- and four-strand hamstring tendon (4SHT and 2SHT, respectively) are the most common autografts used for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. The present study compared BPTB, 2SHT, and 4SHT for ACL reconstruction in terms of joint laxity, patient reported outcome measures (PROMs), rate of failure and anterior knee pain (AKP). The time to return to sport and the peak torque between the autografts were also compared.
