Interventional Physiatry in the Complex Regional Pain Syndrome of the Upper Limb Following Herpes Zoster.

A 44-year-old male patient experienced persistent radiating pain from the elbow to the hand following herpes zoster vesicular eruptions three months earlier. His examination met the Budapest Clinical Criteria for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), revealing sensory, motor, vasomotor, and sudomotor signs and symptoms. Despite conservative treatments, the pain persisted.

Metastasis to the skull base involving the sphenoid and cavernous sinus in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary malignancy of the liver, among which around 18-64% metastasize, most frequently to lungs, regional lymph nodes and adrenal glands. Metastasis of HCC to the central nervous system represents a rare yet clinically significant phenomenon, often presenting diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. In this case report, we document a 35-year-old male who presented with a secondary headache and right ophthalmoplegia attributable to metastatic deposits secondary to HCC infiltrating the cavernous sinus and superior orbital fissure.

Introduction: Sexual dysfunction affects a couple's relationship and quality of life of the patient and the partner irrespective of age. In Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), sexual dysfunction is highly prevalent. This study aims to evaluate prevalence of sexual dysfunction in patients having LUTS with BPH and effect of various treatment on it.

A case report of anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis in a 23-year-old female with acute psychiatric symptoms.

Key Clinical Message: Prompt identification and management of anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis in young patients with acute psychiatric symptoms, seizures, and neurological deficits are crucial. Timely immunomodulatory therapy is essential for positive outcomes and minimizing long-term complications. High suspicion for this rare disorder is necessary for timely diagnosis and optimal care.

Multiple cutaneous and uterine leiomyomatosis: Reed's syndrome.

Reed's syndrome (RS) is a rare autosomal-dominant disorder characterised by multiple cutaneous and uterine leiomyomas, with a strong tendency for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) development. A woman in her 50s, who had previously undergone total abdominal hysterectomy due to multiple uterine leiomyomas, presented with painful nodules on her trunk and right arm for the past 6 years. These nodules were confirmed as leiomyomas through histopathology.

Spectrum of Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders in Hospitalized Children: Multicentric Data From Kolkata.

Objective: To evaluate the incidence and types of primary immunodeficiency diseases (PIDs) in hospitalized children with infection.

Methods: This prospective study was conducted in five tertiary-care facilities in Kolkata over two consecutive years between November 1, 2018 and October 31, 2020. We included all children aged upto 12years who were hospitalized and screened them for PID.

Aseptic meningitis following spinal anaesthesia: An uncommon and challenging diagnosis.

Drug-induced aseptic meningitis (DIAM) or chemical meningitis following spinal anaesthesia has rarely been reported. DIAM is caused by meningeal inflammation due to intrathecally administered drugs or secondary to systemic immunological hypersensitivity. We hereby present a case of a young adult with aseptic meningitis following neuraxial anaesthesia possibly provoked by bupivacaine.

Rational quality and cost of critical care systems are more important than individual considerations: a view from India.

Critical or Intensive Care Units (CCU/ICUs) play a crucial role in treating critically ill patients, but they contribute significantly to healthcare costs. In India and many other resource-limited countries, private ICU treatment is largely unaffordable for the poor and even a section of the middle class, who are not substantially insured. It is essential for all stakeholders involved in critical care to prioritize quality and cost-effectiveness.

A Comparative Prospective Study Between Conventional Chemo-Radiotherapy and Pure Accelerated Radiotherapy With Concurrent Chemotherapy for the Treatment of Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancer.

Background: The established standard treatment for locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma is concurrent chemoradiotherapy, but the optimum radiotherapy schedule for best disease control and acceptable toxicity is still evolving. Tumor control probability decreases with each day's prolongation of treatment time. Shortening the overall treatment time of radiation by pure accelerated radiotherapy may be a good option.

Mortality indicators with clinical profile of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children during SARS-CoV-2 second wave in India: A tertiary referral center experience.
