Background: In patients with unremarkable medical history, comprehensive preoperative hemostasis screening in elective neurosurgery remains debated. Comprehensive medical history has shown to be noninferior to coagulation profile to evaluate surgical outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the predictiveness of preoperative coagulation screening and medical history for surgical outcomes.

Introduction Bipolar disorder is a chronic and recurring condition marked by fluctuations in both energy and mood that can be debilitating to individuals without treatment. A Detailed Clinical Approach to Non-dystrophic Myotonia: A Case Report of Two Brothers With Myotonia Congenita.

Non-dystrophic myotonia (NDM) is a group of rare mono-genetic muscle disorders caused by skeletal muscle sodium or chloride channelopathies. These disorders are characterized by high muscle tone and the inability of the muscles to relax spontaneously after voluntary contraction. Myotonia congenita refers to a form of NDM that typically manifests during the later stages of childhood.

These lesions are characterised by high vascular flow with risk of severe bleeding from accidental trauma or surgical manipulation. Although infrequent, potentially life-threatening and fatal oral bleeding has been reported during extraction of tooth associated with AVM.

Role of Invasive Mechanical Ventilation and ECMO in the Management of COVID-19: A Systematic Review.

Objectives: This systematic review aims to provide insight into the outcome of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and invasive mechanical ventilation use in critically ill COVID-19 patients.

Data Sources: Electronic databases PubMed Central and PubMed were searched from January 2020 to June 2020 for published studies about ECMO and/or invasive mechanical ventilation use in COVID-19 patients. Data Extraction and Study Selection: The search strategy retrieved 766 articles, of which 19 studies consisting of 204 patients fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis.

Background: Increasing smartphone use has led to the introduction of smartphone addiction as a behavioral addiction with detrimental effects on health. This phenomenon has not been widely studied in the Indian context. This study assessed the rate of smartphone addiction in a sample of medical students, with a focus on its correlation with sleep quality and stress levels.

Awareness of needle-stick injuries among health-care workers in a tertiary health-care center.

Context: Needle-stick injuries (NSIs) pose a great occupational risk of blood-borne disease transmission in health-care workers (HCWs). Diseases of primary significance include hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and human immunodeficiency virus infection.

Aims: This study aimed to check the awareness regarding the health hazards associated with NSIs and awareness regarding postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) and hepatitis B vaccination in HCWs.

Role of Immunofluorescence in Adult Onset Nephrotic Syndrome-A Study in a Tertiary Care Centre of Western India.

Introduction: Study of renal Immunofluorescence (IF) is an ancillary but essential technique in evaluation of renal biopsies in glomerulopathies and also it enlightens on the pathogenesis of nephrotic syndrome.

Aim: To determine the role of IF in evaluating definite subtyping and diagnosis of adult onset nephrotic syndrome and attempting clinicopathological correlation.

Materials And Methods: A total of 52 patients of adult onset nephrotic syndrome were evaluated clinically and with pertinent investigations; and subjected to USG guided percutaneous renal biopsy which was processed and stained for light microscopy and for immunofluorescence by direct method (DIF) using antibodies against IgG, IgM, IgA and C3.

A rare case of lung cancer presenting as an ischioanal fossa mass.

Lung cancer metastasis commonly involves the adrenal glands, liver, bone, and brain. However, it can have some rarer forms of metastatic presentation making diagnosis difficult, especially in nonsmokers. We describe a rare case of lung cancer with metastasis to the ischioanal fossa.

Extensive molluscum contagiosum causing obstruction of vision in HIV positive woman.

We report a case of a person living with HIV-AIDS who presented with extensive molluscum contagiosum (MC) in the periorbital location. MC lesions aggregated as large masses over the right upper and lower eyelids, obstructing vision of the right eye.

Retrospective analysis of patients with carcinoma cervix in a rural/semi-urban setting in Western India.

Objectives: To compare the presentation of cervical cancer and the treatment modalities received by the patients at a semi-urban/rural area of Western India with that of published literature from urban centers.

Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients with cervical cancer who presented at a semi-urban/rural cancer center between 2010 and 2013. A total of 141 patients with the median age of 51 years (25-81) were studied.

Household symptomatic contact screening of newly diagnosed sputum smears positive tuberculosis patients - An effective case detection tool.

Objectives: Primary objective was to assess the prevalence of tuberculosis (TB) among household contacts of newly diagnosed sputum smear (SS) positive TB index cases. Secondary objectives were the evaluation of risk factors in household contacts for acquiring TB disease; and the evaluation of various characteristics of index cases which influence the transmission of disease to household contacts.

Settings And Design: This exploratory cohort study included 521 household contacts of 133 newly diagnosed SS positive TB patients who were registered under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program at the Directly Observed Treatment-Short Course Centres of District Tuberculosis Centre, Kolhapur, Maharashtra from July 1, 2013 to February 28, 2014 (8 months).

Comparison of clinical efficacy of methylprednisolone and serratiopeptidase for reduction of postoperative sequelae after lower third molar surgery.

Background: Surgical removal of mandibular third molars results in some degree of post-operative pain, swelling and trismus. These can be controlled by proper administration of local anesthesia, careful bone removal, minimal trauma to adjacent soft tissues and administration of methylprednisolone and serratiopeptidase drugs. The aim of the present study was to compare the efficacy of methylprednisolone and serratiopeptidase in controlling post-operative pain, swelling and trismus after surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars.

Right ventricular thrombus with pulmonary artery aneurysm in a young male: A rare presentation of Behçet's disease.

We describe an adolescent patient presenting with hemoptysis. Detailed clinical work up of the patient showed right ventricular thrombus and bilateral pulmonary artery aneurysms along with the prescribed criteria for the diagnosis of Behcet's disease. Younger age of the patient was another distinctive feature of this case.

Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma of posterior maxilla: report of a case with brief literature review.

Mesenchymal chondrosarcomas (MCs) are infrequent, slow-growing malignant tumors of head and neck region affecting both bone and soft tissues. It represents approximately 1% of all chondrosarcomas. They usually occur in the middle aged individuals, but rarely seen in young patients.

Cutaneous lymphangiosarcoma following chronic lymphedema of filarial origin.

We are reporting a case of 36 yr old female with chronic filarial lymphedema of both legs. Subsequently she developed lymphangiosarcoma of her left leg which was confirmed histologically and on immunohistochemistry. Only three more cases of lymphagiosarcoma occurring in patients with filarial lymphedema are reviewed from available literature.

Disseminated cutaneous phaeohyphomycosis in immunocompetent child.

We present a 6-year-old immunocompetent child with disseminated cutaneous phaeohyphomycosis, affecting his face, arms, thighs, and chest. He was treated with oral itraconazole 100 mg once a day for 5 months and surgical excision of the residual lesions. Disseminated phaeohyphomycosis is very infrequent in immunocompetent children.
