Purpose: The objective of this study was to compare the effects of an in-clinic cervicovestibular rehabilitation program (education, home exercises, manual techniques, sub-symptom threshold aerobic exercise [STAE] program) to a similar program (education, home-exercises, STAE program), but without manual techniques, provided in a telerehabilitation format in adults with persisting post-concussion symptoms (PCS).

Materials And Methods Design: In this parallel-group non-randomized clinical trial, 41 adults with persisting PCS were allocated to the in-clinic ( = 30) or telerehabilitation ( = 11) program. The outcome measures, which included the Post-Concussion Symptom Scale (PCSS; primary outcome), Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) for neck pain and headache and three disability questionnaires, were collected at baseline, weeks 6, 12, and 26.

Background: The Post-Concussion Symptom Scale (PCSS) is used to assess the number and intensity of symptoms after a concussion/mild traumatic brain injury. However, its responsiveness to monitor clinical recovery has yet to be determined.

The objective of this study was to compare the effects of a cervicovestibular rehabilitation program combined with symptom-limited aerobic exercise (SLAE) program to a SLAE program alone in adults with persistent symptoms after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) on severity of symptoms and other indicators of clinical recovery. In this single-blind, parallel-group randomized controlled trial, 60 adults with persistent symptoms after mTBI were randomly assigned to: (1) a 6-week SLAE program or (2) a 6-week cervicovestibular rehabilitation program combined with a SLAE program. Objective: To design and evaluate a low-cost gaming station that supports force resistance training in pediatric arm/hand grasp therapies through mainstream videogame play.

Methods: The gaming station was developed through an iterative participatory design process and includes a force feedback game controller (Novint Falcon), custom grips, arm/wrist supports, and software to interface with mainstream games and manage difficulty settings in the controller. The station was tested for usability and feasibility with six therapists and six children with cerebral palsy, 7-16 years of age, attending weekly therapy sessions over 12 weeks.

Hypothesis And Background: The Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire and the Western Ontario Rotator Cuff (WORC) index are 2 widely used patient-reported questionnaires in individuals with rotator cuff (RC) tendinopathy. In contrast to the WORC index, for which the items are specific to the affected shoulder, the items of the DASH questionnaire assess the ability to perform activities regardless of the arm used. The objective of this study is to determine whether scores on the DASH questionnaire and WORC index are affected if the symptoms are on the dominant or nondominant side in individuals with RC tendinopathy.

Modeling spatial navigation in the presence of dynamic obstacles: a differential games approach.

Obstacle circumvention strategies can be shaped by the dynamic interaction of an individual (evader) and an obstacle (pursuer). We have developed a mathematical model with predictive and emergent components, using experimental data from seven healthy young adults walking toward a target while avoiding collision with a stationary or moving obstacle (approaching head-on, or diagonally 30° left or right) in a virtual environment. Two linear properties from the predictive component enable the evader to predict the minimum distance between itself and the obstacle at all times, including the future intersection of trajectories.

Background: While minimalist running shoes may have an influence on running biomechanics and on the incidence of overuse injuries, the term "minimalist" is currently used without standardisation. The objectives of this study were to reach a consensus on a standard definition of minimalist running shoes, and to develop and validate a rating scale that could be used to determine the degree of minimalism of running shoes, the Minimalist Index (MI).

Methods: For this modified Delphi study, 42 experts from 11 countries completed four electronic questionnaires on an optimal definition of minimalist shoes and on elements to include within the MI.

This longitudinal preliminary study aims to describe the components and features of the eChez-Soi home-based telerehabilitation platform, and present preliminary results on practitioners' readiness for and perception of its usability. Four patients receiving chemotherapy treatments for lung cancer followed an 8-week home-based telerehabilitation program with the new eChez-Soi platform and four healthy adults used it for 2 weeks. The users' perception was very good, with an overall satisfaction rate of 4.

Background: The assessment of muscle function is a cornerstone in the management of subjects who have sustained a lateral ankle sprain. The ankle range of motion being relatively small, the use of preloading allows to measure maximal strength throughout the whole amplitude and therefore to better characterize ankle muscles weaknesses. Ambulatory children and youth with cerebral palsy have limitations in locomotor capacities and in community mobility. The ability of three locomotor tests to predict community mobility in this population (N = 49, 27 boys, 6-16 years old) was examined. The tests were a level ground walking test, the 6-min-Walk-Test (6MWT), and two tests of advanced locomotor capacities, the 10-meter-Shuttle-Run-Test (10mSRT) and the Timed-Up-and-Down-Stairs-Test (TUDS).

This study aimed to quantify relationships between lower limb muscle strength and locomotor capacity for children and adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP) to identify key muscle groups for strength training. Obstacle clearance can be a hazardous locomotor task if not coordinated with the utmost accuracy. The current study explored changes in leading limb segment coordination during obstacle clearance in a population with cerebellar ataxia using the planar law of intersegmental coordination. Eight participants with ARCA-1, caused by mutations in the SYNE-1 gene, and eight healthy adults stepped over obstacles.
