This work presents a comparative study on the structural, optical and electrochemical characteristics of visible light driven (VLD) reduced titanium dioxide (TiO ) nanocatalysts synthesized inorganic and organic synthetic routes. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, Raman spectra and X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) analyses reflected anatase phase titania. Whereas, the quantitative EXAFS fit and XANES analysis revealed structural distortion due to the presence of oxygen and titanium vacancies with low valent Ti states in anatase lattices of certain nanocatalysts, which subsequently leads to better electrochemical and photocatalytic activities.

Owing to the high cost of recycling waste, underdeveloped countries discharge industrial, agricultural, and anthropogenic effluents without pretreatment. As a result, pollutant-loaded waste enters water bodies. Among the diverse toxic contaminants, heavy metal ions are the most detrimental because of their chronic toxicity, non-degradability, prevalence, and bioaccumulation.

Halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) were surface functionalized using four distinct chemical moieties (amidoxime, hydrazone, ethylenediamine (EDA), and diethylenetriamine (DETA)), producing modified HNTs (H1-H4) capable of binding with Cr(vi) ions. Advanced techniques like FTIR, XRD, SEM, and EDX provided evidence of the successful functionalization of these HNTs. Notably, the functionalization occurred on the surface of HNTs, rather than within the interlayer or lumen.

The conversion of CO into CO as a substitute for processing fossil fuels to produce hydrocarbons is a sustainable, carbon neutral energy technology. However, the electrochemical reduction of CO into a synthesis gas (CO and H) at a commercial scale requires an efficient electrocatalyst. In this perspective, a series of six new palladium complexes with the general formula [Pd(L)(Y)]Y, where L is a donor-flexible PYA, ,-bis(1-ethylpyridin-4(1)-ylidene)pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide, ,-bis(1-butylpyridin-4(1)-ylidene)pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide, or ,-bis(1-benzylpyridin-4(1)-ylidene)pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide, and Y = OAc or Cl, were utilized as active electrocatalysts for the conversion of CO into a synthesis gas.
