Introduction: Reductions in global tuberculosis incidence are considered as one of the End TB Strategy goal. The diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) in children is challenging due to insufficient specimen material and the scarcity of bacilli in specimens. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence, characteristics, clinical profiles, laboratory findings and treatment outcomes of children infected with TB in an Iranian referral hospital during a 10-years period.

This study aims to evaluate the prevalence of COVID-19 in RPs compared to the general population and to relatively assess the potential role of RPs' treatment regimen against COVID-19. In a cross-sectional study, all RPs with an updated medical record between December 1, 2019, and February 29, 2020, at the rheumatology clinic of Shahid Beheshti Hospital, Qom, Iran were included (as the case group), and the prevalence of COVID-19 was compared to the paired control group-individuals without RDs, randomly selected from the Qom Health Network's database.

Background: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a highly prevalent infection among children and Escherichia coli is one of the most important pathogens causing pediatric UTIs. Production of extended spectrum b-lactamase (ESBL) enzymes is an important factor in the emergence of antibiotic resistance among these bacteria. This study aimed to determine the resistance patterns, the frequency of ESBL-encoding genes and the genetic diversity of E.

Introduction: Resistance to azole antifungals is considered as a significant problem in Candida albicans infections. Several molecular mechanisms of fluconazole resistance including alterations in the gene encoding the target enzyme ERG11 or overexpression of efflux pump genes including CDR1, CDR2, MDR1, MDR2 and FLU1 have been reported. The aim of this study was to investigate overexpression of efflux pump genes including CDR1, CDR2, MDR1, MDR2 and FLU1 in fluconazole- resistant C.

Segmentation of the arterial wall boundaries from intravascular ultrasound images is an important image processing task in order to quantify arterial wall characteristics such as shape, area, thickness and eccentricity. Since manual segmentation of these boundaries is a laborious and time consuming procedure, many researchers attempted to develop (semi-) automatic segmentation techniques as a powerful tool for educational and clinical purposes in the past but as yet there is no any clinically approved method in the market. This paper presents a deterministic-statistical strategy for automatic media-adventitia border detection by a fourfold algorithm.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the formation of amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques in the brain. Dysfunctional excitatory synaptic transmission and neuronal plasticity are generally accepted as primary events in the development of AD. There is evidence to suggest that both COX-1 expression and COX-2 expression are changed in the brain of AD patients.
