Background: To address the health inequity caused by decentralized management, China has introduced a provincial pooling system for urban employees' basic medical insurance. This paper proposes a research framework to evaluate similar policies in different contexts. This paper adopts a mixed-methods approach to more comprehensively and precisely capture the causal effects of the policy.

Long Non-Coding RNA LINC01123 Facilitates Cholangiocarcinoma Aggravation by Targeting miR-641.

Background/aims: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignant and insidious tumor that is tricky to treat. Long non-coding RNA (LncRNA) LINC01123 is a biomolecule that influences cancer progression by regulating gene expression via influencing the regulatory function of microRNAs in gene expression. Therefore, this study investigated the connection between LINC01123 and CCA and explored the underlying mechanism.

Associations Between Frailty and Risk of All-Cause and Cardiovascular Mortality in Patients with Prediabetes: A Population-Based Study.

Objective: Diabetes is a well-known risk factor for frailty that has been associated with adverse prognosis. However, the association of frailty with all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality in patients with prediabetes has not been thoroughly explored.

Methods: Participants with prediabetes were derived from the 1999-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and followed up for all-cause and CVD mortality until December 31, 2019.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia in China: A Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice Study Among Medical Doctors Treating Patients with Insomnia.

Objectives: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is recommended as the first-line treatment for insomnia disorders, yet its clinical application rate ranges from 1% to 29%. This study evaluated medical doctors' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the use of CBT-I in treatingpatients with insomnia.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from May 8 to 26, 2021.

Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are major research factors in a variety of diseases, and lncRNA OIP5-AS1 (OIP5-AS1) was shown to mediate the progression of various tumors. This paper discusses how OIP5-AS1 could potentially be used for diagnosing and prognosticating cholangiocarcinoma (CHOL).

Methods: The ENROCI project evaluated the OIP5-AS1 expression in CHOL samples and confirmed it using RT-qPCR.

Gut microbiota changes are associated with abnormal metabolism activity in children and adolescents with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a chronic and disabling psychiatric disorder characterized by recurrent intrusive thoughts or repetitive behaviors. We sought to better understand the structure of gut microbiota in first visit registration, treatment-naive children and adolescents with OCD, and the relationship between gut microbiota and fecal metabolites. Thus we studied the gut microbial population using 16 S rRNA sequencing in 49 children (8-17 years of age) with OCD, 42 healthy controls (HCs).

Endometriosis (EMS) is a chronic inflammatory disease frequently associated with infertility. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation, the most common form of methylation in eukaryotic mRNAs, has gained attention in the study of female reproductive diseases, including EMS and infertility. This study aimed to investigate the role of m6A regulators in EMS-related infertility.

Suture techniques in the surgical management of flexor tendon, Achilles tendon and cruciate ligament injuries: a systematic review.

Objective: To provide clinicians with reliable recommendations for the selection of appropriate suturing techniques for surgical management of common musculoskeletal soft tissue injuries.

Methods: A systematic search of PubMed, Springer, Web Science, Vip Database, China National Knowledge, and Wanfang Data for in vitro biomechanical studies on suture techniques in the surgical treatment of musculoskeletal soft tissue injuries covering relevant studies from April 2009 to April 2024 was performed. A generalized classification was made based on the characteristics of the techniques, and recommendations for the selection of suture techniques were made according to the GRADE concept.

Application of Osborne's Ligament Suspension and Ulnar Nerve Anterior Transposition in Conjunction with Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation for Managing Cubital Tunnel Syndrome: A Retrospective Study.

Aim: To explore the effectiveness and safety of Osborne's ligament suspension and ulnar nerve anterior transposition (OLSUNAT) in conjunction with transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) for managing cubital tunnel syndrome (CTS).

Methods: A total of 116 individuals diagnosed with CTS who underwent OLSUNAT in our hospital between October 2020 and December 2023 were retrospectively selected. They were divided into a treatment group (62 cases) and a control group (54 cases) based on whether they received subsequent TENS.

The potential impact of inflammation on the lipid paradox in patients with acute myocardial infarction: a multicenter study.

Background: Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is a well-recognized risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. However, several clinical studies demonstrated an inverse association between LDL-C and mortality risk in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), known as the lipid paradox. This study aims to investigate the potential impact of inflammation on the association between LDL-C levels and mortality risks.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of the combination of microwave ablation (MWA) with immune checkpoints blockade and TLR9 stimulation in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using the C57BL/6 tumor-bearing mice model.

Materials And Methods: Tumor-bearing mice were treated with MWA, programmed cell death protein1 blockade (PD-1) plus MWA (MWA + P), TLR9 agonist CpG ODNs and MWA (MWA + C), PD-1 blockade and CpG ODNs (P + C), MWA plus PD-1 blockade and CpG ODNs (MWA + P + C), or untreated. Survival time was evaluated with the Kaplan-Meyer method comparing survival curves by log-rank test.

Preoperative assessment of tertiary lymphoid structures in stage I lung adenocarcinoma using CT radiomics: a multicenter retrospective cohort study.

Objective: To develop a multimodal predictive model, Radiomics Integrated TLSs System (RAITS), based on preoperative CT radiomic features for the identification of TLSs in stage I lung adenocarcinoma patients and to evaluate its potential in prognosis stratification and guiding personalized treatment.

Methods: The most recent preoperative chest CT thin-slice scans and postoperative hematoxylin and eosin-stained pathology sections of patients diagnosed with stage I LUAD were retrospectively collected. Tumor segmentation was achieved using an automatic virtual adversarial training segmentation algorithm based on a three-dimensional U-shape convolutional neural network (3D U-Net).

[Ovarian function in patients of childbearing age with systemic lupus erythematosus].

Objective: To explore the ovarian function and its influencing factors in women of childbearing age with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Methods: A total of 107 female patients diagnosed with SLE at Peking University People' s Hospital from January 2017 to May 2024, aged between 20 and 40 years, were included in the study. At the same time, 40 matched healthy women aged between 20 and 40 years were selected as controls.

Early Diabetic Retinopathy Evaluation With OCTA: A Study on Vascular Branching and Fragmentation.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to quantitatively evaluate the branching patterns and vascular fragmentation features in preclinical and early diabetic retinopathy (DR) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).

Methods: OCTA metrics, including branch node number (BNN), branch node density (BND), end point number (EPN), end point density (EPD), fragmented vessel segment count (FVSC), and fragmented vascular length ratio (FVLR), were measured in foveal and parafoveal regions within superficial and deep vascular plexus (SVP and DVP) in the retina.

Results: Compared to healthy control (HCs), both BNN and BND exhibited a significant decrease in individuals with mild DR across both retinal layers, and also in diabetes mellitus without DR (no DR) within DVP.

Intraductal ablation therapy for malignant biliary obstruction.

Background: Malignant biliary obstruction is usually attributed to the enlargement of tumors within or adjacent to the biliary tract, leading to blockage or compression of the bile ducts. Common causes include pancreatic head cancer, bile duct cancer, gallbladder cancer, liver cancer, and metastatic diseases. Most cases have an insidious onset, lack effective early screening methods, and 70% of patients cannot undergo surgical resection, with a 5-year survival rate of about 30%.

Three NAFLD datasets (GSE48452, GSE89632, and GSE63067) were collected from the GEO database and merged into combined GEO datasets.

Obesity is a chronic and complex disease defined by the excessive deposition of fat and is highly associated with oxidative stress. Adzuki bean saponins (ABS) showed anti-obesity activity in our previous in vivo study; however, the active saponins of adzuki beans and potential mechanisms are still unclear. This research aims to elucidate the anti-obesity effects of ABS in improving lipid metabolism and oxidative stress, exploring the effective ingredients and potential molecular mechanisms through UHPLC-QE-MS analysis, network pharmacology, bioinformatics, and in vitro experiments both in the 3T3-L1 cell line and HepG2 cell line.

Effect of high sensitivity C-reactive protein on uric acid-related cardiometabolic risk in patients with coronary artery disease-a large multicenter prospective study.

Although serum uric acid (SUA) is a risk factor for cardiometabolic outcome, but it remains unclear which patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) benefit the most from SUA lowering therapy (ULT). The association of SUA level, systemic inflammation and cardiometabolic risk is still unclear. The current study is aimed to examine whether SUA-associated cardiometabolic risk is modulated by systemic inflammation in CAD patients.

Examining the practical importance of nonstationary cardio-respiratory coupling detection in breathing training: a methodological appraisal.

This study investigates changes in cardiorespiratory coupling during clinic breathing training and its impact on autonomic nervous functioning compared with heart rate variability (HRV). A total of 39 subjects undergoing dynamic electrocardiogram-recorded breathing training were analyzed. Subjects were divided into early- and late-training periods, and further categorized based on changes in HRV indexes.
