Photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide (HO) generation is largely subject to the sluggish conversion kinetics of the superoxide radical (O) intermediate, which has relatively low reactivity and requires high energy. Here, we present a lattice-strain strategy to accelerate the conversion of O to highly active singlet oxygen(O) by optimizing the distance between two adjacent active sites, thereby stimulating HO generation via low-barrier oxygen-oxygen coupling. As the initial demonstration, the defect-induced strain in ZnInS nanosheet optimizes the distance of two adjacent Zn sites from 3.

The accumulation of microplastics (MPs) in aquatic environments has occurred pervasively. The MPs affect almost all the aquatic plants including the aquatic microorganisms, ultimately disturbing the food chain. Aquatic flora attracts MPs due to the formation of several chemical bonds and interactions, including hydrogen bonds, electrostatic, hydrophobic, and van der Waals.

A chronic diabetic wound, one of the most severe complications of diabetes, has a high incidence and causes great pain to patients, threatening their lives. In this paper, oxidative konjac glucomannan (OKGM) was reacted with ε-poly-l-lysine (EPL) through the dynamic Schiff's base reaction to make a multi-functional hydrogel. This hydrogel had excellent mechanical properties, injectability, self-healing ability, adhesivity and cytocompatibility.

3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA; Ecstasy) is a widely abused recreational drug that has also gained interest for potential clinical applications in mental health. With the growing recognition of gut microbiota's role in mental health, this study examined whether repeated oral MDMA administration could affect gut microbiota in the small intestine, cecum, and colon of male rats. Repeated oral MDMA administration (10 mg/kg/day for 14 days) caused significant changes in the gut microbiota across these regions, with distinct effects observed in each.

Transferable adversarial examples, which are generated by transfer-based attacks, have strong adaptability for attacking a completely unfamiliar victim model without knowing its architecture, parameters and outputs. While current transfer-based attacks easily defeat surrogate model with minor perturbations, they struggle to transfer these perturbations to unfamiliar victim models. To characterize these untransferable adversarial examples, which consist of natural examples and perturbations, we define the concept of fuzzy domain.

To address the need for highly sensitive and reliable detection of trace ochratoxin A (OTA) in food matrices, we developed a ratiometric fluorescent aptasensor by integrating CRISPR/Cas12a, hybridization chain reaction (HCR), and horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-induced inner filter effect (IFE). The mechanism involves OTA releasing an activator that initiates CRISPR/Cas12a trans-cleavage, blocking HCR assembly. This reduces HRP levels, limiting the conversion of o-phenylenediamine (OPD) to fluorescent 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP) (emitting at 562 nm) while maintaining strong emission from 2-amino terephthalic acid (BDC-NH) at 426 nm.

A more efficient signal amplification strategy is needed to improve the performance of promising photoelectrochemical sensors (PEC). Organic photoelectrochemical transistor (OPECT) sensors are of growing interest in many fields, but their potential has not yet been widely exploited and remains a challenge. In this study, a novel organic photoelectrochemical transistor aptamer (OPECT) biosensor combining photoelectrochemical analysis and organic electrochemical transistor with AgI-TiO (AgI-TNs) as photoreactive material and target-specific DNA chain reaction hybridization as signal amplifier for microcystin-LR detection was developed.

Genetic testing plays a crucial role in guiding individualized medication, however, detecting fine structural mutations in genes continues to present significant challenges. This study introduces a dual-signal fluorescence system, termed FeO@Au@PEG@P1+MOF@P, that integrates magnetic separation of FeO@Au with NH-MIL-88 (MOF) catalysis. Initially, the specimen (T1/T2) facilitated the formation of a specific complex (FeO@Au@PEG@P1+T1/T2) with FeO@Au@PEG@P1.

The site-selective functionalization of cyclic amides provides an attractive protocol for the synthesis of valuable molecules. We report herein an electrochemical desaturation and β-thiocyanation of cyclic amides under external oxidant-free conditions. This method exhibits broad functional group tolerance, excellent selectivity, mild reaction conditions and can be applied for late-stage functionalization of bioactive molecules.

Background: Current medical image registration methods based on Transformer still encounter challenges, including significant local intensity differences and limited computational efficiency when dealing with three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT) and cone beam CT (CBCT) images. These limitations hinder the precise alignment necessary for effective diagnosis and treatment planning. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop a novel method that overcomes these challenges by enhancing feature interaction and computational efficiency in 3D medical image registration.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks among the most prevalent gastrointestinal tumors globally and poses a significant threat to human health. In recent years, tumor organoids have emerged as ideal models for clinical disease research owing to their ability to closely mimic the original tumor tissue and maintain a stable phenotypic structure. Organoid technology has found widespread application in basic tumor research, precision therapy, and new drug development, establishing itself as a reliable preclinical model in CRC research.

Background: The challenge of expanding haematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) in vitro has limited their clinical application. Human hair follicle mesenchymal stem cells (hHFMSCs) can be reprogrammed to generate intermediate stem cells by transducing OCT4 (hHFMSCs) and pre-inducing with FLT3LG/SCF, and differentiated into erythrocytes. These intermediate cells exhibit gene expression patterns similar to pre-HSCs, making them promising for artificial haematopoiesis.

Ischemic diseases are major contributors to global morbidity and mortality, posing a substantial threat to human health. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) play an essential role in enhancing neovascularization in ischemic tissues, thereby facilitating tissue repair and regeneration. However, the utilization of EVs is hindered by their rapid uptake and clearance by the mononuclear phagocyte system (MPS), which markedly impedes their therapeutic efficacy and organ-specific accumulation.

Background: Recent phase III randomized controlled trials have demonstrated that first-line immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) improve prognosis in advanced HER-2-negative gastric cancer patients with programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) combined positive score (CPS) higher than 5. However, these findings are not confirmed in real-world settings, and the benefits in PD-L1 CPS < 5 patients remain controversial.
Methods: In this multicenter, retrospective cohort study, data from across thirteen medical centers were analyzed by inverse probability of treatment weighting for matching, alongside univariate and multivariate COX proportional hazard regression models.

Mitochondria are versatile and complex organelles that can continuously communicate and interact with the cellular milieu. Deregulated communication between mitochondria and host cells/organelles has significant consequences and is an underlying factor of many pathophysiological conditions, including the process of aging. During aging, mitochondria lose function, and mitocellular communication pathways break down; mitochondrial dysfunction interacts with mitochondrial dyscommunication, forming a vicious circle.

Vascular dysfunction, characterized by changes in anatomy, hemodynamics, and molecular expressions of vasculatures, is closely linked to the onset and development of diseases, emphasizing the importance of its detection. In clinical practice, medical imaging has been utilized as a significant tool in the assessment of vascular dysfunction, however, traditional imaging techniques still lack sufficient resolution for visualizing the complex microvascular systems. Over the past decade, with the rapid advancement of nanotechnology and the emergence of corresponding detection facilities, engineered nanomaterials offer new alternatives to traditional contrast agents.
