Biomaterials are widely used in regenerative medicine to repair full-thickness skin defect wounds. The adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF) shows pro-regenerative properties, however, the biological activity of SVF is suppressed due to the lack of an external scaffold. Tilapia skin, as a sustained and recyclable biomaterial with low immunogenicity, was applied in the preparation of a hydrogel.

During invisalign treatment, as salivary proteins or glycoproteins fill the space between the teeth and the aligners, they can easily adhere to the teeth, forming an acquired cellular film on which bacteria are highly susceptible to colonizing, which in turn leads to the development of enamel white staining lesions (WSLs), one of the major complications of orthodontic treatment. Inhibiting the activity of cariogenic bacteria while promoting the remineralization of demineralized enamel is the key to preventing and treating WSLs. Currently, the drug commonly used in clinical practice for the treatment of WSLs is silver diamine fluoride, which, although it has both antimicrobial and remineralizing effects, suffers from problems such as pulpal irritation and tooth discoloration.

Acidic bacterial biofilms-associated enamel white spot lesions (WSLs) are one of the hallmarks of early caries, causing demineralization and decomposition of dental hard tissues. Therefore, to effectively prevent and treat WSLs, it is important to inhibit the activity of cariogenic bacteria while promoting the remineralization of demineralized enamel. Amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) favors hard tissue remineralization due to its biological activity and ability to release large amounts of Ca and PO .

Aim: To develop a nomogram-based predictive model of tooth survival by comprehensively analysing clinical and radiographic risk factors of tooth loss (TL).
Materials And Methods: In this study, 3447 teeth of 131 subjects who underwent non-surgical periodontal treatment were examined retrospectively within a mean follow-up period of 11.6 years.
Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease characterized by the destruction of periodontal tissues, and the promotion of bone tissue regeneration is the key to curing periodontitis. Psoralen is the main component of Linn, and has multiple biological effects, including anti-osteoporosis and osteogenesis. We constructed a novel hydrogel loaded with psoralen (PSO) and stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1) for direct endogenous cell homing.

Curcumin, a polyphenol extracted from turmeric, is a potential alternative for the treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) due to its remarkable anticancer activity and low systemic toxicity. To further enhance the anticancer activity and bioavailability of curcumin, we synthesized a curcumin analogue, AC17, by modifying the benzene ring and methylene group of curcumin. A soluble hyaluronic acid microneedle patch (AC17@HAMN) was developed to ensure accurate and safe delivery of AC17 to tumor tissues.

Introduction: Persistent endodontic infections (PEIs) mediated by bacterial biofilm mainly cause persistent periapical inflammation, resulting in recurrent periapical abscesses and progressive bone destruction. However, conventional root canal disinfectants are highly damaging to the tooth and periodontal tissue and ineffective in treating persistent root canal infections. Antimicrobial materials that are biocompatible with apical tissues and can eliminate PEIs-associated bacteria are urgently needed.

Periodontitis leads to alveolar bone resorption and even tooth loss due to persistent microbial infection and persistent inflammatory response. As a promising topical drug delivery system, the application of hydrogels in the controlled release of periodontal bioactive drugs has aroused great interest.

The massive growth of various microorganisms on the orthodontic bracket can form plaques and cause diseases. A novel amine-terminated hyperbranched zirconium-polysiloxane (HPZP) antimicrobial coating was developed for an orthodontic stainless steel tank (SST). After synthesizing HPZP and HPZP-Ag coatings, their structures were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thickness measurement, contact angle detection, mechanical stability testing, and corrosion testing.

Advancements in tissue engineering are crucial for successfully healing tendon-bone connections, especially in situations like anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) restoration. This study presents a new and innovative three-dimensional scaffold, reinforced with nanofibers, that is specifically intended for acellular tendon complexes. The scaffold consists of a distinct layered arrangement comprising an acellular tendon core, a middle layer of polyurethane/type I collagen (PU/Col I) yarn, and an outside layer of poly (L-lactic acid)/bioactive glass (PLLA/BG) nanofiber membrane.

The increasing application of virtual surgical planning (VSP) in orthognathic surgery implies a critical need for accurate prediction of facial and skeletal shapes. The craniofacial relationship in patients with dentofacial deformities is still not understood, and transformations between facial and skeletal shapes remain a challenging task due to intricate anatomical structures and nonlinear relationships between the facial soft tissue and bones. In this study, a novel bidirectional 3-dimensional (3D) deep learning framework, named P2P-ConvGC, was developed and validated based on a large-scale data set for accurate subject-specific transformations between facial and skeletal shapes.

This study addressed enamel demineralization, a common complication in fixed orthodontic treatment, by evaluating a novel orthodontic adhesive with DMAHDM-PCL composite fibers. These fibers, produced through electrospinning, were incorporated into orthodontic adhesive to create experimental formulations at different concentrations and a control group. The study assessed antimicrobial properties, biosafety, and mechanical characteristics.

Without timely intervention, WSLs may lead to white spots or a sense of transparency on the tooth surface, and even the formation of dental caries (tooth decay) in severe cases. The key to preventing and treating WSLs is inhibiting the activity of acid-producing bacteria and promoting the remineralization of demineralized enamel.

A guided bone regeneration (GBR) membrane can act as a barrier to prevent the invasion and interference from foreign soft tissues, promoting infiltration and proliferation of osteoblasts in the bone defect area. Herein, a composite scaffold with dual functions of osteogenesis and antibacterial effects was prepared for GBR. A polycaprolactone (PCL)/nano-hydroxyapatite (n-HA) aerogel produced by electrospinning and freeze-drying techniques was fabricated as the loose layer of the scaffold, while a PCL nanofiber membrane was used as the dense layer.

Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes are two of the most common foodborne pathogens in the food industry. They form dual-species biofilms, which have a higher sensitivity to antimicrobial treatment and a greater microbial adhesion. In this experiment, we loaded DNase I and glucose oxidase (GOX) on chitosan nanoparticles (CSNPs) to explore their inhibitory effects on and disruption of dual-species biofilms of Salmonella enterica and L.

A novel lytic phage named vB_SlqS_ZDD2 was isolated from hospital sewage using the double-layer agar method with Serratia liquefaciens ATCC 27592 as the host. BLASTn analysis showed that the genome sequence of phage vB_SlqS_ZDD2 did not resemble any other phages in the NCBI database. Phenotype and phylogeny analysis indicated that this phage might be a new member of the class Caudoviricetes.

Dental implant surgery is a procedure that replaces damaged or missing teeth with an artificial implant. During this procedure, guided bone regeneration (GBR) membranes are commonly used to inhibit the migration of epithelium and GBR at the surgical sites. Due to its biodegradability, good biocompatibility, and unique biological properties, gelatin (GT) is considered a suitable candidate for guiding periodontal tissue regeneration.
