This work was to explore the changes of T lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (AECOPD) and the role of cellular immunity mediated in the disease process. Eighty-six patients with AECOPD who visited Qingdao Hiser Medical Center from June 2020 to December 2021 and 30 healthy people (controls) who underwent health examination in the same period were selected. The differences of pulmonary function (PF), arterial blood gas (ABG), blood routine inflammatory indexes, T lymphocyte and T lymphocyte subsets were compared between the two groups, and the correlation between T lymphocyte subsets and each index was analyzed.

Department of Cardiac Ultrasound, The Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, No. 16 Jiangsu Road, Qingdao, 266000, People's Republic of China; Institute for Translational Medicine, The Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, No. 38 Dengzhou Road, Qingdao, 266021, People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

Smoking is an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis. The smoke produced by tobacco burning contains more than 7000 chemicals, among which nicotine is closely related to the occurrence and development of atherosclerosis. Nicotine, a selective cholinergic agonist, accelerates the formation of atherosclerosis by stimulating nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) located in neuronal and non-neuronal tissues.

The global increase of community-associated (CA) infections with methicillin-resistant (MRSA) is a major healthcare problem. Although sequence type (ST) 398 MRSA was first described as a livestock-associated (LA) lineage, human-adapted MRSA (HO-MRSA) ST398 without livestock contact has subsequently been reported from China in our previous study and other later research. The proportion of ST398 HO-MRSA has also remarkably increased in recent years in China.

tsRNAs are small fragments of RNAs with specific lengths that are generated by particular ribonucleases, such as dicer and angiogenin (ANG), clipping on the rings of transfer RNAs (tRNAs) in specific cells and tissues under specific conditions. Depending on where the splicing site is, tsRNAs can be segmented into two main types, tRNA-derived stress-induced RNAs (tiRNAs) and tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs). Many studies have shown that tsRNAs are functional molecules, not the random degradative products of tRNAs.

As the most common type of cancer in female patients, the morbidity and mortality rates of breast cancer (BC) are high, and its incidence is gradually increasing worldwide. However, the underlying molecular and genetic mechanisms involved in the etiopathogenesis of BC remain unclear. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a novel type of non-coding RNAs that have been verified to serve a crucial role in tumorigenesis.

Deltamethrin (DLM) is a synthesized organophosphorus acaricide and bug spray, broadly utilized for veterinary and farming purposes. Although its exposure to humans and animals causes toxicity in the kidney and other primary organs, our objective was to assess the defensive effects of sitagliptin (Sita) and additionally curcumin (Cur) in the DLM-intoxicated rats' kidney. DLM-intoxicated rats revealed a huge increase of various biochemical parameters in serum identified with kidney damage: uric acid, urea, and creatinine.

MicroRNA-27a downregulates the expression of Hsp90 and enhances the radiosensitivity in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Onco Targets Ther

July 2019

Department of Radiation Oncology, Shandong Cancer Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University, Shandong University, Jinan, Shandong, People's Republic of China.

Purpose: Accumulating evidence suggests that microRNAs (miRNAs) possess diverse cellular regulatory roles in radiation responses. In this study, we aimed to identify the role of miR-27a in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) radiosensitivity by exploring the relationship between miR-27a and heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90).

Materials And Methods: We performed quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) to detect miR-27a expression in the plasma of ESCC patients and healthy volunteers.

Department of Pharmacology, School of Pharmacy, Qingdao University, Qingdao, Shandong 266000, China. Electronic address:

Chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy provides possibility for the treatment of malignancies since clinical trials have shown that CAR-T therapy has a significant anti-tumor effect. Although many efforts have been made to improve the efficacy and reduce the side effects of CAR-T therapy, there are still many problems to solve. With the rapid development of this field, combination immunotherapy has been proved to improve the efficacy of CAR-T therapy.

CERNA2: A predictor for clinical progression and poor prognosis in cervical carcinoma.

J Cell Biochem

July 2019

Department of International Obstetrics, International Department of Obstetrics, Xi'an Gaoxin Hospital, Xi'an, Shaanxi, China.

Competing long noncoding RNA 2 (lncRNA 2) for microRNA let-7b (CERNA2) has emerged as an important regulator of tumorigenesis and cancer progression but the clinical value and regulatory function of CERNA2 is yet to be investigated in cervical carcinoma. In our study, we found the CERNA2 expression was obviously increased in cervical carcinoma tissues compared with adjacent normal cervical tissues. In addition, we observed that metastatic lymph nodes exhibited high levels of CERNA2 expression in contrast to primary cervical carcinoma tissues.

Trehalose is a non-reducing disaccharide sugar that widely exists in a variety of organisms, such as bacteria and eukaryotes except the vertebrates. It plays an important role in a number of critical metabolic functions especially in response to stressful environmental conditions. However, the biosynthetic pathways of trehalose in cold-adapted yeast and its responses to temperature and salinity changes remain little understood.
