Considering the key role of myeloid cell differentiation-related genes in the tumor microenvironment (TME), we aimed to build a prognostic risk model using these genes for Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). The mRNA gene expression profiles of LUAD patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases were downloaded as the training and validation sets. Then, "edgeR" R package was applied to screen out the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and univariate cox regression, backward stepwise selection analyses were performed to construct a prognostic model for LUAD.

Article Synopsis
  • Pelvic fractures are serious injuries that require surgical intervention for correct anatomical restoration and function, highlighting the need for accurate preoperative planning.
  • The paper introduces a new automated framework that simulates fracture scenarios and restores pelvic structure by leveraging patient-specific data, ultimately helping in surgical planning.
  • Extensive testing shows that the method is both accurate and efficient, drastically reducing the time needed for surgical planning compared to traditional approaches, making it a potentially valuable tool in clinical settings.

The study titled "Transient receptor potential-related risk model predicts prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma patients" is a significant contribution to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) research, highlighting the role of transient receptor potential () family genes in the disease's progression and prognosis. Utilizing data from The Cancer Genome Atlas database, it establishes a new risk assessment model, emphasizing the interaction of genes with tumor proliferation pathways, key metabolic reactions like retinol metabolism, and the tumor immune microenvironment. Notably, the overexpression of the gene in HCC correlates with poorer patient survival outcomes, suggesting its potential as a prognostic biomarker and a target for personalized therapy, particularly in strategies combining immunotherapy and anti-TRP agents.

Background: Inflammation triggers atherosclerotic plaque rupture, leading to acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Following AMI, peri-coronary adipose tissue (PCAT) undergoes a transition from lipid-rich to hydrophilic characteristics due to vascular inflammation. This study investigates PCAT changes and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio levels during AMI.

Aim: To compare the dosimetric advantages and disadvantages between hybrid intensity-modulated radiation therapy (h-IMRT) and the volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) technique in hypofractionated whole-breast irradiation (HF-WBI) for early-stage breast cancer (BC).

Methods: The dose distribution of h-IMRT and VMAT plans was compared in 20 breast cancer patients. This comparison included evaluation of dosimetric parameters using dose volume histograms (DVHs) for the planning target volume (PTV) and organs-at-risk (OARs).

Background: Multiple myeloma (MM) is a prevalent hematologic malignancy characterized by the uncontrolled proliferation of monoclonal plasma cells in the bone marrow and excessive monoclonal immunoglobulin production, leading to organ damage. Despite therapeutic advancements, recurrence and drug resistance remain significant challenges.

Objective: This study investigates the effects of dandelion flavone (DF) on MM cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, aiming to elucidate the mechanisms involved in MM metastasis and to explore the potential of traditional Chinese medicine in MM therapy.

Interferon regulatory factor (IRF) family genes play a critical role in colorectal cancer (CRC) development and impact patient survival. This study evaluated the influence of functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in IRF genes on CRC survival, including functional predictions and experimental validations. Multivariate Cox regression analysis identified three linked SNPs as significant survival predictors, with the rs141112353 T/T genotype in the 3'UTR region of IRF6 significantly associated with decreased survival (HR = 1.

Disulfidptosis, an innovative type of controlled cellular death linked to metabolic dysfunction, has garnered attention. However, there is limited knowledge regarding the involvement of disulfidptosisrelated lnRNAs (DRlncRNAs) in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). The objective of our team in this study seeks to establish a DRlncRNAs signature, investigate their prognostic value in LSCC, and explore their associations with immune cell subpopulations, biological signaling pathways, and exploring implications for drug sensitivity.

Background: Currently, it is difficult to find a solution to the inverse inappropriate problem, which involves restoring a high-resolution image from a lowresolution image contained within a single image. In nature photography, one can capture a wide variety of objects and textures, each with its own characteristics, most notably the high-frequency component. These qualities can be distinguished from each other by looking at the pictures.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the main type of primary liver cancer. This study aimed to develop a basement membrane (BM) related lncRNAs risk signature to evaluate the prognosis of HCC patients. We screened differentially expressed BM-related lncRNAs (DE-BMRlncRNAs) for risk evaluation, and identified six DE-BMRlncRNAs (AC072054.

Background: Cancer stem cells (CSCs) and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are known to play a crucial role in the growth, migration, recurrence, and drug resistance of tumor cells, particularly in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). This study aims to investigate stemness-related lncRNAs (SRlncRNAs) as potential prognostic indicators for TNBC patients.

Methods: Utilizing RNA sequencing data and corresponding clinical information from the TCGA database, and employing Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) on TNBC mRNAsi sourced from an online database, stemness-related genes (SRGs) and SRlncRNAs were identified.

There has been a consistent and notable increase in the global prevalence of skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM). Although genetic factors are closely associated with the occurrence and development of melanoma, the potential influence of environmental factors cannot be overlooked. The existing literature lacks a definitive consensus on the correlation between air pollution and the incidence rate of SKCM.

Article Synopsis
  • - Proliferative nodular formation is a key feature of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which causes increased prostate size and lower urinary tract symptoms, but the exact mechanisms remain unclear due to technological limitations in studying BPH in patients.
  • - Researchers used a method called robust cell type decomposition (RCTD) alongside spatial transcriptomics and single-cell RNA sequencing to investigate changes in epithelial cells during nodular formation, confirming their findings with immunostaining techniques.
  • - A specific group of basal epithelial cells, named BE5, was identified as crucial in the progression of nodules in BPH through a process influenced by hypoxia and epithelial-mesenchymal transition, with heightened levels of c-Fos expression linked to
