Constitutional-isomerized covalent organic frameworks (COFs), constructed by swapping monomers around imine bonds, have attracted attention for their distinct optoelectronic properties, which significantly impact photocatalytic performance. However, limited research has delved into the inherent relationship between isomerization and the enhancement of HO photosynthesis. Herein, a pair of isomeric COFs linked by imine bonds (PB-PT-COF and PT-PB-COF) is synthesized, and it is proved that isomeric COFs exhibit different rate-determining steps in the generation process of HO, resulting in a twofold increase in photocatalytic efficiency.

Excellent comprehensive performance of hydrogels can be achieved by synergistically combining multiple interaction mechanisms. In this study, a series of hydrogels with rapid gelation and excellent adhesive, mechanical, self-healing, and conductive properties, driven by covalent bonds and multiple reversible interactions, were constructed by mixing acrylic acid (AA), aminated alkaline lignin (AAL), phytic acid (PA), and Fe. The rigid skeletons of polyacrylic acid (PAA) and AAL, as well as the metal coordination bonds formed between them and Fe, enhance the mechanical properties of the samples.

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Science & Technology of Ministry of Education, State Key Laboratory of Biobased Material and Green Papermaking, Faculty of Light Industry, Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences), Jinan, 250353, China.

Lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) loaded with silver nanoparticles have exhibited significant application potential in antibacterial and catalytic fields. However, the high solubility of LNPs in silver ammonia solution makes it difficult to achieve the reduction of Ag and the adsorption of silver nanoparticles. In this study, a protecting agent, terephthalic aldehyde (TA) is used to block lignin condensation and introduce aldehyde groups onto the lignin molecular backbone during lignin extraction.

In this study, bio-based composite films from nanocellulose, tannin and chitosan were fabricated. First, tannin was covalently immobilized onto dialdehyde CNCs (DACNCs) through the nucleophilic reaction to obtain TA-CNCs. TA-CNCs were then added into chitosan matrix as the nanofillers to obtain chitosan-TA-CNC (CS-TA-CNC) films.

In this work, an imidazolium-based poly(ionic liquid) (poly(1-dodecyl-3-vinyl-imidazolium bromide) functionalized magnetic three-dimensional graphene oxide (FeO@3D-GO@poly(ImCBr)) was synthesized via a vacuum freezing-drying method and used as a magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) adsorbent for the efficient extraction of pyrethroid pesticides from tea samples. The prepared FeO@3D-GO@poly(ImCBr) was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and X-ray photoelectron spectrogram (XPS). Due to its large specific surface area and the ability to offer multiple intermolecular interactions, including π-π stacking, hydrophobic and hydrogen bond interactions, the prepared FeO@3D-GO@poly(ImCBr) showed high extraction efficiency for pyrethroids.

  • Researchers explored how modifying starch with transglucosidase (TG) could reduce starch retrogradation by increasing the branching of its structure and exposing more active hydroxyl groups.
  • Hexose oxidase (HOX) was shown to enhance the oxidation of starch chains, creating more spatial repulsion among the starch molecules and changing the properties of the hydroxyl groups.
  • Results indicated that after treating native corn starch with TG for 16 hours and HOX for 48 hours, the modified starch had a decreased c-axis length and a significantly lower retrogradation rate of 0.22 compared to untreated starch.

Key Laboratory for Technology Research and Evaluation of Drug Products, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cheeloo College of Medience, Shandong University, 44 Wenhuaxi Road, Jinan, Shandong Province, 250012, China.

Local injection of anti-inflammatory drugs for osteoarthritis emerged as a promising administration in the clinic, and sustained-release dosage forms have great potential for future therapeutic applications. Controlling the response of patients only in the acute inflammatory phase is currently the focus of therapeutic interventions. To relieve acute pain in patients and to improve the long-term prognosis effect of osteoarthritis treatment, we designed a two-pronged approach in this research: an injectable double-layer microsphere containing a "nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug - macrophage polarizing factor" was constructed.
