Medicine (Baltimore)

November 2024

Department of Neurosurgery, Beilun District People's Hospital, Ningbo, Zhejiang, China.

We aimed to assess the worldwide burden of ischemic stroke (IS) associated with high body mass index (BMI) using data from the Global Burden of Disease 2019. This study examined the impact of high BMI on IS-related age-standardized death rates (ASDR) and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs). Estimated annual percentage changes (EAPC) is estimated annual percentage change.

Objective: To explore the molecular mechanism by which FEZF1-AS1 overexpression promotes progression of nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) via the miR-130a-5p/CCND1 axis.

Methods: TCGA database was used to analyze FEZF1-AS1 expression levels in NSCLC. FEZF1-AS1 expression was detected by qRT-PCR in clinical specimens of NSCLC tissues and NSCLC cell lines, and its correlation with clinical features of the patients were analyzed.

The ratio of alpha-calcitonin gene-related peptide to substance P is associated with the transition of bone metabolic states during aging and healing.

Chongqing Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases and Biomedical Sciences, Chongqing Municipal Key Laboratory of Oral Biomedical Engineering of Higher Education, Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, 400015, China.

Alpha-calcitonin gene-related peptide (αCGRP) and substance P (SP) are functionally correlated sensory neuropeptides deeply involved in bone homeostasis. However, they are usually studied individually rather than as an organic whole. To figure out whether they are interdependent, we firstly recorded the real-time αCGRP and SP levels in aging bone and healing fracture, which revealed a moderate to high level of αCGRP coupled with a low αCGRP/SP ratio in an anabolic state, and a high level of αCGRP coupled with a high αCGRP/SP ratio in a catabolic state, suggesting the importance of αCGRP/SP ratio in driving aging and healing scenarios.

It was aimed at the clinical value of predictive nursing and Algoplaque hydrocolloid dressing (AHD) combined with nanosilver antibacterial gel in treating medical device-related pressure injury (MDRPI). 100 patients, who underwent surgery in Chongqing Qijiang District People's Hospital from February 2019 to February 2020, were selected as the research objects and were randomly divided into the experimental group (50 cases) and the control group (50 cases). For the characterization test, a nanosilver antibacterial gel was created first.

Purpose: The purpose of the current study was to compare the outcomes of temporary stoma through the specimen extraction site (SSES) and stoma through a new site (SNS) after laparoscopic low anterior resection.

Methods: The rectal cancer patients who underwent laparoscopic low anterior resection plus temporary ileostomy were recruited in a single clinical database from Jun 2013 to Jun 2020. The SSES group and the SNS group were compared using propensity score matching (PSM) analysis.

CirRNA circFAM126A Exerts Oncogenic Functions in NSCLC to Upregulate IRS2.

Biochem Genet

December 2022

Department of Respiratory Medicine, Chongqing Qijiang District People's Hospital, No.54, Tuwan Branch Road, Gushan Street, Qijiang District, Chongqing, 401420, China.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a common histological subtype of lung cancer, which occupies 80-85% of the proportion in all lung cancer cases. Therefore, this study was designed to clarify the role and underlying molecular mechanisms of circFAM126A in NSCLC. The real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) assay was conducted to assess circFAM126A, FAM126A, miR-613, and IRS2 expression in NSCLC tissues and cells.

Nucleus accumbens-associated protein 1 (NACC1) has been reported to serve as an oncogenic role in several types of cancer; however, its role in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remains to be determined. The present study aimed to investigate the role of NACC1 in NPC and elucidate the underlying mechanisms. Therefore, NACC1 expression in the normal nasopharyngeal epithelial cell line, NP69, and various NPC cell lines was determined by reverse transcription-quantitative PCR and western blot analyses.

Background: At present, little attention has been paid to the impact of primary tumor size on the survival of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). We aimed to construct predictive nomograms for NPC that contain primary tumor size and Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) stage as factors with the use of a national population-based registry.

Methods: A total of 1,574 NPC patients diagnosed between 2004 and 2011 were identified from the SEER database.
