Background: Many studies have explored the clinicopathological features and prognosis between colorectal mucinous adenocarcinoma (MAC) and adenocarcinoma (AC) and have given different results. This meta-analysis summarizes previous evidence and evaluates the clinicopathological and prognostic features of MAC relative to AC in colorectal cancers (CRCs).

Methods: The meta-analysis was conducted by searching the databases of PubMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WANFANG data, Embase, and Web of Science.

The gut microbiome has a pivotal function in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). However, the associated alterations in the gut microbiome-host interaction are unknown. Herein, we aimed to investigate the gut microbiota and fecal metabolites in people living with HIV (PLWH).

Association of serum calcium and metabolically healthy obese in US adults: a cross-sectional study.

Objectives: The relationship between serum calcium and occurrence of MHO (metabolically healthy obesity) and MUNO (metabolically unhealthy non-obesity) remains unclear, and distinguishing these two phenotypes is difficult within primary healthcare units. This study explores that relationship.

Methods: This survey included 28590 adults from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001-2018.

Knowledge, attitudes, practices, and barriers of oncology nurses in promoting physical activity in cancer survivors: a cross-sectional survey in China.

Purpose: To explore the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of Chinese nurses in promoting physical activity among cancer survivors and the relationships between these attributes and to identify the factors hindering nurses' clinical practice.

Methods: Nurses from oncology-related departments of 10 public tertiary hospitals in Shandong Province completed self-administered questionnaires that included information about demographics; knowledge, attitudes, and practices of physical activity promotion; and barriers to clinical practice. The STROBE statement for observational studies was applied.

Therapeutic types and advantages of functionalized nanoparticles in inducing ferroptosis in cancer therapy.

Background: The clinical efficacy of cancer treatment protocols remains unsatisfactory; however, the emergence of ferroptosis-driven therapy strategies has renewed hope for tumor treatment, owing to their remarkable tumor suppression effects. Biologically based small-molecule inducers are used in conventional method to induce ferroptosis. Nevertheless, some molecular drugs have limited solubility, poor ability to target cells, and fast metabolism, which hinder their ability to induce ferroptosis over a prolonged period.

Pain Characteristics of the Posterior Longitudinal Ligament in Percutaneous Endoscopic Lumbar Discectomy and its Significance: A Retrospective Study.

Introduction: In percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD), pain occurs when the posterior longitudinal ligament (PLL) is exposed, removed, and decompressed. However, pain characteristics of the PLL stimulated in PELD have not been reported.

Methods: A total of 932 patients underwent PELD under local anesthesia.

Background: To date, the relationship between the Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) monitoring indicator tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) and the incidence of postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting(CABG) patients remains unknown. The main objective of this study was to explore the relationship between the TAPSE and the incidence of AKI in CABG patients.

Methods: This was a multicenter prospective cohort study was conducted between September 2021 and July 2022.

Background: When considering hepatectomy for elderly HCC patients, it's essential to assess surgical safety and survival benefits. This study investigated the impact of preoperative frailty, assessed with the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS), on outcomes for octogenarians undergoing HCC hepatectomy.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study of octogenarians who had hepatectomy for HCC between 2010 and 2022 at 16 hepatobiliary centers was conducted.

Interaction between tacrolimus and calcium channel blockers based on CYP3A5 genotype in Chinese renal transplant recipients.

Objective: To investigate the effect of calcium channel blockers (CCBs) on tacrolimus blood concentrations in renal transplant recipients with different genotypes.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included renal transplant recipients receiving tacrolimus-based immunosuppressive therapy with or without CCBs in combination. Patients were divided into combination and control groups based on whether or not they were combined with CCBs, and then further analyzed according to the type of CCBs (nifedipine/amlodipine/felodipine).

The expression levels of SNHG14 in breast cancer samples and cell lines were determined using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Cell proliferation, migration, and invasion abilities were detected using MTS and transwell assays.

Establishment and validation of a predictive model for spontaneous preterm birth in singleton pregnant women.

Introduction: In the current study, we screened for highly sensitive and specific predictors of premature birth, with the aim to establish an sPTB prediction model that is suitable for women in China and easy to operate and popularize, as well as to establish a sPTB prediction scoring system for early, intuitive, and effective assessment of premature birth risk.

Methods: A total of 685 pregnant women with a single pregnancy during the second trimester (16-26 weeks) were divided into premature and non-premature delivery groups based on their delivery outcomes. Clinical and ultrasound information were collected for both groups, and risk factors that could lead to sPTB in pregnant women were screened and analyzed using a cut-off value.

Long-term CXCR3 antagonist AMG487 mitigated acute graft-versus-host disease by inhibiting T cell activation in a murine model.

Background: Lymphocyte migration plays a key role in the development of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD). Blocking lymphocyte migration by targeting chemokine receptors, such as CXCR3, may be a promising strategy for preventing and treating aGVHD. Our previous studies have shown that short-term CXCR3 antagonist treatment combined with cyclosporine A alleviated aGVHD.

Dual-Prodrug-Based Hyaluronic Acid Nanoplatform Provides Cascade-Boosted Drug Delivery for Oxidative Stress-Enhanced Chemotherapy.

Insufficient drug accumulation in tumors severely limits the antitumor efficiency of hyaluronic acid (HA) nanomedicine in solid tumors due to superficial penetration depth, low cell uptake, and nonspecific drug release. Hence, we constructed a dual NO prodrug (alkynyl-JSK) and doxorubicin prodrug (-DOX)-conjugated HA nanoparticle (HA-DOX-JSK NPs), which achieved cascade-boosted drug delivery efficiency based on a relay strategy of NO-mediated deep tumor penetration─HA target CD44 tumor cell uptake─tumor microenvironment (TME)-responsive drug release. The nanoparticle demonstrated sustained and locoregionally GSH/GST-triggered NO release and GSH/pH-responsive DOX release in the tumor.

Methods: This study employed a stratified random sampling method to select 1,980 male clinical interns from five provinces in China between January and March 2024.

Objective: To ascertain the prevalence of asthma attacks among archivists and identify the associated occupational factors in this understudied professional population.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study among 1,002 archival workers. A multiple logistic regression was conducted to identify the association between asthma attacks and occupational exposures.

Nanoplastic pollution has become a significant global issue due to its widespread presence in the environment and potential adverse effects on human health. These emerging pollutants pose substantial risks to both living organisms and the environment, raising serious health concerns related to their proliferation.

Aberrant brain structural-functional connectivity coupling associated with cognitive dysfunction in different cerebral small vessel disease burdens.

Aims: Emerging evidence suggests that cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) pathology changes brain structural connectivity (SC) and functional connectivity (FC) networks. Although network-level SC and FC are closely coupled in the healthy population, how SC-FC coupling correlates with neurocognitive outcomes in patients with different CSVD burdens remains largely unknown.

Methods: Using multimodal MRI, we reconstructed whole-brain SC and FC networks for 54 patients with severe CSVD burden (CSVD-s), 106 patients with mild CSVD burden (CSVD-m), and 79 healthy controls.

Clinical features and mechanisms of neck myoclonus in narcolepsy.

Study Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of neck myoclonus (NM) on sleep quality and daytime sleepiness in patients with narcolepsy (NT) and to further explore possible underlying mechanisms.

Methods: We included 72 patients with narcolepsy type 1 (NT1), 34 patients with narcolepsy type 2 (NT2) and 33 healthy controls. Patients underwent questionnaires, lumbar puncture procedure, polysomnography, and multiple sleep latency test (MSLT).
