Article Synopsis
  • This study systematically reviewed and analyzed the effectiveness of periapical radiography (PA) compared to cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in detecting vertical root fractures (VRFs) in human teeth.
  • Researchers searched multiple databases for relevant articles and analyzed the data using specialized software to assess the studies' consistency.
  • The findings revealed that CBCT has a higher sensitivity (0.70) than PA radiography (0.51) for detecting VRFs, but their specificity values (0.84 for CBCT and 0.87 for PA) were not significantly different.
