Objectives: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) causes a developmental arrest of antral follicles and disrupts oocyte maturation. Retinoic acid (RA) and Fibroblast Growth Factor-2 (FGF2) are effective in follicle growth, thus their effects on histopathology and in vitro fertility of oocytes were investigated in PCOS-induced mice.

Materials And Methods: Eighty female NMRI mice were randomly divided into 8 groups including 1-Normal mice, 2-PCOS mice without any treatment, 3-Normal mice treated with RA, 4-Normal mice treated with FGF2, 5-PCOS mice treated with RA, 6- PCOS mice treated with FGF2, 7- PCOS mice treated with RA and FGF2, and 8- Normal mice treated with RA and FGF2.

Childhood Emotional Maltreatment (CEM) is a significant but under-studied risk factor for impaired mental health, with adolescents being particularly susceptible. This systematic review and meta-analysis, prospectively registered in PROSPERO as CRD42022383005, aims to synthesize the findings of studies investigating the association between CEM and adolescent psychopathology, making it the first attempt to the best of our knowledge. Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 guidelines, a comprehensive search (PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO, Science Direct, Embase, and ProQuest) yielded 12,224 studies, from which 72 were included in the qualitative synthesis.

Background And Objectives: This study aimed to assess the association between the 10-year implementation of tobacco control policies, cigarette affordability index and changes in tobacco smoking prevalence across Eastern Mediterranean (EMR) countries.

Materials And Methods: An ecologic study was conducted using EMR countries as the analytical unit. Data from three sources were utilized: the MPOWER scale to measure tobacco control policy implementation (2010-2020), the tobacco affordability index (expressed as a percentage of GDP per capita required to purchase 2000 cigarettes, from 2010 to 2020), and national tobacco smoking prevalence data for EMR countries (2010-2023).

A major factor in long-term impairment is stroke. Patients with persistent stroke and severe functional disabilities have few therapy choices. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) may contribute to the regulation of the pathophysiologic processes of ischemic stroke as shown by altered expression of lncRNAs and microRNA (miRNAs) in blood samples of acute ischemic stroke patients.

Cervical resorption is a serious threat to the longevity of the teeth. In this study, the Canny edge-detection algorithm was applied on CBCT images to compare the accuracy of original and Canny views for diagnosing cervical resorption in endodontically treated teeth. Intracanal metallic posts were inserted in 60 extracted teeth being randomly divided into three groups: control, 0.

Objectives: Intellectual disability (ID) represents a significant health challenge due to its diverse and intricate nature. A multitude of genes play a role in brain development and function, with defects in these genes potentially leading to ID. Considering that many of these genes have yet to be identified, and those identified have only been found in a small number of patients, no complete description of the phenotype created by these genes is available.

Article Synopsis
  • Ignoring outliers can lead to misleading results when analyzing Length of Stay (LOS) data, which often has a high number of outliers.
  • The study evaluates the effectiveness of Zero-Inflated Poisson (ZIP) and robust Zero-Inflated Poisson (RZIP) models in addressing challenges associated with outlier LOS data, with RZIP specifically employing a robust algorithm for better accuracy.
  • Analysis of data from 254 ICU patients revealed significant predictors of LOS and demonstrated that the RZIP model outperformed the traditional ZIP model in assessing these influences.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare psychological well-being, hope, and health concerns in leukemia patients before and after receiving stem cells.

Methods: The statistical population of the present study consisted of leukemia patients in Tehran, and the research sample was among the patients referred to the Bone Marrow Transplant Center of Shariati Hospital in Tehran, and they were placed in two experimental and control groups (15 people in each group), which were selected by purposive sampling method.

Results: To collect the data for the research, three psychological well-being questionnaires were used by Riff (2002), Schneider's Hope Scale (SHS), and Schneider's (1991) Health Concern Questionnaire (HCQ).

Background: The success rate of dental implants diminishes over time; the lack of osseointegration and infection are the major causes of most implant failures. One of the effective methods to improve the surface properties is to irradiate ultraviolet (UV) light. This study investigated the effect of UV photofunctionalization on the ultrasuperficial properties of sandblasted, large-grit, acid-etched (SLA) titanium discs.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigated how blood types affect the immune response to COVID-19 vaccines, focusing on antibody levels after vaccination at the Pasteur Institute of Iran between April 2021 and December 2022.
  • Results demonstrated that blood type A had a significantly higher increase in anti-Spike antibodies for those vaccinated with AstraZeneca compared to Sinopharm, while blood type O positively influenced antibody levels in both AstraZeneca and Sinopharm groups.
  • Additionally, Rh-positive individuals showed a greater antibody response in AstraZeneca vaccine recipients, across both homologous and heterologous regimens, suggesting blood types A and O, as well as Rh-positive status, may enhance vaccine effectiveness.

Article Synopsis
  • The systematic review examined the relationship between oral health-related quality of life (OHQOL) and mental health, specifically anxiety and depression, with a registered study protocol in the PROSPERO database.
  • The analysis included 15 cross-sectional studies involving 14,419 participants across nine countries, revealing weak associations between OHQOL and both depression and anxiety, indicated by Fisher's z-scores of 0.26 and 0.22, respectively.
  • Despite the weak correlations, the study concluded that anxiety and depression could still influence OHQOL, highlighting the importance of mental health in overall oral health quality.

Background: Considering the various manifestations of coronavirus disease 2019 and its imperative importance in terms of the right clinical approach and early management, we sought to present a hemicentral retinal vein occlusion case, with a history of heterozygosity of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) genes and potential for clotting complications as a late manifestation of coronavirus disease 2019, and provide a brief review of reported retinal vein occlusion cases in patients with coronavirus disease 2019.

Case Presentation: A 35-year-old Iranian patient presented with a visual impairment in the left eye 4 months after recovering from coronavirus disease 2019. He reported a mild blurring of vision in the same eye a few days after admission due to coronavirus disease 2019.

The current study aimed to assess the effect of non-thermal plasma (NTP) on the pushout bond strength (PBS) of epoxy resin and tricalcium silicate-based endodontic sealers. Forty single-canal extracted teeth were decoronated at the coronal region, underwent root canal preparation, and were assigned to four groups (n=10) for the application of AH26 sealer, NTP+AH26 (P-AH26), Endoseal TCS sealer, and NTP+Endoseal TCS sealer (P-TCS). The root canals were sectioned into 1 mm slices, and the PBS value was measured in a universal testing machine.
