Vanadium oxide-based compounds have attracted significant interest as battery materials, especially in aqueous Zn-ion batteries, due to favorable properties and compatibility in Zn-ion systems. In a simple hydrothermal method with moderate conditions, a novel vanadium oxide compound has been synthesized using ammonium metavanadate with oxalic acid as a reducing agent. Various characterization techniques confirmed the formation of layered VO(HO) nanoplatelets with a tetragonal crystal structure.

Key Clinical Message: It is important to consider the diagnosis of Sump syndrome in patients with a history of open cholecystectomy, particularly in those who migrate from developing countries where alternative biliary interventions may be limited. The presentation may range from acute severe, mimicking acute ascending cholangitis, to chronic recurrent abdominal pain without evidence of inflammation. Management is a case-by-case decision, with principal management aims to decompress the biliary tract and address any underlying sepsis.

Key Clinical Message: Vigilant intraoperative inspection is crucial during gallbladder surgery to detect any abnormal tissue including the rare pyloric gland adenomas, which can be easily missed. Thorough examination and removal of unusual lymph nodes or thickened tissues are essential to prevent the risk of malignant transformation and ensure comprehensive patient care.
Abstract: Pyloric gland adenomas are uncommon tumors that can be discovered in various organs such as the stomach, gallbladder, and pancreas.

Background And Aims: A ping pong fracture is a rare depressed skull fracture (DSF) observed in infants. It occurs due to the inward buckling of the calvarium, creating a cup-like shape. Trauma during childbirth, particularly from instrumental delivery or the application of pressure by physicians or midwives during challenging deliveries, is the primary cause.

Background And Aims: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD) are susceptible to complications, including iron overload, which can significantly impact their prognosis and overall health. This scoping review aimed to study the prevalence and implications of iron overload in CKD patients undergoing PD.
Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted across five databases, leading to the selection of 18 papers for in-depth analysis.

A 25-year-old male required emergency tracheal intubation on arrival to the emergency department following a motorbike accident. Despite the presence of a normal capnography a computed tomography scan demonstrated a tracheal opening, an extra-tracheal position of the distal end of the tracheal tube, and extensive subcutaneous emphysema.

This research investigates the efficacy of zinc oxide (ZnO) tubes in decontaminating polluted water using a substrate-free hydrothermal synthesis process for ZnO tubes. The synthesized tubes are impregnated into calcium alginate microfibres, strategically chosen for their high surface area to enhance photocatalytic degradation performance and for practical handling during decontamination and subsequent collection, thereby preventing secondary contamination. Structural and morphological analyses, conducted using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD), thoroughly characterize the properties of the ZnO tubes and the composite material.

Background And Aims: Accurate assessment of any patient relies on the use of appropriate measurements which are culturally- and linguistically-applicable and valid. The following study aimed to translate, cross-culturally adapt and test the nomological validity, structural validity, internal consistency, test-retest reliability, sensitivity-to-change and feasibility of the Swahili version of the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (Swa-PCS) among refugees who survived torture/war trauma living with chronic pain in Kenya.
Methods: An observational study was conducted.
With syphilis resurgence, physicians should be more vigilant to infection-induced cerebral vasculitis in high-risk patients presenting with neurological symptoms. In this case, neurosyphilis should not be missed. Thorough serologic screening and lumbar puncture are crucial for diagnosis, and further research is needed for safe and effective treatments in these populations.

This case report sheds light on the rare coexistence of brain capillary telangiectasia and venous angioma in a patient presenting with a seizure attributed to frontal lobe bleeding. Though often silent, brain capillary telangiectasia can manifest with serious life-threatening intracranial bleeding.

Transverse colonic volvulus (TCV) is a serious condition with a mortality rate of up to 33%. It is very rare, especially in children. Despite its rarity, surgeons should have a high index of suspicion and include it in the list of differential diagnoses, especially in patients with developmental delays and associated uncommon syndromes.

Dry reforming of methane (DRM) has recently received wide attention owing to its outstanding performance in the reduction and conversion of CH and CO to syngas (H and CO). From an industrial perspective, nickel (Ni)-supported catalysts have been deemed among the most suitable catalysts for DRM owing to their low cost and high activity compared to noble metals. However, a downside of nickel catalysts is their high susceptibility to deactivation due to coke formation and sintering at high temperatures.
