The human genome project ushered in a genomic medicine era that was largely unimaginable three decades ago. Discoveries of druggable cancer drivers enabled biomarker-driven gene- and immune-targeted therapy and transformed cancer treatment. Minimizing treatment not expected to benefit, and toxicity-including financial and time-are important goals of modern oncology.

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are widely prescribed medications for the management of acid-related disorders, due to their effectiveness and favorable pharmacokinetics. However, the occurrence and severity of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in patients using PPIs, particularly in relation to their association with polymorphisms, are of great concern. This association has largely been investigated through observational studies, which have shown conflicting or weak findings.

Evidence-based medicine (EBM) enhances clinical decision-making but faces implementation challenges, particularly in dentistry, where patient-specific complexities limit its effectiveness. This article examines EBM through the lens of Aristotelian logic, exploring its use of deductive and inductive reasoning and its limitations in addressing real-world variability. We then discuss how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance EBM by synthesizing data, automating evidence appraisal, and generating personalized treatment insights.

Super-resolution (SR) techniques present a suitable solution to increase the image resolution acquired using an ultrasound device characterized by a low image resolution. This can be particularly beneficial in low-resource imaging settings. This work surveys advanced SR techniques applied to enhance the resolution and quality of fetal ultrasound images, focusing Dual back-projection based internal learning (DBPISR) technique, which utilizes internal learning for blind super-resolution, as opposed to blind super-resolution generative adversarial network (BSRGAN), real-world enhanced super-resolution generative adversarial network (Real-ESRGAN), swin transformer for image restoration (SwinIR) and SwinIR-Large.

The global landscape of health genomics is expanding rapidly, with an increasing number of national and international initiatives, many of which are targeted toward accelerating the clinical implementation of genomic technologies and services in the context of local health systems. This includes a range of entities with different levels of maturity, funding sources, and strategies that focus on research and clinical priorities to varying degrees. While there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach, analysis of national genomics programs helps to identify common priority areas, barriers, and enablers.

Aflatoxin M (AFM1) is a potent mycotoxin that can contaminate milk and dairy products. It is a metabolite of aflatoxin B (AFB1), which is produced by certain fungi that infect crops. In Lebanon, traditional dairy production-including various cheeses, yogurt, and Labneh-is widely practiced.

Background: Circadian rhythms and sleep patterns are important regulators of metabolic health. During Ramadan intermittent fasting (RIF), the sleep-wake cycles are often disrupted, which can affect physical activity (PA) and related metabolic responses. Limited knowledge is available on how sleep disruption influences PA in the general population during RIF.

Background: Recent guidelines for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) with multivessel coronary artery disease (MVD) recommend revascularization of non-culprit lesions following primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, the optimal timing for this procedure-whether immediate or staged-remains uncertain.
Methods: A comprehensive search using PubMed (MEDLINE), Cochrane Central, and Google Scholar was conducted to identify studies comparing clinical outcomes between immediate and staged revascularization approaches in patients with MVD undergoing PCI.

This study investigates the impact of Bitcoin's energy and water consumption on environmental sustainability, focusing on the load capacity factor (LCF) and the roles of energy transition green technology in major cryptocurrency-producing nations. Utilizing the method of moments quantile regression (MMQR) approach, the findings reveal a negative impact of mining energy consumption on environmental sustainability, particularly in the lower quantiles, with a stronger negative effect in the higher quantiles. Energy transition plays a critical role in moderating this impact, though the shift towards cleaner energy sources has not been sufficient to mitigate the adverse environmental effects.

Severe collisions can result from aggressive driving and poor road conditions, emphasizing the need for effective monitoring to ensure safety. Smartphones, with their array of built-in sensors, offer a practical and affordable solution for road-sensing. However, the lack of reliable, standardized datasets has hindered progress in assessing road conditions and driving patterns.

Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), a cornerstone of global cereal crops, is increasingly vulnerable to concurrent heat stress, a critical abiotic factor that is intensified by climate change. This study employed genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to investigate "stress memory," a phenomenon where prior stress exposure enhances a plant's response to subsequent stress events.

Background: Cardiac arrest in children is associated with high morbidity and mortality, primarily due to neurological injury. Biomarkers linked to brain injury, released into circulation from compromised elements of the neurovascular unit, act as significant prognostic indicators in patients suffering from hypoxic-ischemic brain injury (HIBI) subsequent to the restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) after pediatric cardiac arrest. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to evaluate the prognostic utility of brain injury biomarkers in predicting neurological outcomes and survival in patients following cardiac arrest in the pediatric population.
