Tanshinone IIA (Tan IIA), an active component derived from Salvia miltiorrhiza root, has been used to treat various ischemic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. However, its impact on hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury remains unclear. Here, we addressed this issue by using a 90-minute partial liver ischemia model.

Objective: To investigate the regulatory effect of jianpi jiedu Recipe (JJR) on the microvessel density (MVD) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in long-term infection of Helicobacter pylori induced gastric cancer of C57BL/6 mice, thus providing experimental bases for its treatment of the H. pylori correlated gastropathy.
Methods: C57BL/6 mouse gastric cancer model induced by H.

Objective: To investigate the in vitro effects and the primary mechanisms of Changweiqing (, CWQ) on antimetastasis and antiinvasion of hypoxic colon carcinoma cells. In addition, to provide experimental evidence for the Chinese medicinal theory of "strengthening the body's resistance to eliminate pathogenic factors" in the treatment of colorectal cancer, including its invasion and metastasis.
Methods: First, CWQ sera were prepared with serum-pharmacology methods.

The over-expression of COX-2 (Cyclooxygenase 2) protein has been reported to play a key role in the incidence and development of Helicobacter pylori-associated gastric cancer. The induction of COX-2 in the gastric cancer cells with H. pylori has been demonstrated previously, but little is known about the mechanism.

Novel polylactic acid nanoparticles containing tanshinone IIA (TS-PLA-NPs) were synthesized by a single oil-in-water emulsion/solvent evaporation method. In this study, the optimized nanoparticles were characterized for morphology, mean particle size, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency, drug-loading content, X-ray diffractometer measurement, and in vitro release. The obtained nanoparticles were spherical and intact.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical results of subtalar arthrodesis and calcaneal thalamus reconstruction for malunion of calcaneal fractures and to discuss the indications and its advantages of the management.
Methods: From December 1994 to January 2006, 84 cases (96 feet) of malunion of calcaneal fractures were treated with subtalar arthrodesis and calcaneal thalamus reconstruction. The L-shaped approach lateral to calcaneus was used.
