Background: Depression and cognitive impairments are prevalent among older adults, with evidence suggesting potential links to obesity and lipid metabolism disturbances. This study investigates the relationships between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, body mass index (BMI), depression, and cognitive dysfunction in older adults, leveraging data from the NHANES survey and employing machine learning techniques.
Methods: We analysed 1352 participants aged 60-79 from the 2011-2014 NHANES dataset, who underwent cognitive function testing, depression assessments, and TyG index measurements.

Objectives: To deeply explore the mechanism of pachymic acid (PA) intervention in myocardial ischemia, providing new ideas and methods for the treatment of myocardial ischemia.
Methods: Predict the targets of PA for improving myocardial ischemia, and conduct functional enrichment analysis using databases, such as Gene Ontology, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes, and Reactome. To verify these findings, PPI network topology analysis and molecular docking were used to screen key targets and main mechanisms of action and further validated through in vitro experiments on the H9C2 cell line.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is primarily recognized for its motor symptoms, yet non-motor symptoms (NMS) such as neuropsychiatric disturbances, sleep disorders, autonomic dysfunction, and sensory abnormalities significantly contribute to the disease's overall burden. While traditional pharmacological and surgical treatments have primarily targeted motor symptoms, alternative therapies such as acupuncture, cognitive therapy, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) are gaining attention for managing NMS. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of alternative therapies for NMS in PD, drawing on evidence from international guidelines and TCM.

Chang-Wei-Qing (CWQ) is a widely recognized Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation composed of Astragalus, Codonopsis, Atractylodes, Poria, Coix seed, Akebia trifoliata Koidz, Sargentodoxa cuneata, and Vitis quinquangularis Rehd. This formulation has garnered significant interest for its positive effects in mitigating colorectal cancer, and when combined with PD-1, it affects some gut microbiota associated with tumor infiltrating lymphocytes cells. However, the biological rationale underlying the suppression of colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC) in AOM/DSS-treated mice by CWQ combined with PD-1 inhibitor remains to be explored.

Background: Chronic musculoskeletal pain is prevalent in individuals with hemodialysis-dependent renal failure (HDKF). The current opioid crisis highlights the urgent need for effective non-pharmacological pain management. Acupuncture, identified as a non-pharmacological intervention in clinical settings, holds promise for alleviating chronic musculoskeletal pain in HDKF patients, but well-designed studies assessing its specific effects in this population are lacking.

Background: A controlled type of cell death called ferroptosis is linked to increased reactive oxygen species (ROS), lipid peroxidation, and iron buildup. Furthermore, evidence indicates that ferroptosis may act as an immunogenic form of cell death with potential physiological functions in tumors and immunosuppression. Inducing ferroptosis in tumor cells may have the potential to complement cancer immunotherapy strategies.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Vascular endothelial dysfunction (VED) is recognized as a key triggering diabetic vascular complications. Danggui Liuhuang Decoction (DGLHD) has shown potential in mitigating these complications. However, the clinical efficacy of DGLHD in enhancing endothelial function, as well as the molecular mechanisms underlying its alleviation of Type 2 Diabetes-Related Vascular Endothelial Dysfunction (T2DM-VED), remains insufficiently understood.

Among the complications of diabetes, diabetic kidney disease (DKD) frequently emerges, typified by the detrimental effects on renal function, manifesting through inflammation, dysregulated lipid metabolism, and harm to podocytes. Existing research underscores the significance of the soluble form of C-X-C chemokine ligand 16 (CXCL16) within the context of renal impairments. However, whether CXCL16 is involved in the pathogenesis of DKD remains elusive.

Objective: To explore the role of the natural compound hesperidin in glycolysis, the key ratelimiting enzyme, in colorectal cancer (CRC) cell lines.
Methods: In vitro, HCT116 and SW620 were treated with different doses of hesperidin (0-500 µmol/L), cell counting kit-8 and colone formation assays were utilized to detected inhibition effect of hesperidin on CRC cell lines. Transwell and wound healing assays were performed to detect the ability of hesperidin (0, 25, 50 and 75 µmol/L) to migrate CRC cells.

Currently, despite the vast amounts of time and money invested in cancer treatment, cancer remains one of the primary threats to human life. The primary factor contributing to the low treatment efficacy is cancer heterogeneity. The unclear molecular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis, coupled with the complexity of human physiology, and the inability of animal models to accurately replicate the human tumor microenvironment, pose significant hurdles in the development of novel cancer therapies.
