Objective: To study the expression of the Homeobox C6 (HOXC6) gene in the homeobox family in PCa, its effect on the biological behavior of PCa cells and its action mechanism.

Methods: Based on the studies of HOXC6 retrieved from the database of Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA), we analyzed the expression of HOXC6 in PCa and the relationship of its expression level with the survival prognosis of the patients. We detected the expression of the HOXC6 protein in PCa tissues and cells by Western blot, stably interfered with the expression of the HOXC6 gene in human PCa DU145 and PC-3 cells and normal prostatic epithelial RWPE-1 cells using the siRNA plasmid, and determined the effects of HOXC6 on the proliferation, migration and invasiveness of PCa cells by CCK8, plate cloning and scratch healing and Transwell invasion assays.

Premature ovarian failure (POF) is a typical form of pathological aging with complex pathogenesis and no effective treatment. Meanwhile, recent studies have reported that a high-fat and high-sugar (HFHS) diet adversely affects ovarian function and ovum quality. Here, we investigated the therapeutic effect of thymopentin (TP-5) as a treatment for murine POF derived from HFHS and its target.

Do endometrial lesions require removal? A retrospective study.

BMC Womens Health

May 2019

Department of Gynecology, Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital, Tongji University School of Medicine, #2699 West Gaoke Road, Pudong New District, Shanghai, 200040, People's Republic of China.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the management of asymptomatic intrauterine lesions detected by ultrasonography.

Methods: Patients who underwent diagnostic hysteroscopy for asymptomatic lesions, including pre- and post-menopausal endometrial polyps, post-menopausal endometrial thickening (ET ≥5 mm) and reduplicative endometrial heterogeneity detected by transvaginal ultrasonography (TVUS), were recruited for this study.

Results: In the 792 recruited patients, the symptom-free focal masses within the uterine cavity detected by TVUS included 558 patients with pre- or post-menopausal endometrial polyps and 234 patients with postmenopausal endometrial thickening.

Differential radiation response between normal astrocytes and glioma cells revealed by comparative transcriptome analysis.

Onco Targets Ther

December 2017

Department of Neurosurgery, Renji Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, People's Republic of China.

Normal astrocytes are more resistant to radiation than glioma cells. Radiation-resistant glioma cells and normal astrocytes usuallly share similar mechanisms of radioresistance. Investigation of the underlying mechanisms of differential radiation response between normal astrocytes and glioma cells is thus significant for improvement of glioma treatment.

Association of Relapse with Renal Outcomes under the Current Therapy Regimen for IgA Nephropathy: A Multi-Center Study.

PLoS One

May 2016

Department of Nephrology, Molecular Cell Lab for Kidney Disease, Ren Ji Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, 160 Pujian Road, Shanghai 200127, China.

Background And Objectives: Renal relapse is a very common manifestation of IgA nephropathy (IgAN). The clinical characteristics and long-term outcomes of this condition have not yet been carefully explored.

Design And Patients: Patients with biopsy-proven IgAN between January 2005 and December 2010 from three medical centers in China was a primary cohort of patients.

The aim of this study was to investigate the associations of matrix metalloprotease-1 (MMP-1) and its receptor protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR-1) coexpression with the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients with prostate cancer (PCa). Immunohistochemistry was performed to detect the expression changes of MMP-1 and PAR-1 proteins in 180 pairs of human PCa tissues and matched non-cancerous prostate tissues. Then, the associations of combined MMP-1 and PAR-1 expression with selected clinicopathological characteristics and patient prognosis were evaluated.
