Background: Dynamic changes in neuronal activity and in noradrenergic locus coeruleus (LC) projections have been proposed during the transition from acute to chronic pain. Thus, the authors explored the cellular cFos activity of the LC and its projections in conjunction with spontaneous pain-like behavior in neuropathic rats.
Methods: Tyrosine hydroxylase:Cre and wild-type Long-Evans rats, males and females, were subjected to chronic constriction injury (CCI) for 2 (short-term, CCI-ST) or 30 days (long-term, CCI-LT), evaluating cFos and Fluoro-Gold expression in the LC, and its projections to the spinal cord (SC) and rostral anterior cingulate cortex (rACC).

Background: Among bariatric techniques, sleeve gastrectomy (SG) stands out owing to its efficiency. The role of the stomach as a secretory organ of many substances, such as gastrin, related to insulin secretion is well known. Gastrin induces insulin release in isolated pancreatic islets, limiting somatostatin-14 intraislet release, and has been associated with blood glucose level improvement in diabetic models after SG.

Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) in the pediatric population is an infrequent but relevant cause of morbidity and mortality, with limited studies addressing its clinical course and prognosis. We aimed to analyze the clinical features and prognosis of pediatric TTS in a nation-wide multicenter registry and considering the published literature. We included a total of 54 patients from 4 different hospitals in Spain, as well as pediatric TTS patients from the published literature.

Despite high cure rates (80-90%) obtained with the current multiagent protocols, a significant proportion of cHL patients experience recurrences, characterized by a lower sensitivity to second-line treatments. The genomic background of chemorefractory cHL is still poorly understood, limiting personalized treatment strategies based on molecular features.

Background: Lateral Epicondylalgia (LE) represents one of the most common injuries of the upper limb. It is necessary to find effective treatments that reduce pain and increase functionality.
Purpose: To determine the effects of an integrated intervention of Pulsed Negative Pressure Myofascial Vacuum Therapy (VT), Percutaneous Electrolysis (PE) and eccentric exercise (EE) in the treatment of LE compared versus Manual Therapy soft tissue mobilization (MT) and Ultrasound therapy (US) and EE.

Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been proposed as an emerging marker of the immune system alterations in psychotic disorders. However, it is not entirely clear whether NLR elevation is a characteristic of the psychotic disorder itself, which inflammatory pathways activation is detecting, or which possible confounding variables could alter its interpretation. We aimed to analyze the relationship of NLR values with a panel of inflammatory and oxidative/nitrosative stress biomarkers and main potential confounding factors in a well-characterized cohort of 97 patients with a first episode of psychosis (FEP) and 77 matched healthy controls (HC).

Objective: To analyze the impact, performance, degree of specialization, and collaboration patterns of the worldwide scientific production on tissue engineering in otorhinolaryngology at the level of countries and institutions.
Methods: Two different techniques were used, performance and science mapping analyses, using as samples all the available documents regarding tissue engineering focused on otorhinolaryngology applications. The dataset was retrieved from the Core Collection of the Web of Science database from 1900 to 2020.

Head and neck cancer (HNC) is a prevalent and aggressive form of cancer with high mortality rates and significant implications for nutritional status. Accurate assessment of malnutrition in patients with HNC is crucial for optimizing treatment outcomes and improving survival rates. This study aimed to evaluate the use of ultrasound techniques for predicting nutritional status, malnutrition, and cancer outcomes in patients with HNC.

Objectives: To obtain 3D printed bone models with a haptic sensation similar to that of the real bone, which will help the surgeon to learn and improve based on practice.
Methods: From computed tomography, 3 digital anatomical models of the human proximal femur were created and, by modifying the printing parameters, both cortical and trabecular tissues were simulated, which were combined in a different cortico-cancellous interface depending on the bone segment. The 3 equivalent models obtained were compared with a commercial Sawbone synthetic model and subjected to a series of blind surgical practice trials performed by 5 TOC specialists from a hospital, each of them with different degrees of expertise.
