Background: "Real-life" data on cardiovascular management and clinical outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and hematologic malignancies are limited.
Aim: To describe the clinical profile and incidence of cardiovascular events in this population.
Methods: Data were obtained from the CANAC-FA Registry, an observational, multicenter and retrospective study.

Background: Cardioneuroablation (CNA) treats reflex syncope by ablating ganglionated plexi (GPs) either confined to the right (RA) or left atrium (LA), or accessible from both. We assessed whether GP ablation in one atrium affects parasympathetic modulation in the other and how ablation sequence (RA then LA, or vice-versa) impacts efficacy.
Methods: Two propensity-matched groups of patients with reflex syncope or functional bradycardia were analyzed.

Introduction: In kidney transplant (KT) recipients diabetes mellitus (DM) are associated with an increased mortality and a poorer graft survival. Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP1-RA) have demonstrated cardiovascular and renal benefits in the general population. However, there is lacking evidence in KT recipients.

Background: Stability during early postnatal life in preterm infants is related to better outcomes. Although vital signs are monitored continuously in Neonatal Intensive Care Unites, this monitoring does not include all physiological parameters nor data such as movement patterns. Although there are scattered sources of data, there is no centralized data hub for neonates information.

Engineered stone silicosis (ESS), primarily caused by inhaling respirable crystalline silica, poses a significant occupational health risk globally. ESS has no effective treatment and presents a rapid progression from simple silicosis (SS) to progressive massive fibrosis (PMF), with respiratory failure and death. Despite the use of diagnostic methods like chest x-rays and high-resolution computed tomography, early detection of silicosis remains challenging.

The ability of serum biomarkers to predict the prognosis and response to deep-brain stimulation (DBS) therapy in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients is promising. Here, we showed that NfL differed between healthy individuals and PD patients and that changes in NfL, GFAP, and BDNF occurred only transiently after DBS surgery. Therefore, subthalamic stimulation does not promote neurodegeneration, and these biomarkers do not serve as clinical improvement endpoints in PD DBS patients.

Background: Malnutrition and sarcopenia are highly prevalent in patients with head neck cancer (HNC). An accurate early diagnosis is necessary for starting nutritional support, as both are clearly associated with clinical outcomes and mortality. We aimed to evaluate the applicability and accuracy of body composition analysis using electrical bioimpedance vectorial analysis (BIVA) for diagnosing malnutrition and sarcopenia in patients with HNC cancer undergoing systemic treatment with chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Despite mild forms of the disease accounting for most cases worldwide, research on the pathophysiology driving mild coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has received little attention. In this respect, recent evidence has pointed out that around 30-40% of non-critical, mild-to-moderate severity COVID-19 survivors may display cognitive disturbances several months post-illness.

Germinal matrix-intraventricular hemorrhage (GM-IVH) is one of the most common complications of the preterm newborn. The pathology of the GM-IVH is not completely understood and even regions distant from the lesion area are severely affected. It has been suggested that cerebellar diaschisis may underlie the neurodevelopmental problems that many of these kids show, including cerebral palsy, attention deficit disorders or hyperactivity.

In this study, we introduce MGA-Net, a novel mask-guided attention neural network, which extends the U-net model for precision neonatal brain imaging. MGA-Net is designed to extract the brain from other structures and reconstruct high-quality brain images. The network employs a common encoder and two decoders: one for brain mask extraction and the other for brain region reconstruction.

Sport climbing requires a combination of physical and cognitive skills, with working memory (WM) playing a crucial role in performance. This study aimed to investigate the association between WM capacity and climbing ability, while considering potential confounding factors including sex, age, education level, and climbing experience. Additionally, the study compared prefrontal cortex (PFC) hemodynamic responses among different climbing ability groups and sex during WM performance.

This study aimed to describe the nonpharmacological management and characteristics of patients with castration-resistant PC with unknown metastatic status (CRPC-MX) and estimate their prevalence in Spain.
Methods: Cross-sectional, multicenter, real-world study including adult (≥18 years) CRPC-MX patients from 46 Urology services.

The diagnostic odysseys for rare disease patients are getting shorter as next-generation sequencing becomes more widespread. However, the complex genetic diversity and factors influencing expressivity continue to challenge accurate diagnosis, leaving more than 50% of genetic variants categorized as variants of uncertain significance.Genomic expression intricately hinges on localized interactions among its products.

Background: Higher accelerometer-assessed volume and intensity of physical activity (PA) have been associated with a longer life expectancy but can be difficult to translate into recommended doses of PA. We aimed to: (a) improve interpretability by producing UK Biobank age-referenced centiles for PA volume and intensity; (b) inform public-health messaging by examining how adding recommended quantities of moderate and vigorous PA affect PA volume and intensity.
Methods: 92,480 UK Biobank participants aged 43-80 years with wrist-worn accelerometer data were included.

Rhinoviruses (RVs) are a leading cause of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in children. The relationship between RV viral loads (VL), RV/viral-co-detections and disease severity, is incompletely understood. We studied children and adolescents ≤21 years with RV-ARI that were identified as inpatients or outpatients using a PCR panel from 2011-2013.

Introduction: Several studies demonstrate the relationship between preterm birth and a reduced thalamus volume at term-equivalent age. In contrast, this study aims to investigate the link between the thalamic growth trajectory during the early postnatal period and neurodevelopment at two years of age.
Methods: Thalamic volume was extracted from 84 early MRI scans at postmenstrual age of 32.

Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy is an inherited entity characterized by irregular cell-cell adhesion, cardiomyocyte death and fibro-fatty replacement of ventricular myocytes, leading to malignant ventricular arrythmias, contractile dysfunction and sudden cardiac death. Pathogenic variants in genes that encode desmosome are the predominant cause of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy. Moreover, signalling pathways such as Wnt/ß-catenin and transforming growth factor-β have been involved in the disease progression.
