Background: Studies on the association of exclusive breastfeeding and postpartum depression (PPD) are inconsistent and no prior study has investigated whether this association was influenced by other factors. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between exclusive breastfeeding and PPD in Chinese population, as well as to determine whether other factors influence this association.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was carried out on 7685 postpartum women from a hospital of Shenzhen, China, utilizing the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) to evaluate PPD.

An electrochemical biosensor was created to identify the liver cancer marker alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) by employing nanocomposite materials. A combination of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and molybdenum disulfide (MoS) was selected as the substrate material for the sensor to prepare the PtNPs/MoS@rGO electrochemical immunosensor. Among them, rGO has strong conductivity and MoS provides a large surface area for the anchoring of PtNPs for better attachment to the hybridized nanomaterials.

Aims: To examine whether an extended lifestyle metrics incorporating sleep quality improves risk stratification for metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), at-risk metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and significant fibrosis.
Methods: A total of 5011 participants with abdominal ultrasound from Imaging sub-cohort of South China Cohort (ISSCC) and 3672 participants underwent vibration controlled transient elastography from US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (US NHANES) were included. Liver Essential 5 was constructed by incorporating sleep quality into traditional healthy lifestyles (HLS).

Purpose: () is associated with several gynecological tumors; yet its prognostic role in breast cancer remains unclear. Thus, we investigated the prognostic role of anti- immunoglobulin G (IgG) in breast cancer patients and the modification effects of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
Methods: The serum levels of IgG and four pro-inflammatory cytokines were measured.

Background: Social determinants of health (SDHs) are the primary drivers of preventable health inequities, and the associations between SDHs and health outcomes among individuals with type 2 diabetes remain unclear. This study aimed to estimate the associations of combined SDHs with life expectancy and future health risks among adults with type 2 diabetes from the UK and USA.
Methods: In an analysis of two nationwide cohort studies, adults with type 2 diabetes were identified from the UK Biobank from March 13, 2006, to Oct 1, 2010 (adults aged 37-73 years) and the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 1999 to 2018 (adults aged ≥20 years).

Lipid droplets are important for the storage of neutral lipids in cells; moreover, they participate in a variety of activities in cells and are multifunctional organelles. In the past few decades, lipid droplets have been extensively studied and found to play important roles in cellular energy balance, signal regulation and metabolic regulation. In particular, the formation and function of lipid droplets in adipocytes and mast cells have received much attention.

Background: Norovirus gastroenteritis outbreaks were common in schools and kindergartens and were more related to faculty knowledge, attitude, and practice level. Gastroenteritis outbreaks caused by norovirus in educational institutions were the prominent cause of Public Health Emergency Events in China. This study aimed to explore the transformation in the contribution of KAP items related to outbreak prevention before and after intervention and the impact of demography factors on the intervention.

Objectives: Evidence on the link between long-term ambient particulate matter (PM) exposures and childhood sleep disorders were scarce. We examined the associations between long-term exposures to PM and PM (PM with an aerodynamic equivalent diameter <2.5 μm and <1 μm, respectively) with sleep disorders in children.

Background: Evidence on the association between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] and infections among patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), a group susceptible to vitamin D deficiency and infections, is limited.
Objectives: We aimed to examine this association in individuals with T2D, and to evaluate whether genetic variants in vitamin D receptor (VDR) would modify this association.
Methods: This study included 19,851 participants with T2D from United Kingdom Biobank.

In the last week of September 2023, a surge of influenza-like illness was observed among students of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Health Service Education and Training Center, where 48 (27 males and 21 females; age in years: mean 33, range 27-41) of 247 military students at the Center presented with respiratory symptoms. Between September 25 and October 10, 2023, all 48 symptomatic students were evaluated with real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and sequencing for both influenza and SARS-CoV-2. Thirteen (27%) students were found positive for influenza A/H3 only, 6 (13%) for SARS-CoV-2 only, and 4 (8%) were co-infected with influenza A/H3 and SARS-CoV-2.

BACKGROUND Exposure to air pollution (AP) during pregnancy is associated with pre-labor rupture of membranes (PROM). However, there is limited research on this topic, and the sensitive exposure windows remain unclear. The present study assessed the association between AP exposure and the risk of PROM, as well as seeking to identify the sensitive time windows.

Genome-wide circulating cell-free DNA (ccfDNA) fragmentation for cancer detection has been rarely evaluated using blood samples collected before cancer diagnosis. To evaluate ccfDNA fragmentation for detecting early hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), we first modeled and tested using hospitalized HCC patients and then evaluated in a population-based study. A total of 427 samples were analyzed, including 270 samples collected prior to HCC diagnosis from a population-based study.

Purpose: The objective of the study was to evaluate the use of tumor content in circulating cell-free DNA (ccfDNA) for monitoring hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) throughout its natural history.
Experimental Design: We included 67 patients with hepatitis B virus-related HCC, of whom 17 had paired pre- and posttreatment samples, and 90 controls. Additionally, in a prospective cohort with hepatitis B virus surface antigen-positive participants recruited in 2012 and followed up biannually with blood sample collections until 2019, we included 270 repeated samples before diagnosis from 63 participants who later developed HCC (pre-HCC samples).

The mode of action (MOA) framework is proposed to inform a biological link between chemical exposures and adverse health effects. Despite a significant increase in knowledge and awareness, the application of MOA in human health risk assessment (RA) remains limited. This study aims to discuss the adoption of MOA for health RA within a regulatory context, taking our previously proposed but not yet validated MOA for lead neurotoxicity as an example.

Background: Men who have sex with men (MSM) in China have a high risk for HIV infection but experience suboptimal rates of HIV testing and service engagement due to various social and structural barriers. We developed a mobile health (mHealth) intervention entitled "WeTest-Plus" (WeTest+) as a user-centered "one-stop service" approach for delivering access to comprehensive information about HIV risk, HIV self-testing, behavioral and biomedical prevention, confirmatory testing, treatment, and care.
Objective: The goal of the current study was to investigate the feasibility of WeTest+ to provide continuous HIV services to high-risk MSM.

To evaluate the performance of "Vaccination Rates Monitoring Report System" implemented by Shenzhen CDC, we conducted an analysis of the data quality and identify key areas for system improvement. Following evaluation guidelines provided by WHO and United States CDC, we established six evaluation attributes: representativeness, simplicity, acceptability, data reliability, stability and timeliness. In eastern, central and western regions of Shenzhen, we selected one district from each region, of which the local CDC and ten CHSCs under jurisdiction were chosen for evaluation.
