Spontaneous transvaginal small bowel evisceration, without recent trauma or surgery, is extremely rare. Complications include bowel obstruction, perforation, gangrene, septicaemia and death, requiring urgent surgical intervention. We report a case of a woman in her late 60s, who presented with 70-75 cm of small intestine eviscerated through the vagina, alongside a long history of uterine and rectal prolapse.

Background: Optimal therapy following breast-conserving surgery in older adults with low-risk, early-stage breast cancer remains uncertain. The EUROPA trial aims to compare the effects of radiotherapy and endocrine therapy as single-modality treatments on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and ipsilateral breast tumour recurrence (IBTR) outcomes in this population.
Methods: This non-inferiority, phase 3, randomised study was conducted at 18 academic hospitals across Italy (17 centres) and Slovenia (one centre).

Background And Objectives: Ocular myasthenia gravis (OMG) causes disabling ocular symptoms of ptosis and diplopia, but a validated disease-specific patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) has not been reported. We sought to validate a novel PROM for OMG, OMG Rating Scale Questionnaire (OMGRate-q), as a measure of visual functioning to support patient-centered care.
Methods: This was a prospective study of patients aged 18 years and older with OMG receiving care at 3 medical centers (January 2022-October 2023).

Background: Conventional sunscreens shield the skin from ultraviolet (UV) rays up to 370 nm leaving wavelengths between 370 and 400 nm unfiltered despite their potentially harmful biological and clinical effects.
Objective: The beneficial effects of methoxypropylamino cyclohexenylidene ethoxyethylcyanoacetate (MCE) UVA1 filter were explored at 1% in a SPF50 sunscreen under outdoors summer conditions against pigmentation and aging signs compared against a reference SPF50 without the MCE filter.
Materials And Methods: A prospective randomized comparative intra-individual study was conducted in 52 Brazilian women (phototype I-III).

To assess the very long-term functional outcomes and complications of robot-assisted sacrocolpopexy (RASC) at our institution where this robotic technology for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) repair has been available since 2006. A retrospective review of a cohort of women who underwent a RASC was performed by an investigator not involved in the clinical care of these patients. Women with no electronic medical record follow-up in the last 2 years were contacted by telephone.

A young adult female in her 20s presented with gradually progressive exodeviation of the left eyeball from the last 3 years. She had mild ptosis and proptosis in her left eye with 3 mm of anisocoria. On examination, she was found to have 60 prism dioptres exotropia with minimal motility limitation (-1 adduction, elevation and depression) in the left eye.

Background: Pathogenic variants in may lead to a syndromic genetic aortopathy. Heritable thoracic aortic disease (HTAD) and arterial events may occur in -related disease but there are limited outcomes data on vascular events in this condition.
Methods: Clinical data, phenotypical features and aortic outcomes in individuals with pathogenic/likely pathogenic (P/LP) variants enrolled in the Montalcino Aortic Consortium registry were reviewed.

Sickle cell disease is known to cause painful vaso-occlusive crises in long bones with large marrows. Orbital infarction is a rare complication of sickle cell disease and usually presents in children and adolescents with acute onset periocular swelling mimicking orbital cellulitis. We describe an atypical case of a 38-year-old man with homozygous sickle cell disease who presented with isolated, complete ptosis of his OD with minimal swelling.

Introduction And Hypothesis: The objective was to compare the vaginal and laparoscopic approaches with natural tissue vaginal repair of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) in terms of recurrence rate and complete remission rate (CRR) of symptoms.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective cohort study analyzed women who underwent hysterectomy for uterine prolapse at two Italian hospitals between October 2021 and March 2023. Group A included 89 patients who received vaginal hysterectomy and colposuspension (VCH), whereas group B included 58 patients who underwent laparoscopic hysterectomy followed by laparoscopic colposuspension sec Shull (LPSS).

Pelvic organ prolapse is a disorder that seriously impacts the quality of life of women. It occurs when muscles and ligaments weaken and cause pelvic organs to drop lower in the pelvis, creating a bulge in the vagina. Surgery to correct pelvic organ prolapse has been a mainstay treatment.

Objective: This study aims to access the frequency of single-nucleotide polymorphism rs12589592 (G>A) of the fibulin-5 gene in a Brazilian population with pelvic organ prolapse.
Methods: This was a case-control study, with menopausal women divided into two groups and classified using the pelvic organ prolapse quantification system: pelvic organ prolapse group: pelvic organ prolapse quantification system stages III and IV and Control group: pelvic organ prolapse quantification system stages I and 0. We collected epidemiologic and baseline health information and performed genotyping of rs12589592 from the fibulin-5 gene using a restriction fragment length polymorphism (polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism) strategy, based on the distinction of sequences from alleles G and A by the restriction enzyme DdeI.

Cardiovascular complications in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) are frequently investigated extrarenal manifestations with contradictory outcomes. The primary goal of this study is to explore the prevalence of cardiovascular abnormalities using echocardiography and analyze their associations with clinical characteristics at different stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression in ADPKD patients. We included sixty-eight patients in the study.

Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common degenerative disease of the lumbar spine, which is related to host genetic factors. Our study aimed to explore the association between MIR3142HG polymorphisms and LDH susceptibility. Six SNPs in MIR3142HG from 504 LDH patients and 500 healthy individuals were genotyped by the Agena MassARRAY platform.
