Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Government Dental College, Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, Haryana, India.

Purpose: We propose a new classification of subcondylar fractures of the mandible based on ramal height shortening and degree of fracture angulation and present our treatment experience using this classification system.

Patients And Methods: Eighty patients with subcondylar fractures of the mandible were evaluated. We categorized the fractures into 3 classes: Class 1 (minimally displaced), fracture with ramal height shortening: <2 mm and/or degree of fracture displacement: <10°; Class 2 (moderately displaced), fracture with ramal height shortening: 2 to 15 mm and/or degree of fracture displacement: 10 to 35°; Class 3 (severely displaced), fracture with ramal height shortening: >15 mm and/or degree of fracture displacement: >35°.

The administration of supplemental oxygen is an essential element of appropriate management for a wide range of clinical conditions; crossing different medical and surgical specialities. The present review summarizes the role of supportive oxygen therapy in various clinical conditions encountered in our day-to-day practice in the speciality of oral and maxillofacial surgery; including major trauma, shock, sepsis; perioperative and postoperative considerations and in patients with various other medical comorbidities. The relationship between topological indices and antitubercular activity of 5â-O-[(N-Acyl)sulfamoyl]adenosines has been investigated. A data set consisting of 31 analogues of 5â-O-[(N-Acyl)sulfamoyl]adenosines was selected for the present study. The values of numerous topostructural and topochemical indices for each of 31 differently substituted analogues of the data set were computed using an in-house computer program.

Background: Very few studies using the combination of topical 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) and narrow-band ultraviolet B (NBUVB) have been performed, especially in Indian patients. A combination of oral psoralen with NBUVB has been shown to have a superior efficacy as compared with NBUVB alone in psoriasis.

Aims: Comparison of the efficacy of topical psoralen NBUVB (combination) versus NBUVB alone in psoriasis.

Department of Respiratory Medicine, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Pt. B D Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, India.

Objective: To assess whether patients having stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with no clinical evidence of visual impairment or peripheral neuropathy have visual evoked potentials (VEP) abnormalities on electrophysiologic evaluation.

Methods: In the present study, 80 male subjects with no clinical neuropathy or visual impairment were included; 40 COPD patients and 40 age-matched healthy volunteers. The characteristics of subjects including age, quantum of smoking, duration of illness (in COPD patients only), and spirometric indices {forced expiratory volume in first second (FEV₁), FEV₁/forced vital capacity (FVC) %, and peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR)} were assessed.

Department of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, Haryana, India.

The failure of closure of the neural tube during development leads to malformations called neural tube defects (NTDs). The most common neural malformations in humans include anencephaly, encephalocele, exencephaly, craniorachischisis spina bifida with or without myelomeningocele, lipomyeloschisis, lipomyelomeningocele, meningocele and myelocystocele. Current preventive strategies are mainly based on pharmacologic/folic acid supplementation.
