Objective: The association between vitamin D deficiency and devastating preeclampsia is still debated. In this present study, our aim is to evaluate whether a statistically significant association exists between vitamin D deficiency and preeclampsia in Indian gravidas. As to the best of our knowledge, no study of this context with such a large sample size is done in the Indian population till now.

Asparagus racemosus (Shatavari) is recommended in Ayurvedic texts for prevention and treatment of gastric ulcers, dyspepsia and as a galactogogue. A. racemosus has also been used successfully by some Ayurvedic practitioners for nervous disorders, inflammation, liver diseases and certain infectious diseases.

Vitamin A status was measured in 50 pre-school children with acute and persistent diarrhoea. It was measured by (a) Fluorometric micromethod and (b) Conjunctival impression cytology (CIC). The results were compared with 25 normal children.
