Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between sonographic measurements of umbilical cord coiling index during late second trimester of pregnancy and perinatal outcome.

Methods: This prospective study was conducted on two hundred pregnant women with uncomplicated, singleton pregnancy between 20 to 24 weeks of gestation. The antenatal umbilical coiling index (UCI) was calculated by doing a transabdominal ultrasound at the time of induction into the study as the reciprocal of the pitch of one complete vascular coil.

Impact of an educational intervention on hand hygiene compliance and infection rate in a developing country neonatal intensive care unit.

Nosocomial infections are a significant problem in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and hand hygiene (HH) has been stated as an effective mean to prevent spread of infections. The aim of study was to assess the baseline compliance HH practices and to evaluate the impact of hand washing educational programme on infection rate in a NICU. Continuous surveillance of nosocomial infections was done.

Histopathologic changes following neoadjuvant chemotherapy in locally advanced breast cancer.

Aims: To compare the clinical and pathologic assessment of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and describe the various histopathologic changes observed.

Materials And Methods: We studied a group of 40 patients with locally advanced breast cancer who had their initial workup in the form of clinico-imaging assessment of the size and pretreatment biopsy from the lesion. All the patients received two to six cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, either cyclophosphamide 50 to 60 mg/m 2 IV, doxorubicin 40 to 50 mg/m 2 IV and 5-fluorouracil 500 to 800 mg/m 2 IV (CAF) or cyclophosphamide, epirubicin, and 5-fluorouracil (CEF).

Internal jugular vein thrombosis: an uncommon presentation.

Internal jugular vein (IJV) thrombosis is a rare entity. It is usually secondary to various etiologies such as ovarian hyperstimulation, deep vein thrombosis of upper limbs, venous catheter, malignancy, trauma, infection, and neck surgery and hypercoagulable status. We report an unusual case of internal jugular vein thrombosis with cerebral sinus thrombosis, postpartum in a 22-year-old female patient who presented with a painful swelling on the left side of her neck.

Isolated post-traumatic radial head dislocation, a rare and easily missed injury-a case report.

Unlabelled: Dislocation of the head of the radius may be either congenital, an isolated injury or more commonly part of a complex injury to the elbow such as the Monteggia fracturedislocation. Isolated traumatic radial head dislocation without associated injuries in children is a rare and easily missed condition. We report such a case in a 7-year-old boy without any associated injuries or co-morbid conditions.

Corneal manifestations in chemical injury with stannous chloride.

Chemical injuries are potentially devastating ocular accidents that can lead to permanent damage to the ocular surface and visual loss. The majority of serious chemical injuries occur in factory workers who are exposed to hazardous chemicals in their day-to-day life. The ocular effects of commonly encountered acids and alkalis are well documented in the literature.

Background. Dorsally comminuted distal radius fractures are unstable fractures and represent a treatment challenge. The objective of this study was to evaluate the functional and radiological outcome of dorsally comminuted fractures of the distal radius fixed with a volar locking plate.

Neglected locked vertical patellar dislocation.

Patellar dislocations occurring about the vertical and horizontal axis are rare and irreducible. The neglected patellar dislocation is still rarer. We describe the clinical presentation and management of a case of neglected vertical patellar dislocation in a 6 year-old boy who sustained an external rotational strain with a laterally directed force to his knee.

Critical appraisal of the existing and emerging therapies for smoking cessation.

Smoking is a major health problem of the society as it causes a wide variety of health hazards and produces a strong addictive behavior. Various pharmacological and non pharmacological treatments have been tried for smoking cessation from time to time. Nephrocalcinosis: a rare presenting manifestation of primary Sjögren's syndrome.

Renal involvement in primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is not uncommon. Autoimmune tubulointerstitial disorders and distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA) account for majority of the cases of renal involvement. While dRTA may precede the onset of sicca syndrome in pSS, nephrocalcinosis as a presenting manifestation of pSS is rare.

Rosai-Dorfman disease: A case report with extranodal thyroid involvement.

Rosai-Dorfman Disease (RDD) or Sinus Histiocytosis with Massive Lymphadenopathy (SHML) is a rare disorder typically manifesting as enlarged lymph nodes with or without systemic involvement. These cases are often clinically misdiagnosed as lymphoma. Pregnancy in a woman with AMC is at high risk due to diminished pulmonary reserve, increased risk of thromboembolism and anesthesia.
